St Chalet Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Villa look gash, bit more poise up front and we will stroll this.
alpine_saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 come on... it's not like we're playing terribly?! we're getting 70+% possession. all villa are doing are defending the whole of this first half except for that counter attack... anyone reading this thread would think we're getting pummeled Nope, just that we are completely toothless and due to a dodgy back 5, vulnerable to counter-attack.
JoeShmoe Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 I see the usual trolls are ruining it for the rest on here.......again. Put the three of them on Ignore ... the thread is MUCH better
Viking Saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Is Osvaldo coming on purely tactical or has JWP picked up a knock?
Suhari Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Interesting that Clyne seems to be staying back more, with Lovren stepping out into midfield.
alpine_saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Put the three of them on Ignore ... the thread is MUCH better And totally pointless.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Possesion means nothing if you do nothing with it. We need more width, far to easy Awful game so far
Barry Sanchez Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 come on... it's not like we're playing terribly?! we're getting 70+% possession. all villa are doing are defending the whole of this first half except for that counter attack... anyone reading this thread would think we're getting pummeled Its all well and good having possession but you need to do something with it, the stat most important is score.
Steel City Saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 We seem to have lost our early season positivity going forward. Players seem to stop and look around then pass backward rather than driving further forward. Maybe the couple of losses has made them feel vulnerable and nervous.
Barry Sanchez Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Villa look gash, bit more poise up front and we will stroll this. How do you think we will get more poise?
dubai_phil Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 We never mix it up And so we are now playing hoofball
influx Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 **** me. The dour brummy commentary I have to listen too is more upbeat about our chances than the manic depressives on here. Laughable
BotleySaint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 1-0 HT .. much to do second half. Hope for a draw.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Osvaldo looks hungry tonight.... We have to get the ball to him quicker, at least give him a chance
Batman Posted 4 December, 2013 Author Posted 4 December, 2013 hopefully will turn out like last season. where we hit them in the 2nd half
St Chalet Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 How do you think we will get more poise? No idea, that's why we employ a professional manager.
verlaine1979 Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Some of our final balls have been turd We don't really have anyone who passes with genuine authority (with the possible exception of Lambert). When most of our players want to play a high-precision ball they have to take a lot of pace off it to get any sort of accuracy. JWP seems the most likely to be capable of it, but for obvious reasons lacks a bit of confidence for now.
Bewildered Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Full Backs, especially Clyne, need to get forward more second half. So much unexploited space out there.
Minty Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Just need to keep our heads and our belief. Not look to force the issue too much, or play too direct. Don't panic either. Poor goal to concede, Yoshida didn't deal with Agbonlahor, and perhaps that's a little rustyness from not having played yet this season. Other than that, we've dominated most of the half and there is a solid platform to build on. Now we need to push on and score. Twice. Keep the faith.
Batman Posted 4 December, 2013 Author Posted 4 December, 2013 rodriguez and lambert have been appalling. as was yoshida. other than that, gazza has had nothing to do what so ever should really have been in front. we are very much down the middle at the mo..even the full back (shaw in particular) get so far in their half and pass it sideways
influx Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Nope, just that we are completely toothless and due to a dodgy back 5, vulnerable to counter-attack. A dodgy back 5? Please tell me you never said that and it was caused by a virus!!! Lmao. Does this site attract netball fans or something. My god! !!!
Scoobysaint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 One silly mistake by Yoshi and we are one down. Other than that we have been all over them. Major disappointment this evening has been some of the trolling w##kers on here tonight. This used to be a good footballing forum, not simply a site for some loser to get their pointless kicks.

Viking Saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Anyone else feel that this could be a pivotal moment in our season?? After exceeding expectations for so long, two away defeats at tough grounds, this is the kind of game which will show just what we're really all about and have the nous, management skills and calibre of player to deliver??
Barry Sanchez Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 No idea, that's why we employ a professional manager. I cant imagine telling someone in a professional manner in a changing room to get more poise wont work.
Olallana Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Alpine on the match thread when we´re behind......that´s not gonna make anyone rich if they put a bet on that...
adrian lord Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 I'm getting ****ed at a restaurant in Mayfair. Is it meltdown yet?
Wrensup Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Hopefully we tire them out or somethings. It's good to watch but ain't scored yet! At least we now look more like scoring I think.
JoeShmoe Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Just need to keep our heads and our belief. Not look to force the issue too much, or play too direct. Don't panic either. Well said Minty, sure for the usual 'three' our season is over, Cortese is clueless, Mopo has no idea and 'OsWaldo' is crap but for the rest of us supporters time to get behind the lads for the second half and let's turn it round
NewYorkSaint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Listen, people. We are by far... by FAR... the better team. Anyone can see that. We could easily be a goal or two up. And chances are we come back and win this one. But there's a huge luck/random/break-of-the-ball factor in every game. If we were 2-1 up on almost exact same performance, we'd be purring. So get behind the team, and look forward to an exciting second half! I thought Lallana, Lambert (except for a couple of miskicks), Clyne, Shaw, Lovren, Wanyama, all put in a fine shift. Some of Lallana's tricks breathtaking. If there's any justice, this one goes 3-1.

Not so much just this game, but This month will definitely show what this squad is really capable of this season.
Pastor Patrón Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Listen, people. We are by far... by FAR... the better team. Anyone can see that. We could easily be a goal or two up. We've clearly not been the better team as they've put the ball in the net more times than us, the general aim of the game.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Players are not playing with confidence or crispness. It can come but we need to be careful on the break.
Manuel Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 With 75% possession we'd better get Lambert and Osvaldo involved next half or we've got a serious attacking blockage.
Scoobysaint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Got a couple of quid on 3-1 Saints win. Think if we get one we will get three, need that first one early though, pen hopefully.
Batman Posted 4 December, 2013 Author Posted 4 December, 2013 Mods reaction to people questioning the obvious trolls is bore off that is what your 5er pays for folk
dubai_phil Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Anyone else feel that this could be a pivotal moment in our season?? After exceeding expectations for so long, two away defeats at tough grounds, this is the kind of game which will show just what we're really all about and have the nous, management skills and calibre of player to deliver?? Nah. It was bloody obvious what was going to happen this month. A series of tough games..... & MP won Manager of the Month in November
Bobbyboy Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 One of the issues with asking the fullbacks to bomb forward is that typically, in our good run, they would do so often (sometimes for extended periods) and JWP would fill in as acting right back and Morgan the same on the left. Not sure, but possibly having both of those missing now may affect the fullback play a little. Just a thought.
Pastor Patrón Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 It's cool though, Lamberts not finished, he does lots of valuable link up play.
dubai_phil Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 I'm getting ****ed at a restaurant in Mayfair. Is it meltdown yet? Another 20 mins & Alpwhine will only have Dirty Sanchez left to argue with
Glasgow_Saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 I fancy an Osvaldo double this half! All will be forgiven if this comes true 2-1 saints come on
