That Osvaldo Goal

A moment of magic. Sheer brilliance.

Hardly makes up for all those other minutes he's spent on the pitch doing f*ck all though. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

What about Lambert? Who's scored precisely 0 goals from open play this season (although credit where its due for his assist against Villa, FK vs Palace and header vs Fulham)

Once Ossie gets a decent run against some of the easier teams he'll get 10+ goals this season which will be a decent return in a first season. I'm sure he'll be able to regularly get 15+ in future seasons.

He has scored from open play, against Fulham.

There is a spot on the field, roughly half way between the corner of the penalty area and the start of the 'D', where a curved, flighted shot will, if executed properly, beat any goalkeeper and score. Dani's goal today demonstrated this to perfection, he took the ball to that spot and curved it in.

It brought to mind other goals from that 'sweet spot' both for and against Saints in recent times. Snodgrass's goal against us at Leeds in 2009-10; David Connolly's against Norwich, Adam Lallana's against Hartlepool in in the 3-1 win etc.

Football, isn't it? - you know...

Marvellous.

There's another one to look out for in the Stoke v Chelsea game today.

See if you can spot it, and maybe win a prize.

Genuine question.... Which was better. Osvaldo's or Lallana's?

I've spoken to the boys in the lab.

Using what we scientists call 'science', they'e been unable to separate the two so far.

However, they will now try to gain a result using a scalpel.

I'd stand back if I were you.

You are genuinely mental arent you  #crackmeup

We were debating this in the pub - Osvaldo's was undoubtedly a better finish, but Lallana's edges it for me for effort, skill and movement.

Agree. Lallana's just edges it for me

Osvaldos, due to the opposition, a top 2 team and internationals rather than a newly promoted team. he left one of the worlds best defenders on his arse and curled it over and round a 6ft 8 keeper.

Sublime finish for that goal, after he jinxed around three or was it four City defenders ? Le Tiss, would have been proud of that, but Osvaldo probably has more body strength to make it happen. Goal of the season so far for me.

Today v Man City, or AL v a defence of taylor's dummies, puts it in perspective.

Anyone notice how he came on to the pitch at the end and hugged all his team mates. Not the behaviour of a man who is unhappy and wants to leave.

He's a player who needs to be "wanted", and feel part of it. If MP can manage his (Osvaldo's) head the we have a hell of a player at our disposal.
