BlakeySFC Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Rickie's a legend, I wouldn't take £25m for him let alone £8m!
skintsaint Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 NC would be a negotiation genius if he got 25m!
CB Fry Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 He's worth more to us than anyone would be prepared to pay. Can't see him going just yet. Maybe in the summer.
rshephard3 Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Completely positive I'll get abuse for this - But for £8million I'd take it and reinvest in a younger model. Love Rickie to pieces and would love to see him retire here - but realisitcally he's taken a slight dip in form over the season and £8million isnt a bad shout. Just to clarify - SRL is a hero and I dont want to sell him - But £8 million isnt bad... Agree, £8m reinvested to pay a huge chunk towards someone like Begovic would be for the greater good. What was Allardyce expecting by by the way? £500k and a packet of crisps? Stupid, fat ignorant dislikable man.
Sour Mash Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 If true, and we've set the price at £8m, that is very much telling West Ham just to f**k off, knowing they're not going to stretch to that.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 We dont play a style that suits Lambert nor do we play to his strenghs..... On that basis we should sell him, as his talents are wasted with us and he is getting increasingly frustrated with it all. Problem is mopo did have an oppurtunity to spend BIG & hand pick the replacement during the summer and he (Osvaldo) doesnt seem to fit the style either..........
Saint_Tony Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 In all fairness I think he could score a few goals at West Ham. For me he's the biggest club legend we have had since MLT and I wouldn't begrudge him a move. However, I feel that if we give him a rest until the West Brom game, he will come back firing on all cylinders. It's stupid to suggest he's suddenly lost his quality in the last couple of months. He's still a top player and will have his sights set on Brazil

He's hardly out of form although he has been less impressive than last season by his own high standards.
sussexsaint Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 FFS he is about so much more than just goals, his link up play is absolutely vital and I've lost count of how many times he has been cruicial to us defensively. Plus my mum has just knitted me a Ricky Lam'bear' for Christmas so Wet spam can do one
kpturner Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Hmm tough one. We need him but lot of money for a 31 yr old who has been poor this season. Poor? Had one or two ineffective games maybe.
Griffo Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 "I don't feel like that anymore (on supporting Liverpool). I support Southampton more now" "You have to know the club and fall in love with the club, and I have now. I'll always be a Southampton fan. My love is for Southampton now" What an absolute legend.
Delboy Dave Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Is that a direct quote Griffers my son or just some old Pony someone's made up?
Griffo Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Is that a direct quote Griffers my son or just some old Pony someone's made up? From his Saints Player interview this morning about 2013. Straight from his mouth.
Delboy Dave Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Quality! I don't subscribe to Saints Player so thanks for the heads up me ol mate!

He doesn't sound it in the interview released this morning which, to be fair, does make what you've said sound a bit stupid.
rick1976.4.38 Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 lambert is so much more than just his goals, his all round play is so beneficial to saints wet spam can do one
Suomi Saint Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Selling SRL would be a very bad idea on so many levels. Is all this nonsense because of the fact that Guly is still injured and Fox/Jos/Gazza are finally out of the team for the foreseeable future? Who is next under the microscope?
S-Clarke Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 It's OK. They've solved their striking problems. West Ham sign 18-year-old Peterborough striker Jaanai Gordon
Olallana Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 It's OK. They've solved their striking problems. West Ham sign 18-year-old Peterborough striker Jaanai Gordon Typo? Surely they haven´t signed anyone aged 18.....
S-Clarke Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Typo? Surely they haven´t signed anyone aged 18..... I think it's more for their youth academy to be fair, not sure why the BBC have picked it up as news worthy news for their site though.
S-Clarke Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Would you swap him for Ravel Morrison? No, where exactly would you play Revel...? We're more than covered in that area!

ottery st mary Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Body language mate Did alot of studies on this few years back. Madame Tussauds per chance?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Madame Tussauds per chance? Allan & Barbara Pease
shurlock Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Allan & Barbara Pease Is a taster of 2014? The material of a desperate man.
shirleysfc Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Body language mate Did alot of studies on this few years back. You must be about 102 with all the stuff you've done and football you've watched...
Window Cleaner Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 You must be about 102 with all the stuff you've done and football you've watched... In fact I'm sure one of the popular sundays ran a 4 or 5 week tutorial on Body Language a good few years back. It was a bloody nuisance, everybody watched everybody in pubs and workplaces and then came out with crap like "I can tell from your BL that you're tupping your PA on overseas trips". Everyone was a fudging expert.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 You must be about 102 with all the stuff you've done and football you've watched... Work hard play hard Shirley Happy new year btw
Puddings and Monkeys Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Body language mate Did alot of studies on this few years back. Of course you have. So how do you read all the positive words he was saying on the video? Lies? Told to say it by Cortese? You have so many talents it's no surprise that your mate Turdish called you a popular guy with loads of friends. All that must get lost somewhere when you post on here eh?
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 How do you know he is frustrated? He doesn't sound it in the interview released this morning which, to be fair, does make what you've said sound a bit stupid. He doesnt mate just makes up shi te

Delboy Dave Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Tbf Lamert isn't going to say anything negative in an interview on saints player is he?

Unbelievable Jeff Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Difficult, but yes I reckon...as long as we replace him.
Amesbury Saint Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-eyeing-rickie-lambert-2975801#.UsNGed5GHxk.twitter So... if all true - £8m - yay or nay? End of transfer window they may pay 10 m!
Bewildered Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 (edited) Unless Alan Nixon is counting forwards that will probably never play for us again (Barnard, Forte etc.) I don't know where he gets the idea we are overly blessed up front. Unless we bring a good replacement then no way. Edited 31 December, 2013 by Bewildered
Pedro Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Unless Alan Nixon is counting forwards that will probably never play for us again (Barnard, Forte etc.) I don't know where he gets the idea we are overly blessed up front. What are those two doing, do they just train and never play?
Bewildered Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 (edited) What are those two doing, do they just train and never play? I guess so, I think their contracts expire in the Summer though. Same for Lee. Edited 31 December, 2013 by Bewildered
SNSUN Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 He's nearly 32. £8 million is an insane amount of money for him. If this is true, and the bid comes in, I can't see us not accepting. We all love Rickie, what he's done for us since he arrived beggars belief. He'll be known for years to come as a key player in our rise up the leagues. But £8 million is obscene for a player of his age whose best days are perhaps behind him. Maybe I'm tipsy and it's ruining my judgement but I'd have to take the money and reinvest it into another striker.
Dr Who? Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 **** off he is ours, was 2 years ago and still is now. Sir Rickie is a Saint!
Turkish Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Would people complain if we sold him for that and got Danny Ings or Jordan Rhodes with the money?
Bewildered Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Would people complain if we sold him for that and got Danny Ings or Jordan Rhodes with the money? If we wanted to make way for Rhodes or another young Striker of RL's size, then we should go for it. Can't really say I've seen enough of Ings to cast judgement on him. Really it depends on whether there would be an intent to sign another Striker if Lambert is sold.
itchen_dan Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 I'd snap off their arms for £8m! As others said, a 32 year old, who i have said for a while now is no longer suitable for our system, for £8m is insane. His general play has deteriorated so much in my opinion over the last 6-9 months. His goal ratio has dropped significantly. After a couple of brilliant England performances, where the national team setup suits him better than it does here - he has been nowhere near the player he was. Take the money and run NC!!
View From The Top Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 His link up play is awesome and I'd hate to see him go. That said, come the summer I'd love to see him go and get a final big money move. For me he's been our greatest talisman since MLT and our best striker since Channon.
Saint Billy Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 I wouldn't, SRL has been amazeballs for us but showing signs that his best has gone. Jordan Rhodes is tempting.
teenagegsaint Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 F*** the lot of you if you'd sell him! how would we get get a better replacement for less than 10m LEGEND SRL
