His performances while on loan at Barnsley this season haven't been that of a Premier League goalkeeper in waiting, from what I've seen on the Football League Show. Redknapp was on Talksport and mentioned that he was on the verge of joining Spurs - an agent of a top keeper was visiting Spurs socially and Begovic and his agent saw him and presumed he was signing as well so Begovic thought he would be on the bench still so jumped in the car and signed for Stoke instead.
