Newcastle v Saints MATCH thread...

Just an opinion I have; if you're an injury doubt and not fit enough to start, you shouldn't be on the bench. Especially so for a centre back, and there is another CB on the bench with you. CBs are on the bench largely for defensive cover, not to shake things up or change formation. If he's not fit to start he should sit out IMO (although admittedly that is rather a black and white approach).

I agree

yet so many managers dont see it that way

some players are in the sqaud knowing they only have 30 mins. or say 70 mins playing time

dave moyes said as such about RvP last week. he kept him on as they were chasing the game and now he is out for 8 games for not taking him off at the 60 min mark (which his fitness team told him was his limit)

we are missing Wanyama big time

they are going right through us

Yep. The possession stats show us as having 67%, but Newcastle move the ball forwards so much more quickly than us and that is the difference. No point having 67% possession if all you are going to do is keep passing back to the keeper and then launching hopeful balls forward.

Bring on Lallana and Morgan early in the second half and lets kick some Geordie butts.

Cork and Chambers having good games, Shaw and JWP also decent. I dont want to jump the bandwagon, but Gazza scares me everytime Newcastle attack. Would Cropper be an improvement? I dont know how long Gazza,s deal run for, but I cant see the club handing him a new one.

1 down, all is not lost. COYR

well. loads of possession but that is from the back 5.

no real attacking threat at all. Ossie has had abolsutely nothing.

they are getting through us all too easily

shocking defending for their goal.

gazza does not look comfortable but he is all we have for now

can see lallana coming of real soon

When people were debating if Wanyama was good enough for us, I mentioned that teams no longer attack through us and very few shots are got away from the edge of the box. For some reason I was sarcastically ripped for saying that, however it's plainly true to me that Wanyama gave us that protection as without him we are taken on time, and time again through the middle.

As good technicaally as Morgan and Cork were last year, we were way too easy to play through and that's why Wanyama was a priority addition.

Get Lambert off ASAP, he's killing any attack we have with his poor use of the ball and poor touch. he's having a mare right now, needs to be dropped for a while.

I agree, it's a big drop off from him since his England games. I'd take him off, get Ramirez on and got back to 4-2-3-1

Chambers again looks excellent, Hooiveld isnt good enough

As an attacking unit that has been a disgrace. Lambert , Rodriguez ,Osvaldo and Davis / Ward Prowse. Some poor defending also.

Only chambers looking interested.

Newcastle are teaching us how to press and their movement is much better.

So Lambert hasn't been defended at all then? I'm sure he was down defending when I watched it?

I hope MP had a good reason for changing the side that outplayed City for a fair chunk of last week's game but it'll take two subs to do that.

If we'd kept the same team I think the score would have been reversed.

Still, I like the changes and think we can win this.
