Lambert to West Ham Rumour

Someone on twitter mentioned Arsenal might be in for him over Berbatov. I don't think we should sell, as he's useful for pens, headers and hold-up play, but he's looked slower and slower every time I've seen him since the England debut peak.

Arsenal are always "in" for any player with a pair of boots at every transfer window, they usually end up buying nothing or signing some 12 year old from Honduras or similar. Agent Bollix or Paper Bollix sums up most of Arsenal's interest.

He comes on against Scotland and scores with his first touch, since when he's got slower and slower. I can't understand it.

Looking at how we played without Lambert yesterday shows just why he's not going anywhere soon!
You mean that game where we were 0-0 right up until the minute before he came on, when they scored a jammy opener. After that, while he was on, we got completely outclassed and conceded two more? Hardly a good example to use is it?

With the quality of the two that Chelsea brought on, in some way that changed the course of the game.

It would be a little silly to sell him right now. What we need to do first is have a ready made replacement, who we know can come in and do a similar job for us. At the moment, we have nothing.

Jay is decent, but a totally different player in that sense - he needs supply, and relies a lot on pace and beating a player etc. Osvaldo still has a hell of a lot to prove.....and that's it. If we bring in someone like Lukaku, then maybe...but until we have someone else of Lamberts ilk ready to come in, that's the reason why we can't sell him.

£8m, £10m, £10m, whatever....that money would be nothing to us if we have no one of his ilk ready to come in straight away.

Quite right.

The money means nothing if we can't or don't strengthen with it.

I have to say though ever since it was reported that Adkins was going and Poch was coming in - who? nothing would suprise me so I think he will go, either now or the summer. I don't know whether he'll have the retirement at southampton some would like.

I personally would keep him just for the reason that I couldn't bear to see him score against us, especially for that shower of ****.

Without going through the last 5 pages so don't know if its already been mentioned, but a couple of my mates who are Bristol Rovers fans reckon when we bought him there was a 30% sell on fee involved. Would hate to see him go, especially as we'd loose a big chunk of the cash.

We are ignoring the fact that for a last pay day from WHU (double what he gets with us?) he may want the move?

so why then would he be eulogising about Southampton in an intervew only 3 days ago. I mean to have said all that and then bugger off to West Ham for a few quid more would make him look like a real plastic knob wouldn't it. He'll go nowhere and end up in no mans land because he's fading fast.

Yup, It's the blind assumption that Lambert would want to stay if offered more money and a longer contract elsewhere

Also add in the world cup factor on top of one last payday. What's more likely to get him on the plane. Playing week in week out getting on the end of downing and jarvis' crosess plus big sams hoofs up to him. Or playing some weeks, dropped to the bench for others and

knackering himself out with a high pressing game with the occsional cross to get on the end of. Personally I reckon he'd score a hatful for west hoof, plus make a few for Nolan ECT bombing into the box. Look what fat sam done for KD and SRL is a far superior player.

There is also a bit of a blind assumption that players, who are already earning more than they can realistically spend, will automatically go because some one else offers them even more money than they can realistically spend. I think that there is more to Lambert than that. If he were to go it would be because he thought that it would be the right thing to do from a footballing perspective. I also believe that that, rather than buckets of cash, is what would motivate Shaw and Lallana

We don't need money we do need lambert. Weds showed we are poor upfront without him. J rod isn't great at that role.

Never expected him to be as such, I think he is much better and harder to mark when attacking from deep. He will make a decent CF in the future but right now he works better in the attacking three.

Our issue is we dont create enough, no matter who is up top they dont get enough service and Rickie isnt a lone front man.

In your heart of hearts, do you SERIOUSLY think that SRL will be in the England World Cup squad ?? I certainly don't. Great though he has been for us, he is NOT Top international material, and if he were playing for any other club, I'm convinced that most on here would (without their Saints specs on ) would agree.

I also think that Rickie himself thinks the same (was he told by Hodgson ?) ...... It could explain his very obvious dip in form/lack of enthusiasm since his last England call up.

A couple of things

Nobody would give us £10 mill for Rickie,we would be lucky to get £4-5 tops

J-rod played up front on his own against Chelsea, thats not the best of games to show what you can do playing alone centrally, the rest of the team were **** poor that day,and unless they pull there weight your lone striker is not going to get a sniff

I think Rickie will get a call up as he is that different option we can use, chasing a game, long balls, flick ons etc etc nobody can do that for England,Caroll can but he is injured

West Ham is a club run by complete and utter morons, and I'd love to see them implode and end up in L1. All this complaint about us when we signed Osvaldo ''Hmm, they must be near their limit now'', and there they go threatening to spend way, way over the top on a player who is probably past his peak.

I still stand by what I said, until we have a Lambert style player in the building, which we don't at the moment, then he must not leave.

Personally I want him to end his career here, but I don't think that will happen.

The Sun is reporting today that Lambert WANTS to leave. I must admit his recent demeanour is of someone who does not look happy. His celebration after scoring yesterday was very muted and I am starting to feel there is some truth in these rumours.

Shame as he is on 99 league goals.

His recent interviews tell a different story though. I think his celebration was a bit more muted because it's a game that we "should" be winning anyway and the lack of crowd/atmosphere possibly didn't get the players fired up very much.

some of these journalists should have a chip in their head that explodes when they write something stupid because that's totally out of sync with what he said only the other day.

Then somebody is not being truthful. Only yesterday JRod was on TV talking about the spirit in the squad and that nobody wanted to leave. Could be JRod was lying, could be the Sun. Which has form?
