Window Cleaner Posted 5 January, 2014 Share Posted 5 January, 2014 This is all a load of tosh . I'm sure Rickie said he wanted to end his playing career with us when he signed an extension to his contract . Sorry gutter press spinning stories to unsettle a player mind you with the team that West Ham have put out this afternoon they must be desperate to sign new players. Definitely not taking the Cup seriously, then again it's only Forest.

Bearsy Posted 5 January, 2014 Share Posted 5 January, 2014 It says a double in wages, not a first teamer here, coming to the end of his career and he can end it on £70,000 a week two year deal, of course he would take it as its an extra £350,000 approx over that time. No idea what he got when he signed on to us in L1, but a signing on fee if we went to WH would be significantly more. Wouldn't begrudge him that at all. Saint Garrett Posted 5 January, 2014 Share Posted 5 January, 2014 Why on earth would anyone want to go to WHU? A club going no where. I think they're going to throw money at it in the hope of staying up. And they'll be in the **** if they go down big time. Dumb and Dummer were saying in the summer that they needed to sell to buy as they would be out of the wage cap or something, so would think if they buy anyone this January, then they will be going over it. But yes, it wouldn't make any sense for anyone to go to West Ham unless they're going for the money or have no chance of getting a game from where they are. Glasgow_Saint Posted 5 January, 2014 Share Posted 5 January, 2014 Why on earth would anyone want to go to WHU? A club going no where. WHU are struggling now, but they are a bigger club than us + double his money + signing on bonus + olympic stadium + style that will suit him more. To name just a few reasons Dont think he will move, but lots of reasons why he might and could. Money talks
S-Clarke Posted 5 January, 2014 Share Posted 5 January, 2014 What if they doubled his wages I don't think he's the sort of player to care about money. He's at the top of the game with us now, and there's no indication that he's not part of the first team - in fact he's the only real striker we have at the moment. He can either stay with us and play in the top half of the league regularly, or lose lots of games in a relegation battle whilst playing in one of the most horrendous teams in the league for 6 months, just for a little more dosh. It would be a very short-sighted move, as they will probably go down, and they'll then need to get rid of him pretty sharpish.

I also think some of our posters are overlooking the world cup factor as well. MP has shown time and time again that he'll leave him out and from what I've seen he needs to be playing week in week out. If fat Sam is going to spend millions on him and double his wages, he'll play him . playing down the middle with 2 wingers and early crosses, he's quite capable of 15 goals in the remaining 19 games. IMO he wants to go to Brazil more than he wants to play for saints. Only problem I've got with it is having to rename the family dog lol.

It would be an enormous gamble that could easily back fire. Carroll will be back soon, and I'd expect him to go straight back into the 11, seeing what they paid for him and his wages. Lambert could well end up as a sub in a relegated side.

qwertySFC Posted 5 January, 2014 Share Posted 5 January, 2014 Think Rickie knows where he is well off , and not just with cash, I have no doubt once he finally hangs up his boots with The Saints a role in development will be his future here. I am no fan of Fat Sam , hes management style is from the dark ages of football along with many others , throw money at it for a gamble to stay in the EPL . Looking back at all the big ******** talk from those who were promoted with us , our way has shown to be the right one - Rickie is going no where unless the club transfer list him end of. Whose to say Carroll will get fit and whose to say Fat Sam won't play both of them. After ****ing up overt Carroll , is fat Sam going to persuade Gold & Sullivan to spend big on an older player and then not play him? There's also the tiredness factor. With our game he could be dead on his feet come may. Fat Sam got the best out of an ageing Kevin Davies , could he do the same for SRL.

Most is just guess work or speculation. The only thing we know for a fact is whether he is first teamer or not. We have played 20 prem games... Lambert played in...20 prem games! Only Lovren, Fonte, Lallana and JayRod played more minutes (not many more ). He started and scored in yesterday's cup game. Only games he hasn't been starting in are Chelsea and Man C when MP used him as sub (guess due to fear of being out paced in midfield at start of the game). So you are wrong he is first teamer. Doubt accuracy of rest but as i don't know facts can't say. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

I couldn't really say it's the Cup, City have a heavy looking fixture list though but I'm sure that they'll want to get to the C1C final. Think they might ditch the FA Cup though if Blackburn take it seriously enough. West Ham's problem is similar to ours, they've lost their best player and one of the PLs best defenders for a long while and their results have dipped badly since then. They were never that good this season but since Reid's been out it's all gone tits up for them. Nolan getting suspended really doesn't help either and now he's out for another 4 (3 after today) so at least the 2 CIC games will help pay off that suspension. sydneysaint17 Posted 5 January, 2014 Share Posted 5 January, 2014 Sentimentality aside, if Saints have got a younger, better replacement sorted (possibly Monk's player from the other thread) then I don't have a problem with it. They wouldn't sell without bringing someone in, and they know that if theyre realistic about challenging the top 6 it should probably be someone half decent. CanadaSaint Posted 5 January, 2014 Share Posted 5 January, 2014 I've felt for some time that MP wasn't as pleased as he claimed to be about Rickie's England call up and instant success; MP wants a more mobile front, and the England thing made it much harder for him to move the club (and the fans) on from a Rickie focus. It's also been fairly clear in recent weeks that Rickie's body language paints a picture of a player who isn't as happy here as he once was. His inability to forge a partnership with Osvaldo hasn't helped his case with the club brass because they really need Osvaldo to succeed here, given how much we paid for him. Any suggestion that he could double his wages and enjoy a more focal role at West Ham, in the twilight of his career, could make for an unhappy player if the club holds onto him against his wishes. But West Ham won't pay us anything like what we (the fan base) think he's worth because they know his career horizon isn't long. They'll throw the money at the wages side of the deal rather than the fee side, and I can see the club's hand being forced on this one. Much as I'd hate to see him go, I think he probably will.
