They say in Formula 1 80% is down to the performance of the car and 20% down to the skill of the driver.

 

Does the same apply to the system introduced by MP and the saints players?

Yes, it's much closer then 80/20.

 

Considering how bad coaching in the modern game effects things and how individual skill reflects...... Tricky to judge in a strict ratio as there is more then just the two variables.

 

Management - Tactics, Motivational Ability, Coaching Ability

Players - Talent, Chemistry, Work Rate

 

Splitting it down into those..... 40% Management, 60% Players.

Should be a third element - teamwork. Individuals playing together, understanding how the others play and their capabilities, that 'sixth sense' to know where your team-mate will be making his run. Without that familiarity - which takes time - coaching can take you only so far.

I don't think if Poch was coaching Pompey with the current players they would be 3rd in the Prem....

 

60/40 in favour of the players sounds fair. Perhaps 61/39
