Bratwurst Posted 28 November, 2013 Share Posted 28 November, 2013 Always the same question everytime I come over...which is the best Pub before a game?Where is the best atmosphere...where can i have a few good beers and a little conversation in typical german about "zä Saints"? I prefer King Alfred or Waterfront Pub last times...

The9 Posted 28 November, 2013 Share Posted 28 November, 2013 The Alex is the best pub in southampton, before a saints game, after a saints game and at any other time. Unfortunately it is also pretty expensive.
Griffo Posted 28 November, 2013 Share Posted 28 November, 2013 The Alex is the best pub in southampton, before a saints game, after a saints game and at any other time. It's where I drink until about 2 by which point it can take hours to get served so we move on elsewhere.

Lord Duckhunter Posted 28 November, 2013 Share Posted 28 November, 2013 Used to like the red lion, but god knows what they've done to it. Tried the frog and parrot, but gets too busy. Alex is ok, but gets a bit frustrating sometimes, landlord keeps running out and sometimes you end up with a plastic glass. Why anyone would drink in the Alfred is beyond me and another one I can't stand is the encore.
Sour Mash Posted 28 November, 2013 Share Posted 28 November, 2013 The Alex is the best pub in southampton, before a saints game, after a saints game and at any other time. The Alex definitely isn't the best pub in Southampton, No-where near. Not bad for the occasional pint or two. Re. the OP, all depends what you like in a match day pub really.
