Ado Posted 22 December, 2013 Posted 22 December, 2013 How long til Wanyama is back? Think he is actually the one who keeps us solid defensively enabling us to attack in numbers as we were at the start of the season
Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 December, 2013 Posted 22 December, 2013 13 conceded in 6 games since his injury
Window Cleaner Posted 22 December, 2013 Posted 22 December, 2013 13 conceded in 6 games since his injury Boruc was injured before Wanyama, that's where you need to be focussing your attention. Wanyama started against Villa so 13 in 6 isn't right. What you need to be looking at is the 10 in 4 and a half since Boruc went out.

david in sweden Posted 22 December, 2013 Posted 22 December, 2013 IMHO despite the fee ....Wanyama isn't the finished article either YET, but he offers a frightening physical presence that is somehow lacking in Jack Cork.
S-Clarke Posted 22 December, 2013 Posted 22 December, 2013 It's no surprise that teams easily slice through the middle of us now.
SaintSteve Posted 22 December, 2013 Posted 22 December, 2013 Wanyama is not the reason we leak goals.. its simple.. the defence have no confidence in the goalkeeper and its spreading through the team.

Roger Posted 22 December, 2013 Posted 22 December, 2013 Both are a miss. Boruc marginally more but as much as I like cork, Vic is an upgrade.
Window Cleaner Posted 5 January, 2014 Posted 5 January, 2014 (edited) anyone know how his recovery is going? If he was anywhere near fitness then you'd presume you'd catch a glimpse of him somewhere in one of the build up galleries or videos. No sign of him anywhere so I'd say at least another 3 weeks to a month. A chipped bone isn't banal really, not for a professional footballer. Edited 5 January, 2014 by Window Cleaner
CanadaSaint Posted 5 January, 2014 Posted 5 January, 2014 Not much point in the "Who we miss most" debate. We lost a lot of key players at and around the same time, and that hurt us in a lot of ways. I don't think Schneiderlin has been the same player since we lost Wanyama, which means the protection (and cover) for our back four fell away badly even though Cork has played competently in his absence. And we haven't pressed anything like as effectively as we did a few months back. We need that early season group reunited in a big way.
Georgie Posted 5 January, 2014 Posted 5 January, 2014 Did someone say he was back in light training? So probably end of this month. Together with Boruc they both have been big misses, which clearly shows in the amount goals conceded since beginning of December. Also when is Boruc back? Was hoping it would be for the West Brom game but got a feeling we will continue with Davis in goal.

We all deserve a good run into the end of the season.
Window Cleaner Posted 5 January, 2014 Posted 5 January, 2014 This is from training at Staplewood on 30th December 2013... Did he still have his walking boot though, that's the question. Until he can walk and run without it he's still a long way off. Good to see him in some core training though.
Batman Posted 5 January, 2014 Posted 5 January, 2014 Boruc and big Vic have been huge losses. Just think we would have got point against spurs had we had them

Ewell Posted 5 January, 2014 Posted 5 January, 2014 Maybe we should look to sign big Vic's brother McDonald Mariga as cover for Vic when he is injured?
Window Cleaner Posted 5 January, 2014 Posted 5 January, 2014 Maybe we should look to sign big Vic's brother McDonald Mariga as cover for Vic when he is injured? don't even know if he's fit to play, hasn't played for Inter for ages.
September Saint Posted 8 January, 2014 Posted 8 January, 2014 Maybe we should look to sign big Vic's brother McDonald Mariga as cover for Vic when he is injured? Has he got a cousin? Like George Weah's
Saint Garrett Posted 8 January, 2014 Posted 8 January, 2014 And Villa particular imo. Wanyama played vs Villa tbf, and was shocking!!
SO16_Saint Posted 8 January, 2014 Posted 8 January, 2014 Thought I read somewhere that he was out for the season?? Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk

We had a fantastically strong spine - Boruc, Clyne, Shaw, Lovren, Fonte (who suddenly got his sh*t together after a mediocre season last time round), Wanyama and Morgan. Until thats back together, we are vulnerable.
beancounter saint Posted 8 January, 2014 Posted 8 January, 2014 Wanyama played vs Villa tbf, and was shocking!! But wasn't that the game when he did the damage colliding with their keeper and had to go off at ht?
