S-Clarke Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 What is there to discuss exactly? They're 19th, we're 7th. End of thread.
Turkish Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 We are sliding down the table, they are on the up. I expect someone on their mongboard has started a thread tonight entitled '8th placed finish and southampton to be relegated?' Whilst others claim their current squad could finish 6th.
Saint_clark Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 So transferred over the rest of the season we've won 9 more which is another 27 points.
trousers Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 (edited) Chelsea have only won 2 more than us. Man City have lost 1 more than us. Arsenal have lost 1 less than us. Man Utd have won the same as us. Discuss... Edited 3 December, 2013 by trousers
Maggie May Posted 3 December, 2013 Author Posted 3 December, 2013 Should Lowe have appointed Pulis when he had the chance? Hindsight is a wonderful concept.
TheSpankBoy Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 Chelsea have only won 2 more than us. Man City have lost 1 more than us. Arsenal have lost 1 less than us. Man Utd have won the same as us. Discuss... Thats a favourable comparable record with teams I expect to be in the top 6.
110_Persaint Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 Been saying all season we've been flattering to deceive... really all that has changed since last season is a tighter defence (wanyama + lovren) and Lallana finally starting to perform at the level he's capable of. Other than that, the same problems as last season are quite apparent - failure to play the final ball, too much possession, not enough width, and lack of cutting edge upfront. If you really dissect our results and the goals we've scored you'll find there was a lot of luck involved and we were let off the hook too many times (United, Liverpool come to mind). Same old Saints I guess.
Cascadia Saint Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 We play like us, Palace play like palace. Discuss.
SNSUN Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 We're **** and we know we are, we're ****, and we know we are........
Saints Warrior Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 Its a survival game first, and we only need about 22 more points which should be attainable when back to full strength and or jan window 1/2 players in. Palace will shock all the pundits if they get more points than Saints. Saints now have players out and not on form, Palace will lose players and if in ket bottom 6 games then the slide will be back on. Saints to finish 9th Palace 19th

shurlock Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 Am sure the Everton mongboard is losing sleep over exactly the same issue. Mongboarders unite.
Bearsy Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 It was worse earlier in the season, i think it was before the West Brom game when we hadn't picked up a single point more that Palace. Pretty embarrassing.
Wrensup Posted 3 December, 2013 Posted 3 December, 2013 It was worse earlier in the season, i think it was before the West Brom game when we hadn't picked up a single point more that Palace. Pretty embarrassing. Didn't they even start the league ahead of us or something, I swear?

Hamilton Saint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Palace have lost 7 more than Saints. Discuss that!
hans gruber Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Summary: We're the same, except we defend better and attack better oh and i think the midfield is slightly better. so exactly the same except different
St Marco Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 What a stupid thread. They have only played Man utd and Liverpool away... We have played them and Arsenal and Chelsea away. Three of the top 4. We have double their points....
AussieDog Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Only 3 teams have lost less than us. Only 5 teams have won more. Palace have drawn the same amount as Arsenal and Man City. Their goal difference is 20 worse than ours. We have 2 ex-Palace players, they have 2 ex-Saints players. Any more pointless statistics worth discussing?
Saint86 Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Bullsh*t, the opposite is true - the goals we've conceded have mostly been flukey/lucky bounces/mistakes. So against chelsea, we let in 3 goals... none of which were fluke or bad luck... Just poor defending as was highlighted on sky. Arsenal carved us apart with ease, okay the first goal was sloppy, but they also hit the post twice before that, and the goal was another defending error. Stats wise we did okay vs the Arse, but they were far far more dangerous. We have also lost to Sunderland (weakened team granter), secured a 2-0 win against fulham who I would say are the worst team in the league and who have been beaten by most teams since via a higher margin. We were also outplayed by swansea and got lucky. There is a case to argue saying that we have flattered to deceive... We are hard to beat, and in general we make less mistakes than the teams we beat... hence getting some wins. But we are getting shown up vs the big sides. Therefore there is room for improvement. To say that we are unlucky to have lost these games due to flukes/mistakes etc is to gloss over the fact that we need to be better to achieve what we want.... Don't understand why people accept mediocrity, nor why people take labeling performances as mediocre is in anyway not supporting the team. They are simply a statement of fact. When we were 3rd people were banging on about being in a title race, we even had threads on here about it... now we have had a wake up call and can see where we are in relation to arsenal and chelsea... the first we could maybe have sneaked a draw (with luck) the second put us roundly in our place, especially when you consider how badly they underperformed in the first half, and how they raised their game and turned it around in 30min. So if people want to on the one hand get all high in the clouds over good results, they need to also accept that to sustain that level of performances the club/team need to improve certain areas. And an acknowledgement of those areas is being bloody honest. The concerns at the moment are over fitness and injury levels, lack of clear goalscoring chances and offset against that is the number of defensive mistakes we have made. Prior to Chelsea, 3 of the last 4 goals we let in were due to defensive mistakes/cock ups - needs to be tighter, and vs chelsea we just got out tactic'd (no shame) and made defensive lapses with the marking. (some want to blame gaza 0.o)
110_Persaint Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Bullsh*t, the opposite is true - the goals we've conceded have mostly been flukey/lucky bounces/mistakes. You mean we gifted these goals to the opposition? Big difference between sloppy mistakes and "luck."
Monkou Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Clearly a stupid post, but looking at the table it is true that a few more defeats and we could quickly go on a slide. A few years ago Blackpool had an amazing start, admittedly not for as long as ours, and ended up going down. I dont think that will happen for us, we have a quality squad and will finish top 8 but none the less, Villa is massive tonight.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 You mean we gifted these goals to the opposition? Big difference between sloppy mistakes and "luck." I thought flukes don't count? Or do they only not count when we score them?
Dalek2003 Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 If we win tonight we can carry on dreaming. If we lose then our dreams will start being a little less pleasant.
Judge_B Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 I think more concerning is we've only won three more games than Torquay, and look where they are
Dr Who? Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 We only have 1 more point than the skates. Cambridge have loads more points than us!
shurlock Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 You mean we gifted these goals to the opposition? Big difference between sloppy mistakes and "luck." I prefer your alter ego Glasgow Saint - and that's saying something sunshine.
Dr Who? Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 No. Go on, go on, go on, Go on, go on, go on,
Dr Who? Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 If we win tonight we can carry on dreaming. If we lose then our dreams will start being a little less pleasant. Agreed, we need to get back on track tonight to continue the dream of the top 6. Get 6 points from the next 2 games and back on it!

Dalek2003 Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Agreed, we need to get back on track tonight to continue the dream of the top 6. Get 6 points from the next 2 games and back on it! That's how I see it. If we win tonight it will settle nerves on our recent injuries and stop any meltdown in confidence. TBH, the Chelski and Arsenal results will not be season definers, nor will our game against City, but tonights game could be. The reason; because it is a winnable game.
Pugwash Posted 4 December, 2013 Posted 4 December, 2013 Go on, go on, go on, Go on, go on, go on, You should know I don't drink tea.

Eurosaint thanks for the laugh buddy, needed that as a cheer me up after the wave of negativity on this forum after being unlucky against villa. I'd like to pick out the highlight in a sea of bullsh:t ! We did lose to Sunderland ! :mcinnes: I think you'll also find that Arsenal hit the post twice before they scored Don't know if you follow the games or not? But doubting it tbh. I think you'll also find that there was a thread about us being in a title race on this forum - so that wasn't BS either. And also, we do have issues with our overall fitness/injuries developing.... which part of what I wrote was bull****? Because literally what you wrote was just wrong In addition, thanks for the insightful comments discussing the teams issues. moron. S-Clarke Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 Only two now, mates. I believe you're lost. Just google skatesonline, you'll find your home.
kpturner Posted 18 December, 2013 Posted 18 December, 2013 We did lose to Sunderland Is a result by the reserves in the capital one cup relevant then?
