Since me and dad saw steve moran smash home that late winner v the skates..really that long ago ? frightening , but 28th jan 84 remains my 2nd best saints memory ever

I too was there, an unforgettable afternoon. In terms of games that Ive been to this one comes 2nd only to the 1-0 win at Anfield in 1981, when Steve Moran scored another late winner. Its always good to beat the blue few, but to go to Liverpool, at that time, and come away with a win was something very special.

Crikey, gave me a real shiver down the spine when I remembered it - 30 years! Cant remember much else from that year apart from the memorable matches we had in that great season, and the fact I started a new job that brought me back to Hampshire.

 

Went with new wife and father in law plus Mother in law, she nearly got crushed as we spilled about 20 steps down the terrace when Stevie scored. The bile we got afterwards has never left me…..come on you boys on Tuesday!!

Such a shame we didn't beat those c*nts in our last couple of games. Sickening late equalisers. And with them failing to even be in the pot for our cup draws these days, it could be an eternity before we can put that right again.
