How Southampton's unsung hero is emerging as their key man

Pacey, energetic and willing to single handedly have a go.

He is becoming better all the time and one of the few attackers we have who can be a little unpredictable. (Ossie is the other, but he doesn't have Jay's work ethic... Although I believe Ossie has a little more flair in his locker.)

Agreed we don't have a prolific goal scorer and as good as jay rod has been we need another option to help Osvaldo isn't the answer and Lambert's age is beggining to show!

Here we go again another snide snipe at Ricky Lambert who has been a greater asset to this club over the past few years than anybody else you could mention. What is wrong with people like you who seem only to do down our players.

What the hell I'm not criticising Lambert he has been a terrific servant and still a great player I was merely stating that he's not getting any younger. You people need to grow up and stop twisting every dam thing into anti this or anti that

And most sensible and sane supporters will know you're right. Judging Lambert purely on this season, it's fair to say he isn't prolific and he is getting older, which inevitably means he won't always be our best striking option.

Saying this doesn't for a second forget anything the man has done for us, nor how great he was last season.

Thing is, when your legs go, they do so almost overnight.

They clearly havn't gone, just thanks to a pressing style he isn't going to get as much space in a forward position as he did before therefore restricting his efforts to headers from crosses and supporting the more unpredictable forwards we have.

He is still the best hold up player we have which testifies to his ability, movement and strength. Naturally if we have teams under the cosh half the time they will mark the living daylights out of him, they're not stupid.
