swannymere Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 Looks bad, 3 crew on board probably dead plus i would imagine people in the pub. RIP Police Helicopter Crash
Glasgow_Saint Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 Was in the area earlier tonight. Madness. Thankfully helicopter did not break through ceiling so reduced the amount of fatalities for sure. Rip
suewhistle Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 I've a musician friend up there, don't think they play with The Esperanza Band though...
Crazy Diamond Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 Was in the area earlier tonight. Madness. Thankfully helicopter did not break through ceiling so reduced the amount of fatalities for sure. Rip Slightly different to the thread, but is the Marriott in a red light district? Was told by a cabbie recently that it is - was unaware of that when I booked my stay, I assure you... Need to brush up on my Glasgow geography, will be there for about a month next year.
tony13579 Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 The police helicopter couldn't have run out of fuel???? No fire, witness reports of dust, evacuating people, non of fuel fumes , the fire service are not pumping foam on the scene in any of the pictures I've seen
Hatch Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 locals probably throwing stick and stones at the big iron bird probably brought it down.
Saint in Paradise Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 locals probably throwing stick and stones at the big iron bird probably brought it down. What a pathetic unfeeling thing to say,:mcinnes: you should be ashamed but I suspect that you won't otherwise you wouldn't have posted such a post in the first place.
PhilippineSaint Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 It was allegedly another Eurocopter so that will mean they will be grounded world wide again so anybody working offshore will be delayed getting home or going to work with the possibility of having to use launches. Its about time that Eurocopter got their act together and worked out what the problem is with these machines and fixed them. Its only been about a month since they restarted flying again in Angola since the last time they were grounded.
Barry Sanchez Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 locals probably throwing stick and stones at the big iron bird probably brought it down. A Sotonian mocking Glasgow for being backward is not only ironic its totally incorrect, and more importantly completely insensitive.

Whatever happened to this police helicopter it must have happened very rapidly indeed because photos of the site show there is a large (largely empty) car park only yards away from this pub, a obvious landing site I strongly suspect the pilot would have tried to make if he could have. For that matter a proper heliport is only a mile or so away I believe.

Did they rent your room by the hour or by the day?
Viking Warrior Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 Crazy diamond . I must have been blind if that area was a red light district . I have stayed in the area a few times . It is easy access for the centre of Glasgow which is only a few minutes walk away .
Crazy Diamond Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 Did they rent your room by the hour or by the day? lulz Crazy diamond . I must have been blind if that area was a red light district . I have stayed in the area a few times . It is easy access for the centre of Glasgow which is only a few minutes walk away . Yeah I didn't think it was. Cabbie told me it was, must have been a strange joke.
buctootim Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 Thankfully helicopter did not break through ceiling so reduced the amount of fatalities for sure. Rip Right on the money as always Glasgow.
OldNick Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 I watched Sky early this morning and they were interviewing somebody whose father was in the pub. He was asked how he felt that a Police helicopter had crashed into the pub and he laughed. It seemed to me he found it amusing that Policemen may have been hurt
Turkish Posted 30 November, 2013 Posted 30 November, 2013 I was in Glasgow last night, had no idea and no sign at all what was going on only a couple of hundred yards away. Scary to think that could easily have been the place I was in. Very sad to hear.
Dr Who? Posted 2 December, 2013 Posted 2 December, 2013 Right on the money as always Glasgow. Am I missing something, that has gone through the roof, they are big mothers!
