Saintandy666 Posted 27 December, 2013 Share Posted 27 December, 2013 Had a look at the book in my local waterstones and it looks fantastic and seems very comprehensive. Unfortunately can't really afford the price tag at the moment being a poor student, but looks like a great job has been done. Will definitely look into getting it some point in the future! saint63 Posted 28 December, 2013 Share Posted 28 December, 2013 Just finished reading the 1945 -2013 section. This is an outstanding piece of work for which the authors must take great credit. So many memories from my era, from 1963 onwards. The names of the 63 semi final team still trip easily off the tongue. Many years later when moving into my first home in Poulner I was fascinated to find many copies of John Sydenhams testimonial match v Pompey. On further checking it seemed he was the first owner. Congratulations to the authors.
SW11_Saint Posted 28 December, 2013 Share Posted 28 December, 2013 Will add a further plug for this book - quite simply superb, certainly the best, most comprehensive guide to Saints past and present (not just because it's the most recent!). Like others have commented, I was staggered by how many players from the recent past I had totally forgotten! If you haven't already bought a copy you must. You will not regret it. It's a snip for the enjoyment you'll get from it. Well done Duncan, David and Gary - an amazing achievement.
John Boy Saint Posted 28 December, 2013 Share Posted 28 December, 2013 SW11_Saint is spot on I had Christmas Money burning a hole in my pocket, and seeing that Santa selected other stuff, I made arrangements to pick up copy from Duncan yesterday. I haven't read it like an Anorak, more like opening a very moreish box of chocolates you just keep going back for a another one (look) then demolishing all the ones around it. if you are a Saints fan with an interest in the Saints history past and present this book is another priceless product from the Hagiology team......................you can't google this stuff. I liked the bit on Len Stansbridge the old groundsman.
