Dalek2003 Posted 5 December, 2013 Share Posted 5 December, 2013 2 weeks, 4 defeats, 0 points, and a clutch of injuries could leave our confidence, morale and indeed the season in tatters. Let's pray we pull something out of the mire. Well, maybe dreams of a top 10 finish in tatters but still plenty to play for. We will have to grind out results. All that matters at the end of the day is finishing above the bottom 3.
S-Clarke Posted 5 December, 2013 Share Posted 5 December, 2013 jay rod is an odd one. fumbles the ball out of play one moment from an easy pass. then scores or tries a belter the next definitely our welbeck He does remind me of Welbeck sometimes! Doesn't look capable, and then does something top class out of nowhere! He's defiantly our best outlet in terms of stretching sides though. I am a big fan of Jay though, I think he'll be a top class player for us.
SaintSteve Posted 5 December, 2013 Share Posted 5 December, 2013 Well, maybe dreams of a top 10 finish in tatters but still plenty to play for. We will have to grind out results. All that matters at the end of the day is finishing above the bottom 3. A somewhat defeatist attitude... given no expectation of points away to Arsenal/Chelsea; its one off game defensively. We will still finish top ten as there are a lot of average EPL sides.
Dark Munster Posted 5 December, 2013 Share Posted 5 December, 2013 Have faith - we beat Man City last year with a weaker side than the one which will go out on Saturday (despite the injuries). You'd expect to lose away at Arsenal and Chelsea and let's face it we ran them close..we played well in patches against Villa but got hit my three sucker punch goals. Yes, we defended poorly in places but how many times do you see 3 shots, 3 goals? It's a freak result and everyone gets those. I have confidence MP will sort out the defence. Let's just get behind the team. 4 defeats from 4 wouldn't be ideal but it looks worse as a stat and not quite as bad when you consider the circumstances. We have not become a bad side in the space of one week and I sincerely hope the players know that (even though many of the usual suspects on here think otherwise). This ^ Team that beat Citeh 3-1: Boruc, Clyne, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Fox (Richardson 71), Cork, Schneiderlin, S. Davis (Ward-Prowse 80), Puncheon (Lallana 61), Rodriguez, Lambert. Subs not used: K. Davis, Forren, Lee, Chaplow.

PhilippineSaint Posted 6 December, 2013 Share Posted 6 December, 2013 Whichever team goes out tomorrow they should play with out fear as they are expected to lose by all and sundry except a couple of positive minded Saints fans which is even hard to find on here. Should go out and win about 3-1 if the normal gods of fate are working.
Saint Garrett Posted 6 December, 2013 Share Posted 6 December, 2013 Fonte struggling too. Maybe Hooiveld and Lovren at the back - wouldn't play Yoshida again after last game. So thats Boruc, Davis, Clyne, Fonte, Fox, Wanyama, Schneiderlin all missing from our defensive positions.....Noonoe will expect us to not lose tomorrow so might as well just get out there and have a go at them. Tom28 Posted 6 December, 2013 Share Posted 6 December, 2013 Gazza Chambers Fonte Lovren Shaw JWP Cork Davis Lallana Rodriguez Osvaldo Subs: Cropper, Hooiveld, Yoshida, Ramirez, Reed, Gallagher, Lambert I've always been a huge Lambert fan, but he's been badly off form over the last few games. Osvaldo hasn't been much better but at least he's looking like he will get on the ball. Lambert was a passenger in that Villa game. Fancy Davis to pop up with a goal again against City. melmacian_saint Posted 6 December, 2013 Share Posted 6 December, 2013 odd to see norwich's super, amazing signings doing poorly Injuries aside, their signings are not that super. The only one I think they'll struggle to hold because of quality is Leroy Fer. Other than that they missed a good chance to splash the cash on a partner to Bassong, a winger at least of the same quality as Snodgrass and a better holding midfielder than Bradley Johnson. They also got their attacking signings wrong, as they've basically signed two 6-yard box poachers but have no good players to service them apart from endless deep crosses hoping for a break. Chris Hughton is a good man but a very poor manager who I fear has destroyed the potential the Norwich project had with Paul Lambert. He is too defensive and not even in an efficient way. I've watched Norwich a few times and I feel they've got the potential to play better but they're being let down by tactics of playing long, being positionally strict all across the pitch, shoving it to the wing and launching rockets into the area and anxiously waiting for a tap in. Their possession game is scandalously poor for the PL, and without Fer god knows what it would look like. If it wasn't for Norwich's "family" ownership structure, he would've gone on the back of his terrible run last year. Certainly does not deserve the good press he gets. shurlock Posted 6 December, 2013 Share Posted 6 December, 2013 Chambers is fine at RB, was great earlier in the season. Central defence if Fonte is out, and GK are far more of a concern. Chambers can be got out quite easily - West Brom who were otherwise toothless had plenty of joy down our right hand side and Redmond ran him ragged in the Norwich game. And of course he offers very little going forward in a team starved of width and pace.

And of course he offers very little going forward in a team starved of width and pace. Very harsh. The Norwich game he was against Redmond who was on form, and was given no protection. He played well in the first few games and is a very good prospect. Re going forward, Shaw was conservative when he first came into the team, doubtless on the instructions of the Management team. Chambers is very capable in an attacking sense. People talk about Gallagher, Reed etc but Chambers is by far the best young player we have outside of JWP and Shaw. Bewildered Posted 6 December, 2013 Share Posted 6 December, 2013 Without Morgan, Wanyama, Boruc, Clyne and possibly Fonte I don't see a positive result, but you never know. Would like to see us taking some risks with our attacking options as the defensive possession based tactics won't work against the likes of City as we aren't good enough to monopolise possession against them. If He's available I would not mind seeing Ramirez given a go as the central attacking midfielder with Lallana and Rodriguez either side of him and Osvaldo up top.
