Mr X Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 Agreed we don't have a prolific goal scorer and as good as jay rod has been we need another option to help Osvaldo isn't the answer and Lambert's age is beggining to show!
Bearsy Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 i remember in the summer cortese backing JayRod to be our top scorer and get england call up before christmas. How we all laughed.
dronskisaint Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 http://www.squawka.com/news/2013/12/18/outscoring-lambert-osvaldo-saints-star-emerges-as-credible-england-option/2013121844953 I'm confused, I thought Davis was our unsung hero!?! Good article though - one of so many being complimentary about a number of our squad - if we can keep everyone happy it augurs well for seasons to come! :-)
Colinjb Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 Pacey, energetic and willing to single handedly have a go. He is becoming better all the time and one of the few attackers we have who can be a little unpredictable. (Ossie is the other, but he doesn't have Jay's work ethic... Although I believe Ossie has a little more flair in his locker.)
Window Cleaner Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 i remember in the summer cortese backing JayRod to be our top scorer and get england call up before christmas. How we all laughed. Bearsy building up NC street credit here, preparing the old I'm usually right for when he sells Lambert to the Skates in January.
Dalek2003 Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 He is, but we could do with another striker a bit more consistent than Osvaldo.

Here we go again another snide snipe at Ricky Lambert who has been a greater asset to this club over the past few years than anybody else you could mention. What is wrong with people like you who seem only to do down our players.
Mr X Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 What the hell I'm not criticising Lambert he has been a terrific servant and still a great player I was merely stating that he's not getting any younger. You people need to grow up and stop twisting every dam thing into anti this or anti that

You people need to grow up and stop twisting every dam thing into anti this or anti that And most sensible and sane supporters will know you're right. Judging Lambert purely on this season, it's fair to say he isn't prolific and he is getting older, which inevitably means he won't always be our best striking option. Saying this doesn't for a second forget anything the man has done for us, nor how great he was last season.

Colinjb Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 Thing is, when your legs go, they do so almost overnight. They clearly havn't gone, just thanks to a pressing style he isn't going to get as much space in a forward position as he did before therefore restricting his efforts to headers from crosses and supporting the more unpredictable forwards we have. He is still the best hold up player we have which testifies to his ability, movement and strength. Naturally if we have teams under the cosh half the time they will mark the living daylights out of him, they're not stupid.
The9 Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 If this isn't an article about Steven Davis, they're talking about the wrong "unsung key man" at the moment.
CB Fry Posted 19 December, 2013 Posted 19 December, 2013 Doesn't being called up for England qualify as being "sung" these days? J-Rod has been great this season and has been recognised for it.
sammysaint Posted 19 December, 2013 Posted 19 December, 2013 Lambert has 4 assts and 4 goals, i see Lambo scoring 10 goals this season with 7-9 assts, i think this year its about Lambo playing in Lallana and Jay Rod more and them getting goals as well, and Jay Rod has benefited from this.
