FWIW my opinion of Ramirez is that he hasn't lived up to his price tag. I suppose it's a sympton of modern football that the first thing players are compared against is their price tag/wages etc.

Having said that his first season in English football was nowhere near as bad as some make out. I don't really know where the lazy stuff comes from, he never looks lazy to me. If anything he always looks like he's trying to do too much, instead of play the simple ball.

If we'd bought him for half the price there wouldn't be anywhere near as much hysteria.

Too true. Best example is Kagawa at Man U. Similar stats last year to double the price tag and he´s playing for the best team in the league so should be easier for him to have more goals/assists.

Does that mean that Kagawa is a terrible player?

Of course not.

Bazza's arguement will be that United have a bigger budget so can afford to spend big on players that take longer to settle, where as we need imediate impact if we spend £10m+.

Hate to flame the fire but Bazza is, as so often the case, absolutely spot on. £10m+ players better start performing early (i.e. no later than 6 weeks, 6 games at most) as that sort of money is absurd for a professional footballer who needs time to "bed in" wherever they go.

Time is money, and the longer these players don't perform for us the more of a loss and a liability they become.

You've used the wrong login Glasgow, this is the thread where 110 is a Ramirez fan

So the toothless formation/lineup that played yesterday would do a better job you think?

Let's face it, like I said in my OP with AL not playing well, we are absolutely clueless:

WBA: penalty

Sunderland: set piece

Norwich: no goals

West Ham: no goals

Liverpool: set piece (by AL)

Palace: AL assist, set piece

Swansea: AL, Jayrod fluke

United: set piece

Fulham: set piece, AL cross

Stoke: Jayrod fluke

Hull: Morgan, AL, penalty(won by AL), Davis

Arsenal: no goals

Chelsea: Jayrod fluke

There you go: take out AL, and take out set pieces, penalties and Jayrod flukes, and we've scored TWICE that's right a paltry TWO LEAGUE GOALS ALL SEASON!

Really need that spark and a breath of fresh air in the team - Ramirez is just the ticket imho.

PS nothing against Jayrod, just for some reason 3 of his 4 league goals this season have been flukes lol

impressive stats. (for those who want to be impressed) but tell me WHY are Jay Rod's goals classified as FLUKES ? ...

what ever happened to those old phrases......" good anticipation " and " goal poacher ".

If we take out the flukes.....what on Earth constitutes a " genuine goal " ..according to this survey ?

A 25 yard piledriver?....... or a header from inside the box ?....or a volley with his back to the goal?
