Mr X Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 So we are fielding A squad just of gaston god help us
Roger Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 If fit I'd play him. Need something new, everyone's shattered.
Batman Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 If fit I'd play him. Need something new, everyone's shattered. why on earth would you say everyone is shattered?
Wiggles31 Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 I'd play him. He hasn't had much of a chance this season so give him one. Start him with Osvaldo.
Smirking_Saint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 why on earth would you say everyone is shattered? Id say its pretty obvious that we are running on low gas and picking up knocks, I expect a few may even be playing with knocks who knows ? Id stick Ramirez in there if fit, change the system slightly, I cant see us managing our pressing game without both VW and MS. Ramirez has quality, he was better last year then his detractors say, give him a go Id say.
Whitey Grandad Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Too right he should. We need all the top class players we can scrape together out there.
Deanovski Posted 7 December, 2013 Author Posted 7 December, 2013 Every one looked tired against Chelsea And villa. You just get this feeling him and osvaldo would be immense.
Batman Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Every one looked tired against Chelsea And villa. no they never
Pedro Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Yes, he is a talented player and needs games, with so many injuries his inclusion should not be a difficult decision. If he's not in the squad today then he is either still ill, injured, very unfit or out of favour and on his way. I suppose that's every reason covered.
Smirking_Saint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 no they never They did, both mentally and physically. The levels of injury (mainly muscular) says to me that we are working very very hard both at training and in games. Added to this some poor decision making that frankly is uncharacteristic and Id suggest the players are tired. Shattered ? Probably not that extreme but Id say they are getting heavy legs yes

Probably not that extreme but Id say they are getting heavy legs yes I would disagree. thought we battered villa. play that game another 9 times and we win. anyway, if gaston cant get into the match day sqaud today, then god help him
Olallana Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 They did, both mentally and physically. The levels of injury (mainly muscular) says to me that we are working very very hard both at training and in games. Added to this some poor decision making that frankly is uncharacteristic and Id suggest the players are tired. Shattered ? Probably not that extreme but Id say they are getting heavy legs yes Isn´t Morgan pretty much the only one with a muscular injury, at least if you look at the first XI?? VW bone injury, Boruc bone injury, Clyne groin...
Smirking_Saint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Isn´t Morgan pretty much the only one with a muscular injury, at least if you look at the first XI?? VW bone injury, Boruc bone injury, Clyne groin... VW was bone ? My mistake, I thought it was muscular. I just think we look a tad tired personally, maybe wrong, just not playing with the intensity that we can. Villa yeah, should have won that one, very strange game as yes we stuffed them, but again we struggled to create anything really clear cut so perhaps Gaston is the man to do it ?
Olallana Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 VW was bone ? My mistake, I thought it was muscular. Villa yeah, should have won that one, very strange game as yes we stuffed them, but again we struggled to create anything really clear cut so perhaps Gaston is the man to do it ? Apparently a hairline fracture on VW. But I do agree we looked a bit tired perhaps but Villa were never gonna let us press since they only played it long (and didn´t have any possession of the ball to speak of). We also lacked a bit of urgency the last 15-20 against Chelsea imo so I can agree. Yeah I want to see Gaston and Osvaldo together before giving up on him. He´s still a great player even if he might not suit our style but I´d like to see him get some chances at least.... I think we need a proper no.10 behind Osvaldo to get the best out of him, if that´s Gaston or not is another question though.
david in sweden Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 in short ...YES. Let's see what he's really capable of. For those who have doubts (and let's face it - there are quite a few of those) now is the chance for Gaston to show whatever quality it is that he possesses and convince us that he was a good investment. If he doesn't .....there would seem little future for him in a Pochettino team.
Wade Garrett Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Every one looked tired against Chelsea And villa. You just get this feeling him and osvaldo would be immense. Definitely worth a try, but I have a feeling it will never happen.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Not a chance of it happening. But I wouldn't put a non-match fit, unwilling player into what will prove the most difficult test of the season. Would rather play our best Academy player frankly.
sandwichsaint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 We lost at Arsenal and Chelsea no real surprises, but unfortunately the changes against Villa cost us, normal back 5 and we win that 2-0. problems now are going forward, any injury to Boruc was going to leave us horribly exposed and that's exactly what's happened. Shaw and Cork both been below par last two games and suspect both carrying g niggles in the last two games, Clyne now confirmed. looking at Tuesday looks like lovren possibly and Fonte definitely not 100/ . Ms out with unspecified 'muscular' problem. that looks to me like 5 of the back 7 have developed or are on the way to developing fatigue related injuries, the other two have broken bones from relatively innocuous collisions. Proclamations of two players for each position now looking very hollow. Take out Boruc, one of he CHS, MS and VW and we start to look like a Capital Cup side. hindsight is a wonderful thing but we are right up against it now for the Xmas fixture rush, time for MP to come up with a credible plan B and to limit our losses till we can get through to the window.
toofarnorth Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 I'd play him and give him a chance it what is likely a lost cause of a game anyway. Drop Lallana back into centre midfield with Cork. We'll lose lallana's attacking threat a bit, but we have no better player on the ball than him.
Toadhall Saint Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 no they never Agreed - you don't get that amount of possession (Villa esp) if your all knackered.
Manuel Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Often disappoints but one of those players that I always want to give another chance to prove me wrong.
pangy Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 I always thought that as long as RL was the main striker you would never see the best of Gaston,he is a playmaker that will like to feed the ball through to a striker that can play off the last man,RL is not that type of player so when Gaston plays with RL he is very ineffective,Osvaldo seems to be that type of player as we have seen by Totti feeding him goals balls to score at Roma but we dont have that type of player in the squad at the moment. I genuinally believe that GR & Ossie can be a magical partnership together but whether we ever see it who knows
Leslie Charteris Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Why not? The team will have to play a little differently today due to the injuries, so playing him would mean City would not know exactly what to expect from us. With our usual first team they would know just what they are getting.
Saint_Tony Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 He'll be in the squad just for the fact we have so many out. Can we afford to play him? No. Need 100% work rate and commitment today against the best side in the country, he's not the man to do it
NickG Posted 7 December, 2013 Posted 7 December, 2013 Reason we didn't press as much against Villa - pressing is to get possession, Villa didn't have any! Three defeats going into tough game with players missing is a test fro confidence . But... We went into arsenal game with chance to go top. After game Martin Kewoen said felt arsenal were lucky. Half time at Chelsea all reports saying leading and deservedly so. We've lost our best, and most influential player (ms). With injuries to Boruc, Clyne, Fonts, Wanyama, Schbeiderlin we still managed the most one sided game if season (radio 5 reports) somehow we lost... Hopefully grind something out today, goal from GR??
