come on... it's not like we're playing terribly?! we're getting 70+% possession. all villa are doing are defending the whole of this first half except for that counter attack... anyone reading this thread would think we're getting pummeled

Nope, just that we are completely toothless and due to a dodgy back 5, vulnerable to counter-attack.

Its all well and good having possession but you need to do something with it, the stat most important is score.

We seem to have lost our early season positivity going forward. Players seem to stop and look around then pass backward rather than driving further forward. Maybe the couple of losses has made them feel vulnerable and nervous.

**** me. The dour brummy commentary I have to listen too is more upbeat about our chances than the manic depressives on here. Laughable

Some of our final balls have been turd

We don't really have anyone who passes with genuine authority (with the possible exception of Lambert). When most of our players want to play a high-precision ball they have to take a lot of pace off it to get any sort of accuracy. JWP seems the most likely to be capable of it, but for obvious reasons lacks a bit of confidence for now.

Just need to keep our heads and our belief. Not look to force the issue too much, or play too direct. Don't panic either.

Poor goal to concede, Yoshida didn't deal with Agbonlahor, and perhaps that's a little rustyness from not having played yet this season.

Other than that, we've dominated most of the half and there is a solid platform to build on. Now we need to push on and score. Twice.

Keep the faith.

rodriguez and lambert have been appalling. as was yoshida.

other than that, gazza has had nothing to do what so ever

should really have been in front.

we are very much down the middle at the mo..even the full back (shaw in particular) get so far in their half and pass it sideways

A dodgy back 5? Please tell me you never said that and it was caused by a virus!!! Lmao. Does this site attract netball fans or something. My god! !!!

One silly mistake by Yoshi and we are one down. Other than that we have been all over them. Major disappointment this evening has been some of the trolling w##kers on here tonight. This used to be a good footballing forum, not simply a site for some loser to get their pointless kicks.

Anyone else feel that this could be a pivotal moment in our season?? After exceeding expectations for so long, two away defeats at tough grounds, this is the kind of game which will show just what we're really all about and have the nous, management skills and calibre of player to deliver??

Well said Minty, sure for the usual 'three' our season is over, Cortese is clueless, Mopo has no idea and 'OsWaldo' is crap but for the rest of us supporters time to get behind the lads for the second half and let's turn it round

Listen, people. We are by far... by FAR... the better team. Anyone can see that. We could easily be a goal or two up. And chances are we come back and win this one. But there's a huge luck/random/break-of-the-ball factor in every game. If we were 2-1 up on almost exact same performance, we'd be purring. So get behind the team, and look forward to an exciting second half! I thought Lallana, Lambert (except for a couple of miskicks), Clyne, Shaw, Lovren, Wanyama, all put in a fine shift. Some of Lallana's tricks breathtaking. If there's any justice, this one goes 3-1.

Not so much just this game, but This month will definitely show what this squad is really capable of this season.

We've clearly not been the better team as they've put the ball in the net more times than us, the general aim of the game.

Nah.

It was bloody obvious what was going to happen this month. A series of tough games.....

One of the issues with asking the fullbacks to bomb forward is that typically, in our good run, they would do so often (sometimes for extended periods) and JWP would fill in as acting right back and Morgan the same on the left. Not sure, but possibly having both of those missing now may affect the fullback play a little. Just a thought.
