I am really struggling to understand all this rubbish I am hearing from people about Lambert not playing well. I listened to a couple of numptys going on about it at the villa game behind.

I didn't play football to a great standard only ever played at conference level but I do know enough to know that he is playing as well as ever this season, his positional play the amount of work he is doing and THE SPACE he creates FOR THE TEAM is exceptional. His assist stats are great and he is helping the team, just get to match and watch him properly and you will see!!!

He is still a good player, but from a team point of view his inclusion isnt working. He works hard, has decent vision and his movement is ok but he is just not mobile enough to be effective in this side. Unfortunately he has become a victim of the extreme pressing game we have here. When you win it high up the pitch you need quick incisive movement behind and to be able to run onto through balls. Thats never been Rickies game, hence why he looks better for england as the tactical set up is one that allows him to play to his strengths more.

He was a whisker away from scoring our goal of the season after some great work, he was a whisker away from setting up our goal of the season for Lallana, and he set up Osvaldo to score. He is very much capable of playing in this system.

In the AM three maybe, but not as a lone striker he isnt

Unfortunately, Lambert is the only current team player than can slide the through ball.. which somewhat defeats your argument.

He is definitely not playing to his usual high standards but the reason is unclear; carrying an injury, tiredness sue to this pressing style.. hopefully its just a dip in form.

The club have already indentified this which is why they bought Osvaldo.

He's been so much better than Osvaldo this season. Maybe he's not getting many goals because of the system we play, but he's always a handful, gets loads of assists, links play brilliantly. We're a better side with Lambert in it. Especially if we're on the back foot - without him the ball goes up the pitch but never sticks, with him we've got an outlet and a way of regaining possession high up the pitch rather than just clearing and waiting for it to come back. Chelsea game was a prime example of this.

I'm glad someone on here has some proper football knowledge well bloody said… You'd love the guy who is next to me, apparently Wanyama is our worst signing in years, Rodriguez makes pointless runs and don't get me started on what he thinks of Osvaldo

Whilst all those things your 'friend' has identified are completely rediculous Id stick to my original assessment that Lambert isnt the man to play uptop on his own, he looks better when we change things and when he plays deeper but uptop with this style of game he just looks lost and ineffective.

I said early in the season to buy a different style of striker with better mobility (osvaldo) or change the gameplan to suit Rickie. Ossie hasnt been that bad but he has struggled at times, part of this is a lack of any real service though. Lets not pretend Im sat here slagging off Rickie, Im not, I fully appreciate his talents Im just trying to be objective.

SRL has continued to perform within the constraints imposed by the system played. The key issue is that our main scorer in the past was successful due to the type of delivery into the box - typified by his first touch goal for England. Now we don't play like that - its all about quick short pass movements with the ball being worked into box so possession is not lost and the best contribution Lambert can offer is as the provider. He's good at that, but this also needs very good finishers to be in the right position to score - and therein lies the problem...we don't have enough clinical finishers or the attacking players have yet to 'click'. The evidence is in the number of goals we score now...significantly less. But this is specifically not the fault of Lambert...its a team dilemna that Poch needs to sort out.

I don't get it either - I thought he had a good game against Villa....when he drops deep his passing is superb, my only wish is that he would shoot more rather than trying that final pass on the edge of the area

Other than goal osvaldo wasn't great. Lambert more of team player according to soccer sat boys!

This.

Did have two chances after which he should have done much better with. Nobody ever doubted his talent, just been very very very very limited so far.

One great goal does not make a good player, still has alot to prove.

Jordan robertson scored a better goal for us once.

If you went to game you would realise that osvaldo wasn't great other than amazing goal.

Was playing today and not seen game yet. Just think he has that little bit more, not saying drop Rickie completely just dont think he can lead the line for us in the tactics we play, for a start he has only scored 1 in open play.

He still has his place, either with Ossie with 2 uptop or in the attacking midfield 3.

According to anyone who's ever seen Osvaldo play I should think. Even Zaha is more of a team player than Osvaldo at the moment, the one downside of his obvious talent.

Would like to see one game, just one game, where all five of Osvaldo, Jayrod, Lambert, Lallana and Ramirez start. Really miss those Nigel days of free flowing, attacking, ENTERTAINING football.

What a ****ing bellend...... it aint gonna get much better than this mush

Yep, there was one moment in the first half (which I think was the first highlight on sky sports) where he had the ball on the edge of the box, ignored the pass inside and took his man on, ignored the pass wide and tried it again and gave the ball away. At the time I thought he was just being indecisive, but watching it back he was genuinely trying to get through by himself.

Get down to Reading then, better make it quick though, he's going to be sacked soon. I know you're banned but as you have multiple user names it shouldn't much matter.
