Chalobah, Zaha, Morrison and Berahino also rested from Thursday's starting lineup, although there would have been a case for the first three to be dropped, such were their dreadful performances against a pretty mediocre Finland side.

Good to see Shaw rested for this, he wouldn't gain much experience from playing against San Marino at Shrewsbury and we need him 100% for Arsenal on saturday.

He did a lovely little job in the Beckham Quarterback role in front of the back 4 pinging Hollywood balls to the wings without needing to tackle or risk injury, so I was less worried than when he was haring around closing stuff down until they scored a few. Lovely free-kick too, put it exactly where he did in all those practice kicks on the FA's website. Good job San Marino didn't see them.
