Dig Dig Posted 22 December, 2013 Share Posted 22 December, 2013 (edited) Wrapped in cotton wool by the club too much? Always off sick or going off with knocks, I wonder if the club are over cautious or if Shaw is a bit of a baby? Always off sick or going off with knocks, I wonder if the club are over cautious or if is Shaw a bit of a baby? Shaw was at the ground today. Tweeted that he could have played but club did not want to risk it. What risk is there wi th a minor throat infection? Bigger risk playing ****sake Fox and Owngoal Jos in the same team as Gazza the fake goalie.
Window Cleaner Posted 22 December, 2013 Share Posted 22 December, 2013 Or is there something else we should be worried about............the transfer window is open in less than 10 days!! Protect the asset Why if he was going anywhere we'd be playing his little legs off now. We're obviously focusing on the Everton and Chelsea games, trying to ease the 4 yellow carders and walking wounded through until then.
70's Mike Posted 22 December, 2013 Share Posted 22 December, 2013 he was over in the Chapel/Kingsland corner signing autographs for 10 minutes at around 12.50, should have been in the warm so he is available for Boxing Day, which imo is more important that todays game

Have you tried sprinting around for 90 minutes with a throat infection? I bet it's a f*cking killer, especially if you've got someone like Aaron Lennon to chase after. He may have wanted to play but he may not have lasted the pace.

ART Posted 22 December, 2013 Share Posted 22 December, 2013 With all the experimenting today at left back I can seriously believe we're considering selling him. As said above, made of glass and maybe the right time to cash in before he gets permanently injured. Thought Chamber makes an excellent left back and one of those moves stealing the ball ad storming away with the ball was sheer class.
svetigpung Posted 22 December, 2013 Share Posted 22 December, 2013 please please please let him be available and roaring to go on boxing day. As long as he is happy after opening his presents on christmas day, then he should be in the right frame of mind. Now Luke, go to bed nice and early tomorrow and santa will come. Barry Sanchez Posted 22 December, 2013 Share Posted 22 December, 2013 He is gone, at least when he goes this once and for all will shatter the illusion Cortese has cast over the fans thinking we are dining at the top table and able to keep our prized assets. swannymere Posted 22 December, 2013 Share Posted 22 December, 2013 Ridiculous statement by the OP, there have been loads of players who played too much when they were young having their careers cut short due to burn out and injury, the club has a duty to protect the players especially the nippers. Highly fit individuals have a lower tolerance to illness as weirdly their immune system is not as strong as a standardly fit person - exercising hard with a minor infection can cause it to become a major infection. Perhaps that's what the club was worried about?

Defo, I know a guy that was on west hams books from an early age, could of made it but by the time he was 17 he's knees were Fubared, playing every day (training) and exercising to a high level is not that good for kids or young adults. cambsaint Posted 22 December, 2013 Share Posted 22 December, 2013 Playing at the intensity that is necessary with even a mild viral infection is potentially dangerous. There have been reported incidents of fatalities of sportsmen exercising at full performance with viral infections. Leave these decisions to medical professionals. Dig Dig Posted 22 December, 2013 Author Share Posted 22 December, 2013 Not talking about today in isolation though. Seems like he goes off after nearly every challenge which leaves him on the ground and always seems to be ill, more than average I'd say.

I've played football, surfed or trained plenty of times with a cold or sore throat. Haven't died yet.
