Saint-Armstrong Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/10479667/Football-match-fixing-six-arrested-by-police-investigating-betting-syndicate-as-rigging-hits-British-game.html Some interesting undercover reporting. Wonder when it will come to light who the six footballers are, and just how high profile they are?
Matthew Le God Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 The identities of the teams involved cannot be disclosed for legal reasons, as the police operation is understood to remain active. However, they are not Premier League sides. Phew!
trousers Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 I'm just trying to think of a lower league side who have been having some unexpected results this season. Nah, can't think of any....
SNSUN Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 We are Southampton, we'll fix what we want. :-D

stevegrant Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 I'm sure I don't have to remind people to tread very carefully here
ART Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 "Conceding Goals" and "buying referees" opens the door very wide to interpretation.
Gemmel Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 "Conceding Goals" and "buying referees" opens the door very wide to interpretation. errr do you mean like "match fixing"

Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 Not Artur then? Damn. At least that would have been some justification for his error on Saturday.
The9 Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 They've already nailed 4 AFC Hornchurch players and it mentions some non-League games up to Conference levels being removed from the markets, plus sums far more than "the usual £70k", so it's not that likely to be anyone in the top few divisions.
Saint Garrett Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 I'm assuming Glasgow had a bet on all these games 12 months ago, as he watches all these teams a lot...
Saint_clark Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 Phew! If any of them WERE Premier League sides, I would have been convinced it was us due to Boruc on saturday.
Jimmy_D Posted 28 November, 2013 Posted 28 November, 2013 Sky seem to think that one of the arrested is a former Prem player that now works as an agent. http://news.sky.com/story/1174673/football-match-fixing-claims-six-arrested

Bucks Saint Posted 28 November, 2013 Posted 28 November, 2013 Definitely nothing whatsoever to do with Harry, Milan, PFC or anyone or thing connected to them, in any way. Just to clear that up in the unlikely event anyone was unsure.
Saint86 Posted 28 November, 2013 Posted 28 November, 2013 I was so hoping this was portsmouth, seems they have dodged the bullet this season. Still they will be conference next year .... ';.;'
ART Posted 28 November, 2013 Posted 28 November, 2013 Earning money through match fixing offers a huge temptation to clubs in financial difficulties. It seems the easiest means to raise money in difficult times. Back in the days of Lowe and Cowen I used to post ironies about the two of them raising funds for the club by betting on Saints results. The outcome of our results at the time beggared belief sometimes, and, Claus's confession years later, still has me wondering how far his little earner went amongst team mates.
