Giordano Posted 19 November, 2013 Share Posted 19 November, 2013 If Ukraine knock France out I reckon : (a) England "can" beat Ukraine so there is at least one other team out there in Brazil we can play against and (b) Morgan will finally get picked to play for Les Blues after the World Cup when the French federation conducts is obligatory "shake-up" and insists on whoever the new manager(or if they keep the current Diddy man) is to try other players not associated with the national humiliation of France not qualifying. He wouldn't say it but its Morgan's best chance. I don't think Deschamps will pick him for his squad otherwise...

Well not to put too fine a point on it but in my opinion DD would like to be coach of a New Zealand team.
Olallana Posted 19 November, 2013 Share Posted 19 November, 2013 In the same manner we should hope Croatia wins over Iceland. I think Lovren would be really disappointed for a couple of weeks otherwise which might influence his game at the club....

Lovren didn't play last Friday, thought he was a regular starter for Croatia as a rule.

They couldn´t break them down 11 against 10 men for almost half the game. 0-0 at home is not a bad result for Iceland, if they score it can be very tricky and nervy in the Croatian team. And yeah, that surprised me too.
Giordano Posted 19 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 19 November, 2013 Yup, I guess I support England, Italy, Japan, Croatia and Uruguay at World Cups mostly these days. :-). In WC qualifiers I also support Northern Ireland as well. And Poland. And Kenya. And Zambia. And maybe even USA. And I still got a soft spot for Algeria. I think I might support France by the end of next year too. And possibly Argentina by the end of January, with a little luck ;-)
Giordano Posted 19 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 19 November, 2013 (edited) Oh- and of course all Saints fans want Sweden to get through! Am just about to start "I am Zlatan" and it won't be the same if he's not there...would lol if Anders makes it to Rio....but also if not just in case I'm hoping for injuries to the Portugese centre backs and the introduction of Jose ....at which point i shall become a Portugal fan as well..because I am a Southampton Supporter first and foremost. I'm a little minded parochial football fan and proud of it. Edited 19 November, 2013 by Giordano
Lets B Avenue Posted 19 November, 2013 Share Posted 19 November, 2013 shouldn't be too much of a problem for them really. Lovren didn't play last Friday, thought he was a regular starter for Croatia as a rule. They changed their manager after the last group game. He must have picked one of his favourites instead. Lighthouse Posted 19 November, 2013 Share Posted 19 November, 2013 I quite like Ukrainian football. I also enjoy laughing my tits off at the French, so I agree with the sentiments of the thread title.
Turkish Posted 19 November, 2013 Share Posted 19 November, 2013 Frances 0-2 defeat in the Ukraine certainly puts into perspective injury hit England's draw there a couple of months ago. Lots of whining on here about negative tactics and how crap we were they night. Just goes to show they aren't the cannon fodder some on here made out at the time. Lighthouse Posted 19 November, 2013 Share Posted 19 November, 2013 Not to worry, we can watch them getting spanked in a much brighter spotlight next summer, when they go crashing out in the group stages to Cameroon, Japan and Croatia.

Unless he can finds a Swiss gran or something he can book his summer holidays from now on. Won't get picked for France unless he moves to a CL club in January of course but he won't do that. Giordano Posted 21 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 21 November, 2013 I'm on plan B now which is hoping for a minor yet ruling out of the squad injury to both Portugese centre backs so that Jose gets a chance and hoping that DD realises that his France only scraped in by the skin of their teeth, again, and that he might want to mix it up for his Brazil squad as what he's picked and how they played so far has been not consistent or good enough. So both Jose and Morgan might yet get to go to Brazil as well... I think there is a good case for MS- DD has surely got to be seen to be trying something new- like bringing in a still only 24 year old player widely considered one of the best DM's in the EPl for two years...MS could be the rock to solidify that french national team - they got the flair players alright... The French CMs for Brazil will be Cabaye,Pogba,Mavuba and Matuidi, only a long term injury to one of those 4 will give anyone else a chance. Hodgson has said he doubts if there will be any new faces whatsover in his WC30 and France will be exactly the same. It's over for Morgan this time round I'm afraid.
