I believe I have been saying similar stuff all season and have been made public enemy no 1 on here, the press will then have knives out for our system and then the poachers will come.

I will say it again for all to see and record, the only way we will ever finish in the top 4 on a consistent basis (this is what Cortese wants) is too spend similar amounts to City and Chelsea on absolute premium players, that will not happen and neither will our Champions League escapade, it is that simple.

No-one here is saying we are going to be top 4 regulars.

People get wound up with you for your reveling in any defeat or poor performance, in ability to back any player or member of staff at the club and your utter stupidity.

HTH.

So, a summary of the season so far then....

The equivalent of four draws away to Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool.

7th in the league 2 points away from a champions league spot

Joint fewest goals conceded

Above Man Utd and Spurs in the table.

The team who restricted Chelsea to least passes at Stamford Bridge this season.

The team who had more possession and shots vs Arsenal at the Emirates.

The only visiting team to walk away from Anfield with any points so far this season

Happy days.

Thank you....Feel much better now.:D

A fair summuray, but more possession and shots is a bit irrelevant when you lose 2-0. We were well beat yesterday by a better team, but I was disappointed with our attacking threat, Osvaldo in particular. We defended well enough first half, but I always felt we would go on to lose the game. Some really tricky games to come this month, I think we will have a better idea of where we are at after the home game against Chelsea

it doesnt take much to realise that but i dont know that people are saying we will figure regular top 4

We were lucky that our early goal came from a careless backpass, and Jay certainly took advantage well.

But the nub is that we are not scoring enough goals despite our forward attacking game.

Why?

Well I'd say that it's because the 12.8 million £ striker that we bought to overcome that exact problem has scored just 1 goal in all the games he's played this season. English football is too fast and too intense for players of his sort. To highlight this: One of the experts commenting yesterday's game for Canal+ had been talking to Dejan in the week. Apparently he (Dejan) said that he liked PL football because real tackles were permitted to the extent that what passes for a typical ordinary tackle here would get you 3 years in prison in France or Italy. There's a real why very few players from Italy make the grade in the UK and chairmen need to take heed of it. Osvaldo might be worth 13 million to an Italian or Sanish club but he's not worth that here, expect him to be gone in January along with Gaston, neither will want damage their WC chances by not scoring in the PL. To be a really good PL striker you need to be extremely fast or extremely robust, Osvaldo is neither.

I agree, the question has to be asked why we have consistently looked there when we have had no reward.

Consistantly??? Guly and Papa Waigo certainly did ok for the league we were in at the time no reward...2 promotions and a cup say otherwise...can you name any others in the consistantly? So thats 2 good 2 indifferent.

Probably because the prices are tempting for the quality you'd expect from their performances there. I'd think that after this summer's disater buys all across the PL board most recruiters will be thinking twice about players from Italy in the future. Premier League clubs must have dumped about 200 million towards the Calcio last summer and I'd doubt that there's a single success story.

my memory is not that great but I'm fairly certain that 2of the best overseas imports were Henry and Bergkamp, each player did not hit the floor running, and their talents questioned.

No your memory is not good! This is another SWF myth/lie that gets told a few times and becomes true (on here)

Henry joined Arsenal in August 1999 and played as a winger for his first 8 games, in that time he made 6 assists. He was then moved to striker and went on to score 26 goals in his first season. That season Arsenal finished 2nd and reached the UEFA cup final losing to Galatasaray
