Well it was going fantastic for 54 minutes. Then a bit of luck, a centimetre either side of the post and they wouldn't have scored & they equalise. We lose Boruc which is a double whammy, why that waste of space that is Gazzaniga is on the bench is beyond me. Second goal is poor and i'd hope Boruc would have saved it, 3rd embarassing by gazzaniga. Hopefully Boruc can play wednesday, otherwise i'd prefer Davis to the clueless wonder.

Difference between class and willingness to run showed in the end.

Really want Osvaldo to do well but he is spending too much time on the ball and slowing our attacks down, whereas Ricky is much quicker to flick it through to the runner from midfield/fullback.

Yeah, our players don't run at all

Await the kneejerk OTT reactions.

First half, we got an early goal from an error. Suited us in terms of our tactics and shocked Chelsea, they actually stuttered for the rest of the 1st half and you felt that Essien was just not quite at the level. We still didn't make enough of it though, apart from the goal we should have put more attacking moves together.

2nd half is one to forget though, utter fodder. Although Chelsea did step it up, and putting Ba up top gave them an outlet. But we started making mistakes, the defensive was getting moved all over the place and we couldn't play a pass what so ever. Quite a depressing 2nd half really, certainty the worst for a long, long time. Especially with the news that Brouc looks like being out for a while, and I wouldn't expect Morgan to be available for midweek. Given that we're 1 card away from losing Wanyama, we're treading a very thin line in that midfield area.

Osvaldo infuriated me today, he was complete and utter turd. Didn't hold the ball up, his runs were straight and he barley made their centre backs think. All he seemed to do was give away fouls, argue with players and swear at the referee. He better buck his idea's up to be honest.

At least we have a game up again quite quickly, but we will be very much weakened. Quite a rubbish afternoon all told.

Yeah expected to lose but more worried about injuries to Boruc and Morgan. If Boruc is out for a while really think it could de-rail our season. We need better back up than Davis and Gazza. Not Prem quality at all.

Think we will start to see how badly we are lacking in decent back up.

Best team won in the end after a very good first half from Saints. Chelsea are just too strong for us and Mourinho going two up top was the difference. It enabled Mata to drop in behind the strikers and that was that.

I'm a little concerned that we are looking very toothless up front. It seems we are a good striker away from a decent team. Someone with some pace and guile and a bit of grit and determination. Sadly, Osvaldo isn't that striker. Ricky is not the answer either. Hmm.

Dalek is spot on.....defeat not disastrous, disappointing that we didn't show more after going behind but Chelsea are unbeaten at home in yonks for good reason....gotta hope injuries not serious...although having said that I am more confident that the squad can absorb them than in previous years, and gazza looked pretty assured once he came on (although I'm sure the usual numpties will try and make out he was at fault for both goals).

Getting a bit worried about osvaldo who really needs to start making an impact - but can't quite delight in him not doing well like other posters.

Osvaldo certainly frustrating at the moment. I think Poch needs to work with him, he's spending too much time fannying around when an earlier pass would have been the better option.

I think he can come good but at the moment Lambert is the better option to start.

We're still so good, it's great to see. Congrats Chelsea, you are goooood.

I keep expecting him to come good but Osvaldo is literally the most ineffective striker I've seen play for us in recent memory, a complete waste of space. Lamberts also finished, so lucky Rodriguez is improving rapidly. We've got a good enough first 11 to push top 4 but the lack of depth in our squad is going to make it impossible as things stand. Need a new striker and ideally a keeper and am in Jan. Sell Osvaldo and Ramirez, sign Rhodes and Ox.

No disgrace. Defended really well in the 1st half. Their squad and quality shone through.

Still. Liverpool, arsenal, United and Chelsea away all done.

Osvaldo was Gash. Lovren, Clyne and big Vic were good

Hope Boruc is ok

All this, and Shaw was strong.

Too comfortable at 1-0 when it was obvious Mourinho would tinker with the process of attack to find ways through, and he did.

We had run out of ideas after the hour mark.

Still prefer it to losing at Rochdale or Carlisle though.

A steep learning curve to get amongst the top six.

Excellent first half, terrible second. Well beaten today. Osvaldo needs to be showing more than this, he did absolutely nothing and doesn't seem to have any understanding with any of our other front players. Wasn't the only poor performance, I thought Schneiderlin was struggling to compete with Ramires and Clyne was beaten over and over by Hazard. Still Chelsea are a quality team and our season will be defined by games like Villa on Wednesday, not Arsenal and Chelsea away.

I would prefer Davis to Gazza too, although neither are very good. I do hope we will be active in the transfer window, we need to be.

We didn't play great today sadly, only in glimpses anyway. We do look blunt upfront, not really sure why we brought Osvaldo, we don't seem to know how to use him effectively which is a worry since poch should know his game inside out, but he doesn't seem a team player and the detracts from team. All in all these games are showing us where we are... We can give the big boys a good game but struggle against them up front. Only the second team to clearly outplay us under poch today, and it makes iit 5-0 to JM vs MP. Wanyama went back to his usual poor dopey play, jwp was below his usual standards. Lovren was very good, and jayrod did some good work. Shaw pretty good also. The rest were fairly average.

I thought we looked mid-table at best today. We didn't deserve to be 1 up at HT.

No real threat upfront today, Osvaldo is not up to much…. yet. Standard mistakes from Wanyama in giving the ball away and another strange game from Boruc who's kicking is still only adequate frankly.

What's most worrying is that's the first time I've seen our shoulders hunch - we looked defeated at 1-1 FFS.

Going to be interesting to see if we can bounce back quickly now that others have watched how to beat us by 2 goals on two separate occasions and it looks like we've got a plethora of injuries. Still, looking forward to some home speed, belief and pace against Villa!!

Still proud of them. :)

What?? How can you blame Gazza for those two goals? You must be joking ffs!

Can't blame Gazza really... he's the third choice keeper FFS. KD not featuring due to injury. Merrington confirmed that Boruc dislocated his finger but it had "popped" back in and he wanted to continue. I would imagine some swelling but he will play midweek.

What did Gazza do wrong? No way Boruc would have saved the second either and the third was Lovren's fault for giving up on Ba.

I'm more worried about Gazza playing a long run of games. If last season is anything to go by we are in for poor goals being conceded. Hope I'm wrong but this coupled with our inability up front we could be in for a long winter. Good job we already have a lot of points on the board.

Let the arguments commence

Boruc 7 great game, confidence back - hope he's back soon

Clyne 6 pretty strong

Fonte 6 Once again solid

Lovren 5 Great to have him back but should have sorted Ba out

Shaw 7 A few good runs at their defence, would play him every game

Spiderman 6 Wasn't a yellow, did OK

Wanyama 4 Very poor. Get's caught way too often, bad passing

Ward-Prowse 7 Good play maker, Spiderman could learn a lot

Lallana 6 Had some good 1, 2s

Rodriguez 5 Good poachers goal but apart from that, seemed uninterested at times

Osvaldo 4 Everyone keeps telling me he just needs to adjust to our game. But when?

Subs

Lambert - Think I saw him twice on the ball - can't rate

Gazza - prefer Boruc obviously but wasn't at fault for the goal and had a good save

S Davies - did OK

I'm afraid that our enforced substitutions unsettled and weakened us whereas theirs gave them a new impetus (that's what you get with a big expensive squad!)

No disaster having plummeted to seventh ( just above Man U !)

We are still doing well, it's only the expectations that have changed !!

Oh didn't hear DM say that. When I was listening, around 80th minute, they said it was a broken finger!

Neat, feel free to check out some neutral forums. The one I post on are all saying how he looked like a conference keeper.

Absolute ******. They have just analysed the goals in detail on Sky Sports and not one mention of any fault with the keeper. I think some people just have to find a scapegoat after a defeat and a young keeper coming on at 1-1 is an easy target.

Dissappointing result.

Going to start tumbling down the league now, can't see us getting much against Villa or Man City either.

Those who thought this season wasn't going to be another battle against relegation have just got a reality check I think.

Not really. No way are we going to be relegated.

Just like clockwork. No idea why you do it to yourself, it's like a constant need to make yourself look stupid on the internet. Weird.

There's no need to be upset bro, he's a big boy. I'm not saying we wouldn't have lost either way, just they he was complete cr@p when he came on.

Your a bit of a black hole, disappointing result granted but i think being involved in a relagation battle is a bit extreme IMO

Yes exactly. Whether he was to "blame " or not ; I really can't see him as a viable long-term alternative for Boruc - can you ?
