Joes Barton has a Sotoner for us...

If the future is Wellbeck and Sturridge, then we are stuffed. Nice to see the recognition for JWP and Shaw though. Barton is still a complete d1ck though

Welbecks a good player and I dont get how Sturridge is suddenly **** after a single (injured ?) england performance

Welbeck's cack, looks like a shuffler, cannot control a ball and never seems to have a clue what he's doing. One nice finish against Swansea to his career.

Sturridge is awesome, except when he's cack (which has been about 2 matches this season). I still think the latter is much more likely to be successful as a footballer though, you have to be able to control a ball to do anything with it.

I'd have Lallana in Barton's team ahead of Welbeck or Townsend every day of the week.

No holding midfielder there either, but in all honesty I haven't heard of a single decent English defensive mid coming through. That's a bit of a problem.

It is certainly an issue for my "never going to happen" policy of picking every available Saints player and plugging in 2 CBs, plus the good England players (i.e. Hart, Wilshere, Sturridge and Rooney) somehow.

Has the 'Cork' popped then?

I've never seen Wellbeck do anything in an England shirt to suggest he could be a world class player. Poor first touch for starters. He reminds me of George Lawrence or Paolo Wanchope, or Bambi.

Sturridge might score goals for Liverpool but again I've not been impressed with him for England.

I didn't see the point of bringing Lambert on last night as much as I want to see him play for England. There was no service to the front men. England never looked like scoring

No Clyne worries me more than no Lallana (though he is good enough to be in the team). Right back is a real problem for England as are the centre backs. Shaw would do a good job at left back but realisitically you can't flood the team with Saints so maybe Gibbs is a better choice for this tournament. Prowse is a must in my view and Hodgson obviously likes Rickie so he could well make the squad. Jay will probabably have to wait a bit given the competition for places but he will get there eventually I'm sure.

A lot depends on form for the rest of this season though.

He didn't say world class, he said good player.

I actually quite like Barton despite him not being a very likeable character.

Comes from a troubled family. His brother and cousin are both currently banged up for the same racially motivated murder. They killed a lad in Huyton with an ice axe.

It's probably for the best that Barton has lots of money and Twitter to keep him out of real trouble.

Too soon for JWP and Shaw and don't feel Rodriguez or Clyne will come into the thinking until post Brazil however the future looks very bright and nice to see people taking notice of our players!

No way would i iclude Wilshere. The amount of times he looses possession is shocking. I have noticed this over the last five or 6 England matches. He is totally overrated.

Most of the players give the ball away, unfortunately this is indicative of the counter attacking brand of the prem more than anything and the lack of 'developing' a team for me.

The germans, spanish etc have played together over generations (U19s, U21's) this creates an environment where the players gel and get used to each other. England squads are generally chucked together, and then there playing styles for clubs are often vastly different.

Club football allows teams to 'train' tactics over many months getting players used to movement off the ball etc. if anything England looked as though they were trying to press more than usual last night, but we dont have the players to move the ball on quickly when we gain possession.

All in all the transitional play between phases was crap last night. Especially final third.

Soo, long story short on Wilshere, I think he is very good but tries too much in an England shirt. Id stick with him, I posted my proposal further up, the issue is getting them to play together.
