If Wham go down could they do another P***** or is that unique ?

Birmingham went down to the third tier and the owners stuck with them, reinvested and brought them back up through the leagues. Much bigger debt this time round. As was the case when west ham were in championship last, the owners can't take the club into admin as the debt is to them, so it's them that lose out. gold and Sullivan simply have no choice but to ride out the storm no matter what happens.

Didn't watch the game, but sat here p*ssing myself at this -

And I thought FIFA was glitching when that happened..

Isn't he their new defender they just bought?

Is this thread dead now

Depends if you believe Twitter and newspaper rumours.... padded out with a few ITK claims and quotes from someone rumoured to have understood according to reports - it should be good for a few more pages yet

What can you expect from a third division defender in the company of the world's elite. We should be trying to loan them Jos.

Mr Johnson should go back to doing tv news reporting,

West ham will be playing the following tune whenever he gets the ball , The Clash should I stay or should I go

but this chant will definatley catch on

It's just a jump to the left.

And then a step to the right.

With your hand on your hips.

You bring your knees in tight.

But it's the pelvic thrust.

They really drive you insane.

Let's do the Time Warp Roger.

Let's do the Time Warp Roger.

Jos might not be the best def in the world, but why would you want to do this to him?

Poor indeed... IMO if you want to stay in the Premiership you don't loan in journeymen from League 1.

This is just like "Strachan to be announced as Leeds manager tomorrow" headlines that screamed out at us Saints fans a few years ago.

Bugger all is going on in the transfer window and suddenly the once Nasty Nic resigning from "Troubled Southampton" has instantly provided Manna from Heaven for all the lazy bored hacks. Cortese has gone and so has the money as he obviously owned the club lock stock and barrel, bucket against the wall time something is bound to stick.

Posted

They do want him, that's pretty much confirmed.

Will be interesting to see how this has handled now. £7-8m is an enormous fee for someone of his age, but a replacement would need to be purchased before we should even conciser it.

Posted
Can't get a replacement without an owner/CEO I wouldn't have thought. I don't want him to go regardless. But if he did, I assume we'd be relying on Osvaldo, JRod, Guly and Gallagher til summer. Which, to be fair, would be fine until then given the points we've already got.

Just can't not support Rickie, and can't support West Ham. Tricky.

So you believe it now then?

Why would Osvaldo stay if Pochettino goes?

If anyone would stay you'd expect it to be Lambert and Lallana.

If he did go we would certainly need to bring in a striker.

That is not a certainty after seeing the video of Billy Sharp sweating his balls off at the club yesterday. We're either about to sell of the likes of Lambert, Oswaldo and Ramirez and make room for the forgotten players or Academy players.

Letting Lambert go and replacing with Sharp wouldn't be a great start haha.

... make room for the forgotten players ....

Who are they ? Lee has gone, and Sharp as an EPL striker is not a great deal better than Fox as an EPL left back.

Edit - is Lee Barnard still technically a Saint ?

Because he's under contract, earning a lot of money and playing in the most prestigious league in the world?

But he signed to play under Pochettino. I'm sure money is a big factor, but he loved playing for Mp at Espanyol and that's the reason he came to us.

I have a feeling we'll see a few players leave before the end of January to reduce the wage bill and bring in some money to balance the books as the Liebherrs look to sell the club

Osvaldo, Ramirez and Yoshida will probably be out of the door pretty quickly as all 3 seem to want to leave - Yoshida and Gaston to get regular first team football and Osvaldo as he doesn't seem to have settled - and for all 3 World Cup squad places are to play for

I just hope we get our money back for them

And if West Ham make us a stupid offer for Lambert we'll take the money - and he'll take the salary

I think we'll also see Barnard, Sharp and Aaron Martin back in the first team squad until the end of the season - and a lot more of Guly

And I wouldn't be surprised if Pochettino and his assistants follow Cortese out of the club after Saturday's game with us either getting a caretaker manager in or Les Reed taking over until the end of the season

If this happens. We'll be lucky to get to 40 points.

I did say we should never take anything for granted. Anyway, we really do need to get over the 40 point line. Not panicking yet and not saying its all go pear shaped but hope the players focus on the football on Saturday.

We will get 10 more points even with a few departures...

You would think so. For once I was looking forwards to a nice relaxing second half of the season. Never happens with Saints does it ?

Will Rickie really increase his WC chances at WH? he may start more games but will he score the goals? Carroll is back from injury and they have signed Traore so will he get the game time?

WH play some awful awful football and will that make him look at better player than at SFC? I don't think it will and I reckon he will play second fiddle to AC who may well end up taking his WC place,Rickie needs to stay with us where he will score goals and play better football

He won't start more games? The only games he's not started this season are the away games against the best sides and Man City at home I believe? WHU have Carroll back, have just signed C Cole for another 18 months, are signing L Traore, and also heavily linked with A Gyan, I Belfodil and Rickie himself. Obviously they won't all sign for them, but West Ham play 1 up front, and Allardyce won't not play Carroll if he's fit.

There's plenty of rumours about today, unsurprisingly. I think Lambert, Lallana and J-Rod (if he hasn't given up hope yet) are certainly better off staying here where they are key figures in the team and all performing well. It would be a massive gamble for any of them to go (possibly not Lambert). I expect them to all wait until the summer to decide, because right now nobody really knows what's going on

"Cortese was negotiating a £7m move for Rickie Lambert to West Ham days before his exit but that looks to have stalled.

England striker Lambert wants to stay at Saints and has two-and-a-half years left on his contract."

Why was Cortese trying to sell a popular player like Rickie days before he walked out on the club? Wonder who would have been taking the flak for that if it had gone through in time.
