Vincent Tan tells Malky Mackay to resign - or he'll be sacked

Without a doubt

If you listened to the post match interview with Adkins on Solent after the Coventry promotion game Adkins pretty much knew he was in the snipers sights as soon as the ref blew the final whistle: very strange to listen to at the time.

As mentioned before I have a friend who got invited to one of those Cortese dinners, and it was revealed there that Markus wanted Pardew out sooner than he was, but Nicola persuaded him against that. Pardew shot himself in the foot ultimately by being seen to take the teams foot off the gas after winning the JPT.

that cant be true. the experts on here all said that was not in his nature. he was some lovely, cuddly nice guy and it was nicola who was the nasty bastard.

I looked into my Crystal ball and this is what it told me.

'Vincent Tan will announce soon that on January 18th 2014 he will unvail the new manager of Cardiff City. The new manager comes with a very high reputation. The only clues he will give are that the new manger has:

- Won the Premiership 5 times with 3 speperate teams

- Won promotion in successive seasons from the Blue Square premier to the Premiership twice

- Has won the European Championship, Champions League, Europa League, ,Ballon d'Or‎, FA cup twice, and the league cup

- He has also won the World Cup with the Malasian national team.

When pressed at a press conference the only other clues he will give is that the new manager is a close friend of his son's and has been playing Football Manger since 2008.'

I heard it was actually the other way round, from the same person that told me Cortese wanted Adkins gone after the 1-3 loss v Reading a Reed had to talk him round. I did say this several times before Adkins was fired and was of course accused of trolling. The biggest surprise was he lasted so long.

Let's not make out promotion from league one is a massive achievement from a chairman or back to back promotions for that matter, even Delia Smith managed that, she's achieved more than second place without the backing of billionaires!

..and she'd probably beat Cortese or his Mrs in a 'bake off' as well don't forget.

The red kit is fine by me, I get tired of seeing people wearing red and white stripes and only when you get close seeing that they are Stoke, Sunderland or Exeter fans. If it is hard for me to tell it must be really difficult for fans abroad who are not so seeing the subtle differences.

Yeah. Thank god we're now one of the, what, must be fewer than five teams in whole of Europe that play in plain red tops. We're just so distinctive these days.

I know its christmas but your sarcasm level has dropped a tad. In the PL all the red tops are very different, whereas the Stoke, Sunderland and our trad stripes are very similar

I think you're fighting a losing argument if you even for a minute want people to think that we have a unique, standout kit. Not only is it utterly sh*t, it's also bland and just like various others. It's also almost exactly like Bristol City, if you're going to make references to Stoke and Sunderland.

And let's not forget the dozens of Sunday league sides who will also play in a the shirt as it was available without the hideous gold badges for £18.99 on a number of websites. Still at least nick will not confuse saints fans for Sunderland ones on the beach in Benidorm.

Why would he resign and miss out on a huge payout? He might as well wait for the sack, Mackay's reputation won't be tarnished by any of this and he'd easily get another good job.

Exactly, hang in there, this Tan guy seems to be one of these people that thinks because he has been a success in business he is Gods gift to any other walk of life, football included, if he does sack him I really hope that available managers blank him.

Why? Is what he's doing any worse than NC? Just more public imho

That comment is so ridiculous it is beyond response. Not sure why I've made even this much effort.

This is funny and a very good response from Steve Gibson.

On a non-Saints note, what happened to Middlesbrough? I know Gibson was pumping his own money in for years when they had Juninho, Emerson, Ravenelli etc., but they now seem to be doing what everyone else is doing and being sensible. I know they get bugger all fans, but did he run out of money!?

He must have lashed an insane amount of money down the toilet with them.

On the subject of Boro, I heard a funny tale about Alex Boksic. He was continually being played up front with Noel Whelan and got fed up with the gap in class. So one Monday, after a particularly abject display from Whelan over the weekend, Boksic marched into the club secretary's office. "How much does does Whelan get paid per week? And how long is left on his contract?" The secretary told him, and Boksic left. The next day he bowled into the office with a cheque, gave it to the secretary and said "There's Whelan's wages for the duration of his contract. Now tell him to f*ck off".

Probably not true but humourous nonetheless.

You sound surprised? Probably one of our worst kits ever.

just a joke at how commercialised football has now become. this and diving are the two things that are ruining the sport (plus a couple of other things that I'm sure people will inform me about).

The thing is, we all know that football is commercialised, and I can live with that to an extent. The last kit I bought was the sash shirt, and I still wear it for 5 a side, and will continue to do so. It probably cost £40 or £45, can't remember, but I didn't think twice about it. But when you get a pathetic lack of effort and utterly sh1te design for a home shirt, then it takes the p1ss a bit. I'm not one to ever wear a Saints shirt to a game, but I wouldn't dream of coughing up for that abomination just for a kick about.

Grrr. Rant over.

I see Cardiff have now sacked their head of recruitment, who had been another source of dispute between MM & Tan. Could this be the start of some sort of climb down by Tan and reconciliation ?

They sacked him last month. He's now sporting director at Crystal Palace.

Badger is talking about Ian Moody's replacement Alisher Apsalyamov announced as leaving today...

Definitely agree mate. I too bought the sash and still where it to some saints games (when I'm not freezing my tits off). The thing with the sash was it was unique. No-one in league 1 (in the football league possibly) had a sash kit. And who wears all red? Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Cardiff and us. That's not even including the leagues below.

I suggest that says more about your eyesight than the "tiring" sight of us wearing colours that have been synonymous with SFC for decades.

just a thought... might a certain fat arsed norwegian defender follow him to cardiff in short order?

the further thought occurrs... he wasn't Pochettino's choice, he probably wasn't Adkins' choice... Any chance he ws Solskjaer's choice but one side pulled out, we ended up with his defender and a different manager.
