shurlock Posted 27 November, 2013 Share Posted 27 November, 2013 Yes you did pal. was talking about numbers after the 80s - they didn't exceed 30,000 till the late 1990s.

It just when we were talking about Chelsea being a historically well supported team i didn't realise history stopped when you got to 1980.
Sour Mash Posted 27 November, 2013 Share Posted 27 November, 2013 Spazza's suggestion that they are a working class club and are consequently very different from Arsenal, the subject of this thread. Look at Chelsea's support down at ours in the FA Cup game last season; I can't see Arsenal still being able to turn out that sort of support these days, even as a one off. Don't get me wrong - they have a bit of an edge that pound for pound is still up there but it's vastly outnumbered - such that they're closer to Arsenal than Spurs or West Ham in my eyes. FWIW thought the Emirates made a decent amount of noise -by their standards- during parts of the game, especially at the start of the second half when we were coming back into things. Doubt it'll ill be louder than Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Edited 27 November, 2013 by shurlock
Legod Third Coming Posted 28 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 28 November, 2013 If you had ever tried to get home after a match at Highbury or The Emirates you'd have a little more understanding and sympathy for your North London brethren. It's not like a provincial city where you can just jump into your car and drive away. Agreed. So stay at the end, have another pint and let the crowds drift away... At the Cup Final in 2003 MORE of us watched them lift the trophy than Arsenal fans. Why? Can't they stomach more than 85 minutes in the one seat... Couldn't believe how desperate they were to get back in their cars and drive home!!
DuncanRG Posted 28 November, 2013 Share Posted 28 November, 2013 They're similar to other big clubs - great away, poor at home.
