Saint Charlie Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 After Jos Hooiveld's oafish kick of thin air against Newcastle on Sunday it made me wonder what our worst kick of all time has been? Jos has a couple of other shouts with uncoordinated kicks vs Fulham last year and also brainless kicks on Van Persie and Tevez last season but they probably aren't the worst ever. Prutton's kick against West Brom the year we went down was poor, but what would you say is the worst Saints kick ever?
Smirking_Saint Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 Tiss' when he tried to kick it out for a throw in ? Though Yoshi and Jos' recent performances confirm we need a back up CB ASAP
PhilippineSaint Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 Grobelaars when he came out of his area to the right hand wing and hoofed it straight to the opposition, who then promptly put it back in the empty net
Lighthouse Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 Tahar vs Dyer was pretty brutal. Had echos of Massing vs Cannigia about it. Didn't really cost us the game though so not too bad from a Saints POV. I'm sure Dyer disagrees.
Saint Garrett Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 Gazza's on Saturday when he passed it straight to Remy? There are hundreds of candidates!!
Saint Charlie Posted 16 December, 2013 Author Posted 16 December, 2013 Gazza's on Saturday when he passed it straight to Remy? There are hundreds of candidates!! If that had gone in it was have been a truly woeful mistake.
peacey Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 Dave Beasant vs Liverpool. Runs out his area to get ball, controls it then kicks straight to John Barnes in the middle of the pitch. Barnes hits it towards goal with Beasant running back to the goal can not get there in time. I remember this like yesterday.

Runs out his area to get ball, controls it then kicks straight to John Barnes in the middle of the pitch. Barnes hits it towards goal with Beasant running back to the goal can not get there in time. I remember this like yesterday. That was awful but Gazza's was worse because the kick hardly got out the area. Gobern's kick was quality.
Lets B Avenue Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 Grobelaars when he came out of his area to the right hand wing and hoofed it straight to the opposition, who then promptly put it back in the empty net I think you mean this one. Jimmy_D Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 Leon Best penalty at Derby ? Leon Best own goal at Derby has to be up there... I still don't know how it was even physically possible for him to score the way he did!
OldNick Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 Crouch where he shot instead of kicking the ball into the corner against Everton in the relegation season
Kingsland Red Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 Crouch where he shot instead of kicking the ball into the corner against Everton in the relegation season You're on my wave length with kicks that changed our history, Nick. After that Crouch one we seemed incapable of holding a lead once the extra time board went up, and Leon's penalty meant Lowe's two year plan to get back up had failed.
Hatch Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 Whoever kicked it out for the corner with about 3 minutes of extra time left at Highbury in 1984 Him.
shirleysfc Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 That was awful but Gazza's was worse because the kick hardly got out the area. Gobern's kick was quality. Beasant's was worse as we conceded a goal and lost because of it.
RonManager Posted 16 December, 2013 Posted 16 December, 2013 The one I got in my arse when ManUre took the Milton back along. I was so intent on lighting a fag that I didn't notice that everyone else had scarpered. Ooooh me tailbone.
Wes Tender Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 Leon Best own goal at Derby has to be up there... I still don't know how it was even physically possible for him to score the way he did! Good shout. If it had been scored for us instead of against, it would have been goal of the month. That combined with the penalty miss means that Best probably cost us promotion that season.
saint si Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 Peter Crouch's shot on goal vs Everton at home in 2005.
Halo Stickman Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 The worse kick followed hot on the heels of probably the best kick I’ve ever witnessed – it was the kick in the teeth when Keegan’s fantastic overhead scissors kick ‘goal’ was ruled out because Armstrong (I think it was) was offside, even though there was absolutely no way he was interfering with play!
derry Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 Kelvin Davis v QPR in his first season. trying to shepherd the ball out at the Kingsland/Chapel corner missed the ball and Jones (RIP) nicked the ball away and put it in the net. On a par with Boruc's cock up at Arsenal.
Minty Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 For comedy value rather than 'changed our history-ness', Paul Telfer's shot that hit the big screen has to be worth a mention...
tttdcs Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 Whoever kicked it out for the corner with about 3 minutes of extra time left at Highbury in 1984 Him. I think I need therapy on this match, perhaps we can get a group discount
Saint86 Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 Grobelaars when he came out of his area to the right hand wing and hoofed it straight to the opposition, who then promptly put it back in the empty net Barnes wasn't it? Against Liverpool. This is the worst kick I have seen for sure. That or Boruc's attempts vs the Arse this season.

St.Patrik Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 Mikael Nilsson misses open goal vs Birminham in relegation season - if that had gone in we should have stayed up.... but NO he misses an open goal : /
The9 Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 Prutton's open goal airkick against West Brom in the Prem relegation season is up there.
doc oli Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 DMG penalty on the day we were relegated from the championship. limp.
Hamilton Saint Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 The best "worst" kick? Le Tissier's tame, grass-cutter shot that beat Man U goalie Taibi.
OldNick Posted 17 December, 2013 Posted 17 December, 2013 I think I need therapy on this match, perhaps we can get a group discountthe scars run deep about that one.
