"The British are actively hostile towards young people"

I was providing examples of why people might be hostile to youngsters, typcically you wade in offering nothing to the thread and having a go at me. You couldn't make it up. :mcinnes:

What I offered to the thread was this - an opportunity for you to be just a tad self-critical. I wasn't having a go at you. I didn't insult you, like you did the three posters you specifically mentioned. I was just stating the FACT (as you put it in another post) of what you did - throwing a grenade into the discussion that knocks the discussion off-topic.

I wasn't insulting the other 3 posters, stating FACTS about them and things they've shared with the board themselves.

How am i a hypocrite? I fully admit i enjoy taking the p*ss out of the mugs on here. The funny thing is a few people have waded onto the thread having a go at me for doing it and then doing the same thing themselves on the same post, that's hypocritical pal.

I haven't said anything that is untrue either, Andy666 is an up his own arse know it all, Mikey did drop out of Uni, Bowers did work at McDonalds and fell on his arse doing a short sprint and is now struggling in a call centre where he has went to his union because they moved his lunch break! SO rather than taking pops at people im simply stating FACTS and suggesting they might be the reason why young people encourage hostility.

Turkish, our very own Henry Kissinger...........................

Were you educated by Jesuits? You've got the hair-splitting down to perfection. Calling someone "lazy" is not a FACT, it's an insulting opinion. Calling someone a "fat arse" is not a FACT, it's an insulting opinion. Calling someone a "know it all ... barely being out of nappies" is not a FACT, it's an insulting opinion. Opinions are not FACTS.

To be fair, if I get the opportunity to be lazy I take it, Turkish isn't a million miles off.

You seem to be imply that I have denied it.

There was no implication you denied it. I simply pointed it out. If you think that these are desirable qualities in a person, then go for it. (As you are) Just bear in mind though, that most people will regard your traits as someone who has delusions of grandeur, a bit of a sociopath, and is a bit of a wally. You will no doubt carry on as you are, and that is fine. Enjoy.

Is it true Turkish is a paper salesman or is that just a in-joke?

Please let it be true

It was one of the many 'true and serious'' things Ive said on here that the ones that take this forum oh so seriously took that way.

So what is wrong with being a paper salesman then ? Sounds like an honest job to me

and to be a good salesman is an skill that lots cannot achieve.

Sales is often a far from honest job. Definitely one that involves compromising and being pleasant to those you deal with.

My Daughter, and I left the Labour Party 3 months ago, I did put all of this in previous posts but alas my friend you read only what you want to.

Maybe Dune will post a picture of himself for you? His posts are **** compared to mine, I read one of them going on about a breakfast ha ha and if you think thats me and I write like that I am glad you sit behind a computer and are not smashing fronts doors in at first light.

euphemism?

What a flop this thread has been.

Instead of discussing what I thought was a good article, Turkish is telling us how good he is and how rubbish everyone else is, for a change.

And Pap and Barry are discussing UKIP & the EU. Valid discussion of course, but not exactly what I envisaged here.

To be fair the original article was pointless and aimless wittering drivel.

Spot on. Every "generation" thinks they are getting a worse deal that before and these sorts of articles provide nothing more than, at best, a dampening of the spirits and at worst an addition to the long list of 3rd party justification for an individuals personal failings.

I see the article was written by Suzanne Moore - no stranger to controversy. Interestingly her wiki entry states she has 3 kids by 3 different fathers and that they "were intimidated by traveling outside London, because the UK appeared so 'white'." Right-ho. So no agenda there then.

Germaine Greer was quite complementary too!

I know it's sloppy thinking but if I may be forgiven for engaging in a spot of national stereotyping just this once, a arguable case can perhaps be made that the British (as a race) are somewhat given to treating their young in a rather hostile/indifferent manner on occasion. For example, the cruelty the upper classes once routinely inflicted on their children by sending them away to bordering school at a very young age and (at the other end of the social spectrum) the manifest wickedness of putting children barely ten years old of trial (as if they were adults) being just two exemplars of this behavior.

But there again we really don't treat our older people all that well either do we?
