Wiggles31 Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 What a goal. Been very impressed with him last two games. Has 100% earnt a start against Newcastle. Glad to see him improving. Looks very hally/settled. Again though, what a f*cking goal!
110_Persaint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 A moment of magic. Sheer brilliance. Hardly makes up for all those other minutes he's spent on the pitch doing f*ck all though. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Wiggles31 Posted 7 December, 2013 Author Posted 7 December, 2013 Clearly he has been adapting to the PL and has not been as bad as people would make out. He is beginning to settle which is a huge +

Colinjb Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 You buy players like that for their class. He has it in spades and is beginning to show it. Outstanding.
Dalek2003 Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Confidence is the missing ingredient. Hopefully this will do just the trick. Equally important was the acknowledgement from the crowd.
Roger Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 bit like le tissier Seriously wtf. Marty had it all vision passing everything. What a stupid comment .
Wrensup Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Seriously wtf. Marty had it all vision passing everything. What a stupid comment . Think you missed the point....

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. What about Lambert? Who's scored precisely 0 goals from open play this season (although credit where its due for his assist against Villa, FK vs Palace and header vs Fulham) Once Ossie gets a decent run against some of the easier teams he'll get 10+ goals this season which will be a decent return in a first season. I'm sure he'll be able to regularly get 15+ in future seasons.

SaintBobby Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 utterly majestic....looks even betetr than it looked live!
Olallana Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 He has scored from open play, against Fulham. That was a corner, Berbatov missed marking him.
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 bit like le tissier This sums this place up.
Batman Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 This sums this place up. his goal was not a 'bit like' le tissier drifting in and out of a game and then scoring a worldy was not a 'bit like' le tissier, then?
RonManager Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 There is a spot on the field, roughly half way between the corner of the penalty area and the start of the 'D', where a curved, flighted shot will, if executed properly, beat any goalkeeper and score. Dani's goal today demonstrated this to perfection, he took the ball to that spot and curved it in. It brought to mind other goals from that 'sweet spot' both for and against Saints in recent times. Snodgrass's goal against us at Leeds in 2009-10; David Connolly's against Norwich, Adam Lallana's against Hartlepool in in the 3-1 win etc. Football, isn't it? - you know... Marvellous.
shirleysfc Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 This sums this place up. You don't think Le Tissier could leave Kompany on his arse before putting it in the top corner? Strange.
Olallana Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 No wonder if Osvaldo want out with this treatment from teammates....
Barry Sanchez Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Confidence is the missing ingredient. Hopefully this will do just the trick. Equally important was the acknowledgement from the crowd. I thought that was a good touch.
John Boy Saint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 No wonder if Osvaldo want out with this treatment from teammates.... Jose knows exactly what he's doing, the effort of a major wedgie is clear as day on his face!

There's another one to look out for in the Stoke v Chelsea game today. See if you can spot it, and maybe win a prize.
ottery st mary Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Tremendous goal by a very talented footballer. Well done Osvaldo.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Genuine question.... Which was better. Osvaldo's or Lallana's?
RonManager Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Genuine question.... Which was better. Osvaldo's or Lallana's? I've spoken to the boys in the lab. Using what we scientists call 'science', they'e been unable to separate the two so far. However, they will now try to gain a result using a scalpel. I'd stand back if I were you.
SuperMikey Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Genuine question.... Which was better. Osvaldo's or Lallana's? We were debating this in the pub - Osvaldo's was undoubtedly a better finish, but Lallana's edges it for me for effort, skill and movement.
monosaint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Anyone notice how he came on to the pitch at the end and hugged all his team mates. Not the behaviour of a man who is unhappy and wants to leave.

You are genuinely mental arent you #crackmeup We were debating this in the pub - Osvaldo's was undoubtedly a better finish, but Lallana's edges it for me for effort, skill and movement. Agree. Lallana's just edges it for me
trousers Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Anyone notice how he came on to the pitch at the end and hugged all his team mates. Not the behaviour of a man who is unhappy and wants to leave. Yep, noticed that
sammysaint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Him and Lambo need to play together, Lambo was quality linking up with him vs Villa, this will get us more goals which is what we need this season, very ironic how last year we scored for fun but shipped goals, now were the reverse.
skintsaint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 How is that City goal not offside, surely the striker dodging out the way of the ball is interfering!
Turkish Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Genuine question.... Which was better. Osvaldo's or Lallana's? Osvaldos, due to the opposition, a top 2 team and internationals rather than a newly promoted team. he left one of the worlds best defenders on his arse and curled it over and round a 6ft 8 keeper.
Badger Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Sublime finish for that goal, after he jinxed around three or was it four City defenders ? Le Tiss, would have been proud of that, but Osvaldo probably has more body strength to make it happen. Goal of the season so far for me. We were debating this in the pub - Osvaldo's was undoubtedly a better finish, but Lallana's edges it for me for effort, skill and movement. Today v Man City, or AL v a defence of taylor's dummies, puts it in perspective. Anyone notice how he came on to the pitch at the end and hugged all his team mates. Not the behaviour of a man who is unhappy and wants to leave. He's a player who needs to be "wanted", and feel part of it. If MP can manage his (Osvaldo's) head the we have a hell of a player at our disposal.
Badger Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 The comparison for me is not so much MLT , but Frank Worthington in his prime, a tall skilful CF with great skill, but only 'play's when fully focused and motivated. And the hairstyle !
Whitey Grandad Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 How is that City goal not offside, surely the striker dodging out the way of the ball is interfering! Chambers is playing him onside.
Turkish Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 I'm nts one to whinge a out the media, but I can't believe MOTD didn't mention it in their analysis. More praise for us though.
dentyne bus Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 I'm nts one to whinge a out the media, but I can't believe MOTD didn't mention it in their analysis. More praise for us though. I'm thought exactly the same ! Completely bizarre, especially when ita contender for goal of the month or eve season
saint lard Posted 8 December, 2013 Posted 8 December, 2013 He is and will be an inigma.....just like Matt Le Tissier.... give him time....he's pure class.
Graffito Posted 8 December, 2013 Posted 8 December, 2013 Osvaldo created the goal for himself but the move that put him through started with a tackle deep in our penalty box.
Turkish Posted 8 December, 2013 Posted 8 December, 2013 Osvaldo created the goal for himself but the move that put him through started with a tackle deep in our penalty box. Nd what a tackle it was too! get that even slightly wrong its a pen! was a quality bit of defending.
Mowgli Posted 8 December, 2013 Posted 8 December, 2013 For me the tackle that started it makes it goal of the season so far. I loved the text into Solent that said he still didn't deserve to be on the pitch and 'who's to say Lambert would not have scored it anyway'. You have to laugh.
