Thedelldays Posted 11 December, 2008 Posted 11 December, 2008 anyone got it? thinking about getting just wanted to find out if it was any good...
Draino76 Posted 11 December, 2008 Posted 11 December, 2008 I wasn't sure at first, but once you get used to the controls its amazing!.. Also try not to let your bird save over your game when you are 15 hours in; I'm back in Megatron.
Thedelldays Posted 11 December, 2008 Author Posted 11 December, 2008 cheers....what is odd about the controls...??? thinking about getting it as it is £20 in gamestation down here...
Bentley Posted 11 December, 2008 Posted 11 December, 2008 It's outstanding. Better than Oblivion. So close to being my game of the year if it wasn't for MGS4.
Thedelldays Posted 11 December, 2008 Author Posted 11 December, 2008 It's outstanding. Better than Oblivion. So close to being my game of the year if it wasn't for MGS4. similar sort of game play to oblivion...?? oblivion is doing my head in...will take me ages to cure the vampireism and cant be arsed
Draino76 Posted 11 December, 2008 Posted 11 December, 2008 The Pip Boy system, and the VATS enemy targeting system were all a bit 'tooo much information' in the 1st hour, but its really simple after a couple of hours.
mikey_boosh Posted 11 December, 2008 Posted 11 December, 2008 Brilliant game, hours of game play, good storyline, best game I've played in a while.
Saint_clark Posted 11 December, 2008 Posted 11 December, 2008 Great game, really p*ssed off that you can't carry on playing when the main story is completed though (like you can in Oblivion).
thesaint sfc Posted 11 December, 2008 Posted 11 December, 2008 I'm still underground at the moment - think it's alright.
labibs Posted 12 December, 2008 Posted 12 December, 2008 Brilliant game. It's very similar to Oblivion, but the gameplay is a bit faster, you use guns etc. For £20, it's an absolute steal. You'll never forget, the first time you take a raiser's head off with the railway rifle or encounter one of the behemoths.
Draino76 Posted 12 December, 2008 Posted 12 December, 2008 I'm stuck in that ****ing State hotel...Thats a game in itself.
Thedelldays Posted 12 December, 2008 Author Posted 12 December, 2008 i have it...not to sure what the VATS thing is all about...but looks cool.. also, getting used to the pib-boy thing from the easy on the eye oblivion thing takes some getting used to...only played it for a few mins and at megaton still....still trying to find the dad
thesaint sfc Posted 12 December, 2008 Posted 12 December, 2008 He looks really, really, really f*cked up when he runs.
Thedelldays Posted 16 December, 2008 Author Posted 16 December, 2008 im farking ****e at this game...and i like it too...
Saint_clark Posted 16 December, 2008 Posted 16 December, 2008 im farking ****e at this game...and i like it too... I was the same, but you get used to it. Get the hunting rifle as soon as you can, best gun in the game.
Robsk II Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 It clearly isn't the best gun in the game. It's a good early one though.
CabbageFace Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 I was the same, but you get used to it. Get the hunting rifle as soon as you can, best gun in the game. Not, get a Plasma Rifle, Chinese Assualt Rifle or Big Papa. They pwnage22211!
Thedelldays Posted 17 December, 2008 Author Posted 17 December, 2008 how do you get these guns early.. i am stuck with the 10mm standard ****e gun and get wasted all the time..
The Worm Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 you can get a laser pistol at the super duper mart
Saint_clark Posted 17 December, 2008 Posted 17 December, 2008 It clearly isn't the best gun in the game. It's a good early one though. Well I find it the easiest to use. Everytime I use that nuke thing I die, no matter how far away I am.
Michelle Posted 18 December, 2008 Posted 18 December, 2008 I have just bought it for my brother for Christmas. Fact. (£17.99 at HMV)
labibs Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 I don't much like explosive weapons either, it's too easy to damage yourself in the process. I actually think the most useful gun in the game is the Lincoln Repeater, basically a souped-up hunting rifle. It does loads of damage and can be repaired using ordinary hunting rifles. You can find it in the Museum of History in DC. It uses Magnum ammo, which can be a little difficult to find though. You can soften up most targets from a distance. If they still manage to get up close (it takes an awful lot to take down a deathclaw), then a few combat shotgun blasts to the head should finish them off.
Thedelldays Posted 19 December, 2008 Author Posted 19 December, 2008 you see..i go to the super duper mart after I have found info on my dad...and the baddies just kill me in there...tere are a few of them and the gun i have is crap... im rubbish..
The Worm Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 kill the lot outside, and rest on the bed there for a few hours (and if a kid comes upto you asking to help him in his town, dont do it yet unless you want to be a BBQ for a few giant ants) put on some of the armor you find when you kill them, if your lucky one of them will have a hunting rifle and some ammo, you should be able to clear put the building with that. i think there are about 10-12 people in there.
CabbageFace Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 Anyone know where to go to get the armour suit training?
The Worm Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 you have to go along the main questline, when you get access to the citadel (the pentagon) you can get the training for it there.
Saint_clark Posted 20 December, 2008 Posted 20 December, 2008 kill the lot outside, and rest on the bed there for a few hours (and if a kid comes upto you asking to help him in his town, dont do it yet unless you want to be a BBQ for a few giant ants) put on some of the armor you find when you kill them, if your lucky one of them will have a hunting rifle and some ammo, you should be able to clear put the building with that. i think there are about 10-12 people in there. Not forgetting to activate the robot hidden on the opposite side of the market from the entrance - he's usually good for a couple of enemy kills.
Draino76 Posted 29 December, 2008 Posted 29 December, 2008 All finished... Now I need to kill a few more Africans in Far Cry 2.
Thedelldays Posted 29 December, 2008 Author Posted 29 December, 2008 i am still proper gash at this game.. will leave it alone for a few days..
Ponty Posted 29 December, 2008 Posted 29 December, 2008 I got this for xmas, and I agree it's very difficult to survive the early firefights. I just avoid everyone and take long-range potshots with my laser pistol. Also 120 caps to 'sleep' with that bird was a bit steep, it meant I couldn't repair the laser pistol too
CabbageFace Posted 29 December, 2008 Posted 29 December, 2008 Everyone hates me and i keep getting pwn'd by regulators! lolism.

Ponty Posted 29 December, 2008 Posted 29 December, 2008 As you go into the supermarket, turn immediately right and jump the counter. There are 2 in there and shedloads of ammo.
SuperMikey Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 Only just got this recently for PC, it crashes all the ferking time. After scouring teh innernetz for a fix there doesn't seem to be one either. Balls. Currently working my way through the Wasteland Survival Guide quest and i'm in the Irradiated Metro Station with Cherry (who I picked up from Dukov's place...muahahahahaha). T'is a bloody good game.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 Best game I ever played, perhaps, possibly. Playing through second time now as a badman, my title is Harbinger of War, love it. Delldays did you know you can change the level of difficulty during the game? Try that for a while if you're proper stuck.
Smirking_Saint Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 Quailty game, the plasma rifle is the ********, a must have for turning mutants into a steaming pile of green goo. I also 'saved' cherry from Dukov's place, only for her to get her head blown off by the Mute's down the road. Also i was half way through before i realised you could use the quick travel, guted.

Ouch....
Smirking_Saint Posted 22 June, 2009 Posted 22 June, 2009 Ouch.... I was actually thinking to myself that as much as i liked the scenery and the wastland fights it was getting quite tedious having to walk miles to get anywhere. ....... what a pr!ck

Unfortunately for her she's just been chowed down on by some Feral Ghouls in my game...dumb b!tch running away everywhere. Wasn't going to Rivet City anyway! Just earned the title 'Ranger of the Wastelands' too, which makes me feel all nice and warm inside. Still going to blow up Megaton though, I want that apartment in Tenpenny Tower! Has anyone else experienced the frequent CTD's (crash to desktop) that i'm getting with this game? If so, have you found a fix? It's getting to the point where the game is crashing every 5-6 minutes.
BlakeySFC Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Just got this about a week ago off ebay on the cheap, absolutely fantastic game...13 hours in at the moment upto level 9...just keeps getting better and better, with each quest surprising me more and more with the inventiveness and intuitiveness of their design.
gonzo Posted 5 August, 2009 Posted 5 August, 2009 I've just completed the main quest - thankfully I had Broken Steel installed so I can continue afterwards. Fantastic game.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 5 August, 2009 Posted 5 August, 2009 When will us PS3 owners get Downloadable Content?!?!?!
Clapham Saint Posted 5 August, 2009 Posted 5 August, 2009 I've just completed the main quest - thankfully I had Broken Steel installed so I can continue afterwards. Fantastic game. When you continue can you then rise above level 20? Found that really frustrating towards the end.
gonzo Posted 5 August, 2009 Posted 5 August, 2009 (edited) When you continue can you then rise above level 20? Found that really frustrating towards the end. Yes, you can go up to level 30, as long as you have downloaded the Broken Steel DLC package. I'm not sure if or when the PS3 will be getting the DLC. But the place to ask will be the Fallout 3 forums on http://www.ign.com. Edited 5 August, 2009 by gonzo

However, it was put back due to bugs and it still hasn't been released I've had a quick squint on IGN, and this should be of interest to you. http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/100/1003058p1.html Broken Steel to be the first DLC for PS3, to be released next month apparently. Check out the article, it gives the reasons behind the delays.
