London Hotels - help

OK, it's that time again.

 

So..... say, if you wanted to book a nice little, bespoke, chic hotel not too far from the bright lights (preferably walking distance) of Leicester Square, Soho, Covent Garden etc, would anyone here have any recommendations? Found quite a few off the beaten track but just wondering if anyone has any recommendations themselves? Thank you all in advance! x

Not quaint per se, the wife and I tend to do the cheapies like EasyHotel (which was slightly better than we thought it would be), Travelodge or Premier Inns, but we did have a lovely one night stay at the Radisson Blu on Seven Dials. To be fair, we were upgraded twice to a huge room, but the bed was the best I've EVER slept on.

Club Quarters is a good comfortable business hotel in Northumberland Avenue (Trafalgar Square). They often have discount rates at the weekend.

Mate i can't recommend highly enough travel lodge covent garden at the top end of drury lane , bordering holborn. Used it a few times , cheap too considering it's a 5 min walk from covent garden and 10 min from leicester square, plus the oldest pub in london ( the white hart) you won't find cheaper that central.

Hi guys

 

Just looking at your recommendations now. Found a decent hotel in Ealing (Hotel Xanadu) but the location is a friggin' pain. Looked at some serviced apartments (Premier) in Limehouse and now I'm looking at CitizenM which isn't too far from Covent Garden. I'll take a look at what you guys have recommended too though, thanks so much for the help! :-)

try tune hotels.. not stayed in myself, but they look cheap and are central

The Arch just up from Marble Arch is superb. Their Earl Grey Martini is also superb

The Royal Horseguards, the old Liberal club opposite the London eye. Just a minute or so walk to Trafalgar Square and 5 minutes from Waterloo. Don't pay for a river view,get a room on the back where it is so quiet you think you are in the country. I have had some fantastic deals off the internet for a room there. Walk out for meals, the breakfasts are about 25 quid!

Depends how much you are looking to pay - The Zetter in Clerkenwell is nice, as is The Roseberry which is a serviced apartment setup. The Zetter can get pricey but they do have great rates sometimes. The Roseberry will give you a studio - with full kitchen for around £130. I use The Roseberry for business trips and it is excellent and usually cheaper than any hotel in the same area. They state minimum 7 nights on their site but a quick email will get you a shorter duration.

 

Club Quarters are also good - several around the city.

The Sanderson and St.Martins Lane hotels are both very good and quite central.

My personal favourite is the Covent Garden Hotel (http://www.firmdalehotels.com/london/covent-garden-hotel which is just behind my old office) fantastic cocktails too. Followed by the Atheneum on Piccadilly, The Metropolitan (which is still nice), St Martin's Lane Hotel and the Royal Horseguards.

Stafford by Kempinski is very nice, but more up the other end of Oxford Street. It more depends on your budget.

Yes, but not for 20-odd years. My memory says it was a decent enough hotel. Good location when I was commuting in and out of Euston.

We always stay at Hotel 55, out in Ealing but right next to the tube. Great little place and reasonable prices for London. It's not that far out either to be honest.
