mightysaints Posted 24 November, 2013 Posted 24 November, 2013 Who's going where this season. Just booked 12 of us for Tignes. Anyone been there
norwaysaint Posted 24 November, 2013 Posted 24 November, 2013 Just bought a season ticket for my nearest slope, just under an hour from Bergen. Not the biggest or most exciting place, but it's nice to be able to a few times a week.
Fork Handles Posted 24 November, 2013 Posted 24 November, 2013 Awesome skiing for all levels, La Folie Douce on the slopes towards Val D'Isere an absolute must for lunch/apres ski !
Kingsland Red Posted 25 November, 2013 Posted 25 November, 2013 Thollon les Memises,on the south side of Lac Leman. A 40 minute car ride to Villars, Les Diablerets, Gstaad Glacier 3000 and Portes du Soleil and an hour from Verbier. Annual family trip.
minime Posted 25 November, 2013 Posted 25 November, 2013 used to train there every summer and most winters had the squad base there) great place to ski and explore
Window Cleaner Posted 25 November, 2013 Posted 25 November, 2013 Tignes is good, perennial snow on the upper slopes, pricey though. I shall be at my usual (and local) stations from time to time, Chalmazel and Super Besse, cheap and cheerful and about my standard cos I'm a bit wobbly on the tricky stuff.
suewhistle Posted 25 November, 2013 Posted 25 November, 2013 I'll be going back to visit friends in the Valle d'Aosta so will end up skiing at Pila, Courmayeur, La Thuile, Cervinia and maybe a few other places. I need to start letting people know when it might be possible to doss on their sofa or rent a flat from friends. I'm also owed about 7 day's ski pass for some translation work I did, so it'll all help keep the cost down.
Lighthouse Posted 25 November, 2013 Posted 25 November, 2013 Awesome skiing for all levels, La Folie Douce on the slopes towards Val D'Isere an absolute must for lunch/apres ski ! What he said. If you like a good atmosphere, turn up at La Folie Douce at about 3.30 pm any day of the week. Drink, party and then attempt to ski back slightly ****ed.
BadgerBadger Posted 26 November, 2013 Posted 26 November, 2013 Off to Canada in Feb, not sure which resorts yet but probably a bit of a road trip taking in Whitewater, Fernie, Kicking Horse, Lake Louise and Sunshine. Never done Whitewater before, apparently powder heaven with 12 mtrs of the stuff a year, they've already had nearly 2 mtrs the lucky b'stards
CB Saint Posted 26 November, 2013 Posted 26 November, 2013 Vallandry for next year. Building up knee from some keyhole surgery. Anyone recommend a good knee brace?
bridge too far Posted 26 November, 2013 Posted 26 November, 2013 Vallandry for next year. Building up knee from some keyhole surgery. Anyone recommend a good knee brace? You can have mine when I've finished with it! Only problem is that it is a completely rigid one from thigh to ankle so probably not really suitable Seriously it's a good brace and it's made by Jura
colehillsaint Posted 26 November, 2013 Posted 26 November, 2013 Back to La Rosiere with the family for me. Really enjoyed it last year with a big group of family and friends, and appreciated some advice received on here. Hopefully some work put in to be a bit fitter for the holiday will pay off.
stkev7 Posted 27 November, 2013 Posted 27 November, 2013 Out in Austria at the moment, the main lifts in the Ski Welt where I am, open on the 7th December. Going by the current conditions it should be an exceptional season.
norwaysaint Posted 27 January, 2014 Posted 27 January, 2014 It's been an exceptionally rubbish year for skiing so far with very little snow in the mountains, great year to buy a season ticket for the first time. Finally got out for the first time yesterday, about a month after the season was expected to start. Absolutely brilliant to be skiing again and will be trying to get out every weekend now. Annoyingly it looks as if my six year old will soon join my eight year old in being far better than me though.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 27 January, 2014 Posted 27 January, 2014 Off to Chamonix in a couple of weeks, looks like there are some problems with potential avalanches though
CB Saint Posted 27 January, 2014 Posted 27 January, 2014 In vallandry right now. Had six inches of snow last night, sunny day and really quiet . Happy days
svetigpung Posted 27 January, 2014 Posted 27 January, 2014 Went skiing in the swedish hills last week as a warm up. Of next week to italy and Passo del Tonale. Nice
ben05 Posted 27 January, 2014 Posted 27 January, 2014 Tinges for me and my mates. Not this season tho, in December '14. Looking at going with http://www.wastelandski.com/ Got a quote all in (apart from food and flights) for a week for £240 which I thought wasn't too bad
Horley CTFC Saint Posted 27 January, 2014 Posted 27 January, 2014 Off to Chamonix in a couple of weeks, looks like there are some problems with potential avalanches though Not on the pistes I hope! There at half term myself - looking forward to my wallet getting cleaned out with the high prices but don't fancy avalances!
mightysaints Posted 27 January, 2014 Author Posted 27 January, 2014 Tignes in Two weeks to go, cant wait. La Folie Douce looks good fun. Left Crutiate knackered again but got a very expensive brace curtosy of the NHS
Lighthouse Posted 28 January, 2014 Posted 28 January, 2014 I was planning to go to Val D'Isere/Tignes the same week but now I've got a job interview and can't go. Shame but I've already done 2 weeks in Meribel/Val Thorens/La Plagne this season so can't complain.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 28 January, 2014 Posted 28 January, 2014 Not on the pistes I hope! There at half term myself - looking forward to my wallet getting cleaned out with the high prices but don't fancy avalances! Off-piste I believe, but yeah, not what you'd expect.
