Minsk Posted 19 December, 2013 Posted 19 December, 2013 I agree. The full version of Tim is Timid. Not the best first name in the world. Tim, Tim, nice but dim!
Dr Who? Posted 19 December, 2013 Posted 19 December, 2013 We will lose now, I hate there skate, stand in manager and he would just love to beat us!
Ashley Grute Posted 19 December, 2013 Posted 19 December, 2013 Think there might be a chance that Fonte might be out- my mate was at Southampton Bupa on Tuesday and Fonte was also there seeing an orthopaedic specialist.
nta786 Posted 19 December, 2013 Posted 19 December, 2013 Hopefully we can win! I reckon we stand a reasonable chance and should be able to pull it off and get three points :-P I'd like to see: Gazza Chambers, Fonte, Lovren, Shaw Cork, Morgan, J Rod, Lallana, Davis Osvaldo And if Ossie not playing well, then bring on SRL PS- This is my first post!!!!!!! :-P I've been reading this forum for around 2 months though(only decided to make one now :-p), so I can name a few members (as well as the trolls)! Wanna say hi too :-)

SNSUN Posted 19 December, 2013 Posted 19 December, 2013 Hard to be scared of anyone called Tim. Henman, Vine, Minchin... nothing marks a weakling like Tim....but if you mess with Mr Mallett, you'll get a hammer to the face.

trousers Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 David Cameron predicts a Spurs win. What a tosser... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25448738
trousers Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 @SouthamptonFC: LIVE: Watch Mauricio Pochettino’s pre-#THFC press conference on our YouTube channel from 8.30am GMT. #saintsfc http://t.co/lVf1ow5ZC2 Hmmm, I wonder what the questions will be about this week...? #AVB #SpursJob #OsvaldoCharge
Saint Charlie Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Not in the least fussed on MPs opinion of AVB. Would rather they asked him when Hooiveld will be replaced.
trousers Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 @SouthamptonFC: Mauricio Pochettino says @Nathaniel_Clyne is back in training and will be assessed ahead of the weekend. #saintsfc http://t.co/lVf1ow5ZC2
trousers Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 @SouthamptonFC: MP on the transfer window: "We're happy with our young players' contributions, so we're not really looking to use the window." #saintsfc
Roger Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 I thought he could have been more forthright in saying he's not going to spurs. I wasn't convinced by the response but then I might just be expecting too much.
Saint Garrett Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Is it finished? Live feed isn't working for me!
Roger Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Nathaniel Clyne to return for spurs! All the other injuries still out.
toofarnorth Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Interesting that Pochettino said that we don't sign any players without his say so. Seems he has more control on transfers than AVB did at Spurs.
eelpie Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Nathaniel Clyne to return for spurs! All the other injuries still out. Is that confirmation that MoPo will be Spurs manager on Sunday?
Saint Garrett Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 So there are two things on Twitter from the press conference. Clyne back in training and will be assessed ahead of the weekend (I still think Chambers might start anyway), and that we we're not looking to use the Jan transfer window. What a crap press conference!

What a crap press conference! They don't tend to tweet the 'tittle-tattle' stuff so I assume that means most of the conference was Pochettino being asked about the vacant Spurs job and/or Osvaldo's FA charge
Roger Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Think Clyne will play when fully fit but reckon he will be on bench on weekend.

They should just post a transcript of whats said!
trousers Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 (edited) I thought he could have been more forthright in saying he's not going to spurs. I'm just watching it now. He was pretty forthright IMO....he simply said "I never comment on rumours. Never have done, never will" Nothing to read into that IMO When then asked if rumours about Rickie Lambert potentially leaving were true he replied: "There are always rumours. This season we have rumours that exist from the President to the Kitman!". At which point the reporter asked: "Is the kitman leaving then?" to which MP replied in English: "It's possible..be careful!" Edited 20 December, 2013 by trousers
trousers Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Interesting to see Gazza involved in the possession football aspect of training today....do our keepers always get involved in that side of things or maybe this is extra training for Gazza to get him to feel more comfortable with our 'pass it around the back for a while' style of possession football?

He is comfortable with it. Thats not the problem, he is if anything too comfortable/casual.

Wanna say hi too :-) Not sure why we would play Osvaldo; anonymous at Newcastle and has yet to integrate into our playing style. I would go with the same team in the latter part at Newcastle with Lambert, Davis and lallana behind JRod as his pace will terrify Spurs CBs

I would go with the same team in the latter part at Newcastle with Lambert, Davis and lallana behind JRod as his pace will terrify Spurs CBs Looked pretty well integrated into our style against Citeh at home. Maybe not fitting quite as well away at the moment. Think he will play and then will be rested for a few weeks once his ban is confirmed.
Bearsy Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 my christmas wish is for one of lambart or osvaldo but not both + none of fox, jos or maya. As someone else was saying if dawson is play I'd like to see Jay running at him. Saints 4 - 1 Spurs. Merry christmas!
Saint Garrett Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Would be tempted to play Osvaldo, although I wouldn't be that fussed if Lambert started instead. Think we'll have a lot of the ball, just finding the correct combination to get a few goals. Gazza; Chambers Fonte Lovren Shaw; Morgan Cork; Davis Lallana JRod; Osvaldo Would be my choice.

I would go with the same team in the latter part at Newcastle with Lambert, Davis and lallana behind JRod as his pace will terrify Spurs CBs But how is he going to integrate if he's sat on the bench? I agree he has had some bad games, Newcastle being one of them, but he's had some great games too that show he can offer us a lot. I would play him as much as possible to give him the chance of adapting and integrating into the team.

Saint Charlie Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Townsend, Vertonghen and Kaboul all confirmed as being out for Spurs. Dawson and Chiriches will be the two CBs.
Saint Garrett Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Townsend, Vertonghen and Kaboul all confirmed as being out for Spurs. Dawson and Chiriches will be the two CBs. Marvellous. Get JRod running at them.
Saint Charlie Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Marvellous. Get JRod running at them. Chiriches has looked ok so far I think and Dawson, although not quick is a good defender. In addition, Walker and Rose, whilst dubious footballers are both quick to cover across. I think we can get some joy, but so will they through Gazza and if he plays, Jos Hooiveld.

lickierambert Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Listening to Sherwood on SSN-I'd be quite worried as a Spurs fan. Him talking about the job sounds like a 'fan on the board' talking about commercial matters. The whiff of skate was quite pungent.

studentsaint Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Not sure whether I'd want chambers or Clyne. The argument for hambers is that chadli is spurs biggest aerial threat (needs to be marked by a CB from corners), therefore Clyne would struggle with back post crosses against him. My argument for Clyne is that he is better going forward thatn CC and spurs LB slot is one we should target as there ate few choices. Think gazza, CC, fonte (I hope), lovren, Shaw, schneiderlin, cork, j rod, Davis, Lallana, Lambert. That front 4 creates so many chances at SMS.
SuperMikey Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Would prefer to keep Chambers in for this one, purely so that Clyney gets the extra rest time and is fighting fit for the Cardiff/Everton games. -----------------GAZZA---------------- CHAMBO----FONTE----LOVREN----SHAW ----------MORGAN----CORK------------ ----LALLANA----LAMBERT----JAYROD--- ----------------OSVALDO-------------- Subs: Cropper, Clyne, Hooiveld, S.Davis, JWP, Ramirez, Gallagher Lambert playing just off Osvaldo because I think we can play through their defence - Kaboul and Vertonghen are big misses for them. All of the front 4 capable of scoring goals, get in their faces from the off and give them a torrid time!

Matthew Le God Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Any suggestions of pubs that allow both sets of supporters? Meeting a Spurs fan before the game How will anyone know you are with a Spurs fan unless he chooses to make himself publicly known as such?
Nexstar Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 How will anyone know you are with a Spurs fan unless he chooses to make himself publicly known as such? Pretty sure quite a few pubs ask to show your match ticket before entry.
pingwing Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Pretty sure quite a few pubs ask to show your match ticket before entry. Lloyds or the Angle are a good bet if a bit busy

Sour Mash Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Lloyds or the Angle are a good bet if a bit busy I don't think there are any pubs in Southampton going by either of those names.
SuperMikey Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Met plenty of away fans in the KA before and after games - probably best to make sure he doesn't wear obvious colours and you should be fine. Enjoyed pints with Millwall, Leeds, Everton, Man Utd and Villa fans in there before.
sandwichsaint Posted 20 December, 2013 Posted 20 December, 2013 Met plenty of away fans in the KA before and after games - probably best to make sure he doesn't wear obvious colours and you should be fine. Enjoyed pints with Millwall, Leeds, Everton, Man Utd and Villa fans in there before. Don't know about this season, it hasn't been open much. Last season the KA had to screen off the back yard and ran a strict 'door policy' (show your tkt, home fans only) for certain games as and when directed by the police - Spurs was one of the games that was home fans only. If he doesn't have a home tkt prob best avoid the KA?
