IM looking to buy a reasonably priced lap top for some one as a present

Anybody like to recommend a particular make or model. There seems to be a fair few out there. Im looking for something with a minimum 160GB HD 3g of ram etc Vista home premium

Places like pc world have a few tosh satellites, but they do not look that robust.

So your advice warmly welcomed

Aldi are doing a couple of laptops at excellent prices. If you're worried about their quality, they hold 3 year guarantees, and are certainly NOT refurbished items that may have already gone wrong once or twice.

Yep the Aldi Medion laptops are very well built and get rave reviews from the PC mags.

Their current ofering is this one - http://www.medion.de/ms/aldi/s2210/uk/flash.html although if you are buying for a male they might not appreciate the crystal butterfly on it!

Thanks to those who have responded.

Its for a female, I doubt she will use it for gaming apart from patience type card games.

Cost price between 300 -400 pounds

Im not keen on the fujistu semiems range. I have heard good and bad comments on dell and HP

HP are awesome. Lovely laptops, nice and robust.

Also, i have configured and played with about 250 dell laptops in the past year and not had any major problems with any of them either.

You hear good and bad things about everything! Some people just like to moan

Fixed up some-ones Medion laptop yesterday, looks cheap and nasty, plasticy and no frills, but ran like a dream, 4gb RAM, 200gb HDD and the bloke got change out of 300 notes. If your not a ponce and dont care how it looks, then could be a good shout.

Shame i am and i do

That's a great help for him then.... post some specs and be all smug about your purchase, even though it's not going to help him one bit.
