Absolute ******. They have just analysed the goals in detail on Sky Sports and not one mention of any fault with the keeper. I think some people just have to find a scapegoat after a defeat and a young keeper coming on at 1-1 is an easy target.

Come on KP if those guys in the studio were good enough they'd be giving their opinions on forums :p

Good defensively first half, ****e all round second half.

Boruc 7 - Some great saves first half, unlucky with the first goal. Big miss if he is unable to play Wednesday or Saturday

Clyne 6 - good first half, outmuscled a bit second half.

Lovren 6.5 - Very good first half, caught napping for the third

Fonte 6 - Struggled to deal with the power of Chelsea's forwards in the second half, was good first half.

Shaw 6 - Did OK, lost the ball a bit too easily

Wanyama 7 - Good game, only player who looked capable of dealing with Chelsea's physicality second half.

Morgan 5.5 - Didn't do a great deal, lacked his usual engery and willingness to get stuck in

JWP 5.5 - a couple of decent crosses first half, but his set pieces were uncharacteristically poor, one to forget.

Lallana 5.5 - A couple of good runs first half, but not his usual self. didn't look fully fit.

Rodrigiez 6 - Tried to drive the team forward on the counter, but often lacked support, lost Terry for their second.

Osvaldo 5 - Another poor game, either takes one touch too many or shoots when the pass is on. Doesn't seem like a team player.

Subs: Gazzaniga 4 - Only on 30 minutes and still managed to be at fault for a goal, down far too slowly for that third. If he has to play against City next Saturday...god help us.

Davis 4.5 - About as badly as he's played for us, offered nothing in either direction.

Lambert 5 - Didn't really get much of a chance to impact the game.

Think Boruc would have saved the second.

He or Kelvin certainly wouldn't have been as laughably badly positioned for the third.

I don't think Boruc would have got there but fair enough. Will have to see the third again (though worth noting Kelvin does get beat pretty regularly near post). Anyway thought we were beaten by the better team today sadly. Though we contained them well in the first half, we never really got going offensively (for the second week in a row) which is a bit disappointing. When they sacrificed Essien for Ba i thought that should have been the queue for Morgan and Vic to step up and dominate the midfield area but we didn't really match their intensity - helped partly by Ramires being immune from a card. Osvaldo frustrating again; doesn't seem to have forged any understanding with the other attacking players yet.

The big difference today was Chelsea matched our work rate & desire they closed us down quicker than we did them. They have some exceptionally gifted players that out thought us at times. It happens in this league, today was a bad day for us.

Not commented on Osvaldo so far, but he looked total lost today, dallies on the ball to much doesn't link play well. Fail to see what he offers.

End of the day when really good sides hit a purple patch in a game they can destroy anyone no matter who it is. That happened second half to us today.

Thought Wanyama got caught in possession far too often. Passing was poor for a Premier league player. Osvaldo looks out of his comfort zone and I think we need to look for a striker in January/Summer. Someone like Lukaku would be ideal. We were well beaten in the end.

Pretty pants really, they gifted us a goal, we worked them hard in the first half. We were totally toothless up front all game, they totally owned us second half. We ain't that great, mid to lower half, but we'll be in this league next year.

Got what we deserved today - a 3-1 loss

We're not as good as we hunk we are yet - and we simply don't have enough strength in depth. We are also a striker light - someone with a bit of pace and power - and someone who knows when to pass the ball.

I think Osvaldo's time as the main striker is up - and I'd sell him back to Italy or off to Spain in January - but Ricky is not the man we need either unfortunately

Ramirez should have been song off for foul after foul - but you expect big club bias from the Refs at their grounds

The worst thing was Chelsea out fought and out pressed us - too many of our players looked tired - too many had bad games - we gave the ball away far too much and wasted all our free kicks and corners.

A real shame Boruc had to go off after the goal. That really shook us up and Chelsea pounced. We couldn't handle it but fair play to them, once they got their tails up I don't think many teams could have kept everything ticking. I wouldn't say 'heads dropped' but we lost a lot of composure.

Blunt up front again.

Was said that the last 2 away games would show us where we really are. Conclusion, we have a decent team but nowhere near top 4 standard.

1st half we were decent but Chelsea shifted gears and we dropped one. 3 very poor goals and two injuries make for a

Very disappointing afternoon. We capitulated a little which was hard to watch.

Any players who looked excellent 1st half were made to look a little ordinary 2nd. Not a huge surprise given their resources and squad depth, but we didn't really put up much fight.

Absolutely crucial we bounce back vs villa. Hopefully we can get 3 points but to avoid defeat is vital. Criticism of osvaldo is harsh when midfield are creating nothing. Criticism of gazzaniga is beyond words.

We were also quite hesitant to push bodies forward when we got into their third. Shaw often found himself in a bit of space on the left without anyone to help him - if Lallana's been tracking back, Schneiderlin needs to push up and make sure there's an option there because Shaw's not a whip-it-in-the-box player. We did that well against Liverpool and Utd but not today.

Very frustrating day, but Chelsea were simply much better than us. No disgrace really because there is a very good reason they have the home record they do.

I too am getting very concerned about our seeming inability to create decent openings up front. I have very much defended Osvaldo so far but he was totally anonymous today. True he didn't get any decent service, but when that's not happening you need a striker that can create chances for himself, and the only player we have that looks capabale of that currently is J-Rod.

Wanyama didn't have one of his better games today, and when that happens we look a lot less assured in midfield and at the back. Needed a big game from him today to counter the threat of Ramires and Mata, but he was too casual at times, as he has an infuriating tendency to be.

Oh well. Draw a blue line under it and move on. It's disappointing to have dropped but with two consecutive away games against teams that will undoubtedly be in the CL places at the end of the season it was always going to be a mammoth task to keep our momentum going.

Let the arguments commence

Boruc 7 great game, confidence back - hope he's back soon

Clyne 6 pretty strong

Fonte 6 Once again solid

Lovren 5 Great to have him back but should have sorted Ba out

Shaw 7 A few good runs at their defence, would play him every game

Spiderman 6 Wasn't a yellow, did OK

Wanyama 4 Very poor. Get's caught way too often, bad passing

Ward-Prowse 7 Good play maker, Spiderman could learn a lot

Lallana 6 Had some good 1, 2s

Rodriguez 5 Good poachers goal but apart from that, seemed uninterested at times

Osvaldo 4 Everyone keeps telling me he just needs to adjust to our game. But when?

Subs

Lambert - Think I saw him twice on the ball - can't rate

Gazza - prefer Boruc obviously but wasn't at fault for the goal and had a good save

S Davies - did OK

Worst marks ever. Clyne wasn't great today, big Vic better than Morgan. Lallana was awful today and ward prowse poor and osvaldo terrible.

I keep expecting him to come good but Osvaldo is literally the most ineffective striker I've seen play for us in recent memory, a complete waste of space. Lamberts also finished, so lucky Rodriguez is improving rapidly. We've got a good enough first 11 to push top 4 but the lack of depth in our squad is going to make it impossible as things stand. Need a new striker and ideally a keeper and am in Jan. Sell Osvaldo and Ramirez, sign Rhodes and Ox.

We lost the game in the midfield. Schneiderlin had a poor game as did Lallana and especially Rodriguez, who apart from his goal gave the ball away every single time.

JWP was simply outmuscled and Wanyama (who's been inconsistent but had a superb game today) was the only one holding our midfield together.

Ironically, I wouldn't blame our defence too much despite conceding three. They came under so much pressure throughout the game and as I say, we just could hold on to the ball in midfield let alone get it to stick upfront.

A lot of people are losing patience with Osvaldo and understandably, yet Chelsea away when your midfield is more-or-less all having a poor game is not an easy fixture for a striker; of course had he had a decent run out at home to the likes of Hull and Fulham he might well have a few more goals to his name and be more of a threat.

Finally, Rodriguez, despite being our top scorer, simply cannot play on the wing; he gave the ball away every single time, is never keen on cutting inside and running at players, and doesn't have the ability to skin his full-back and cross with his left foot.

...Having said all of that, I think he'd make a very decent centre-forward and possibly, would merit the dropping of not just Osvaldo but Lambert as well.

We need a proper attacking midfielder in the tough-but-clever-and-skillful 'Zidane' kind of mould, and a proper winger with real pace.

We seem to have had a few months worth of bad luck in a fortnight, thankfully in consecutive games we weren't expected to get anything from! What is apparent is that we have not got the squad depth to allow us to stay competitive if we lose key players, not that much of a surprise as this is only our second season back in the top flight, but we need better quality options if top five is a realistic target for the Board...

The two things that stand out for me is firstly in the match all three goals didn't come from Chelsea pulling us apart although they created a few in play chances which Boruc saved well. It was poor defending of dead ball situations. Twice Lovren lost his mark.

Secondly for those that wouldn't know a goalkeeper from a bus conductor, Gazzaniga had no chance with either goal and did nothing wrong. I don't think any goalkeeper would have saved Terry's goal and Ba's goal was far too quick for him.

How Oswaldo stayed on the entire 96 minutes I'll never know. Ricky should have been on before half time as Oswaldo was playing worse than any striker I've seen playing for the club. He was diarrhea. sheer diarrhea.

Pochettino got his substitutions wrong seeing the players he had on the bench. I thought Gazzaniga did remarkably well and was confident and composed. He wasn't at fault for the goals rather defensive errors that could have been avoided.

Losing today really hurt when one realises how close we were to success.

Reality strikes home but we won't go forward relying on players like Oswaldo and Gaston. What an absolute waste of money and someone ought to step forward and admit how wrong they were to sign such crap.

We are still a good side and should not be too disheartened at losing away to Arsenal and Chelsea. Think too many on here are beating the side up and not looking at the bigger picture. We are very much a work in progress but have made huge strides in a short space of time and rightly received some nice plaudits. On the bright side we have taken a combined haul of four points from away matches at Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea - I think most of us would have accepted a point per game average over those fixtures before the season started.

The 2goals looked poor , the first I thought he would get to it, the second looked as he was too slow getting down. He does not inspire me with any confidence.

I agree - Wanyama and Schneiderlin provide a very solid platform, but unless we are comfortably on top they don't advance much beyond half-way.

loss was inevitable the moment boruc went off, you could see in the body language of the players, they looked deflated. it's not that gazza is sh!t, he just doesn't give the defence the confidence that boruc does, and that leads to the defenders making uncharacteristic errors and subsequently concede goals.

fitness is starting to prove an important factor as well. like many have predicted, it was questionable if we could keep up the pressing game for 90 mins every game for the rest of the season after a dream start in the 1st quarter of the season. no matter how much poch's pre-season fitness regime can improve the players' fitness, they are not going to turn into superhumans and maintain the pressing game all 38 games. you could see towards the end of the game, fatigue was starting to set in and players were misplacing passes. this is possibly a weakness in the otherwise effective pressing game that we have, and probably where strength in depth comes in which we do not have especially in defence and attack.

You just proved the point Derry was trying to make. Bus conductors wear hats and carry ticket machines btw.
I wouldn't know that but I'm sure you look good in the uniform. Derry is on thin ice telling people about keepers, he thought that ginger keeper at Bolton was a top one lol

That can work when you're away at the top teams, but it does mean the front three/four have to understand how to move and find each other quickly. Lallana, Rodriguez and Osvaldo were missing each other's runs (or making them too late) all afternoon

A torrid brace of away defeats to title contenders have been a salutary lesson in how far we have to go to break into the top 4.

Kind of an ironic statement given that a team currently in the top 4 also lost 3-1 today... Against Hull.

Why do these 2 games define our ability and not the games at Old Trafford and Anfield? Or even just the League table?
