New week, let's not talk about Saturdays incident again...

Lovren in for Jos if fit, otherwise unchanged.

Really think we could get something Sunday. I would love us to be the team to break Jose's record at Stamford bridge!

Think we might see a couple of changes, perhaps Osvaldo to start with Lambert on the bench and personally I wasn't over convinced by JWP's contribution on Saturday, a bit stereotyped, perhaps he was worn down by his international duties, depends how much we're counting on his dead ball delivery really. I'd start Gaston but then I don't play FIFA 14 or CM.

Ward prowse was excellent first half but had to play right back second half so couldn't really influence game. If we have lovren and shaw and first eleven fit we have outside chance if a draw IMO.

Any news on the injuries we have?

Hope Lovren is back, we'll definitely need him, and a fully fit Luke Shaw.

by the time we kick off we could have already slipped down the table , not much seperating 2nd and 9th.

Dodgy Trousers logic alert....

I'd be tempted to change things around a bit for this game (up front). Most people won't expect us to win this one anyway and, to me, its an ideal opportunity to try out the Gaston - Osvaldo combo for a large chunk of the game (for the first time this season?). Arguably, Chelsea is a team that the likes of Gaston and Osvaldo will be more 'at home' playing against...

So, despite putting my head above the SWF thought police parapet, here's what I'd go for...

Boruc

Clyne - Fonte - Lovren - Shaw

Wanyama - Schneiderlin

JWP - Ramirez - Lallana

Osvaldo

Subs: K Davis, Chambers, Yoshida, Cork (if fit) / Reed (if not), S Davis, Lambert, Rodriguez

Fire away...

No - I think that is a really good call. So long as we have J Rod and Lambo to come on and change things around if it does not work. Its a good shout - probably wont happen though :(

Nice when our back 7 picks itself.

because they are good quality and not just the ones we have to use! at last

apart from AL, i don't really care who the other three are, i think we we will give them a really good run for their money. as i have said before, on other threads, this game does not worry ne, it is the next 3 in 6 days that will show us where we are. after then do we need to start looking at us as a realistically placed top 7-8 team.

Their squad is ridiculous. Doubt it matters

there's a lot of rubbish in their squad, they aren't particulary overloaded at CB as Luiz is out for a fair while. Just leaves Cahill and Terry with Ivanovic as a stand in on many occasions, means they have to play Bertrand at RB. Azpilicueta is easily exploitable at LB as well. They have a shedload of midfielders but some of the other positions aren't too well covered.

Pochettino said he was looking forwards to crossing swords again with Mourinho at the beginning of the season, so I would imagine he will have the boys well up for ths game.

Brother-in-law is a Chelsea season ticket holder and admitted hat Chelsea are a bit indifferent at the moment, and whilst watching the game on Saturday afternoon commented that Chelsea will have to work harder than they have of late to get any result from us.

Really looking forward to this one now, more so than the Arsenal game for some reason and think we've got a good chance as long as shaw + lovren are back in.

I think it helps that the hype has died down a bit and expectations going into the match will be more realistic.

last week we had talk of saints going top, and Terry Venables wrote in The Sun that we were the new Barcelona .

this week we could drop to 8th before we play taking us off the radar a bit.

seen some good saints performances at Stamford Bridge over the years , I'm going to predict a re-run of the 1992 ZDS cup area final 2nd leg 3-1 win to saints

He wasn't the first mate. One step ahead as usual. I haven't read the thread for a while but no doubt i was called a WUM and a troll.

The "back 7" is an automatic pick and Lallana will play, rightly, if fit.

So, it's a case of two from JWP, Davis, Rodriguez, Ramirez and the kids and one from Lambert, Osvaldo and Rodriguez.

Personally, I would go with JWP and Davis from the off, I think. The danger from Chelsea comes if Hazard/Oscar/Mata are facing our goal with space 20-40 yards out. Let's push them right back from the off. Looked like Eto was hitting some form but will be out. Obviously Torres is a threat on the break but our backline's organisation is usually so good that we shouldn't be too worried about pushing right up.

Upfront, Lambert is benched. He hasn't, in truth, been playing all that well in a lot of our games and away from home he really does struggle to find space in dangerous positions. I would probably start with Osvaldo as we need to try to play him into form but I would also be interested to see Rodriguez play up top in an away match soon. Either way, I think Poch needs to resist the temptation to accommodate Lambert and Osvaldo.

You know that 2 of them will start right? Can't believe so many are advocating dropping JayRod. Oh to be an armchair fan.

They won't lose two on the bounce surely?!

I wouldn't have thought they would lose to Basel twice either but it happened.

I think we probably will suffer a narrow defeat here after a decent enough performance. Would play the same side as Arsenal but with Ossie in for Lambert.
