I wonder what Mr C and the club will think of the FA using JWP in this way ?

 

Remarkable though that the FA have not wheeled out a more senior player for this duty and type of promotional.

There's a ton of value in having both a left footer and a right footer in the equation to keep the defence guessing. The keeper doesn't have the option to "cheat" to one side.

 

The other thing we could try is to drill the ball along the ground, because the wall players start to jump in anticipation pretty much every time these days.

I really think that unless it is 30 yards or so, JWP should be taking our free kicks. Seems to have better technique and thus the ability to get the ball up and down quick enough to give the keeper some real trouble.

Strange that he didn't mention the most important bit, don't look up to see where it goes until the ball's well on its way. Head up = leaning back and no amount of top/sidespin will get that back down again.

 

I like the repetition in the routine, getting to a point where you know that because of your body shape no matter how hard you hit it it's going into the slot between bar and top of the wall means you can get more pace on the ball too.

I think its likely that the type of clubs that would be bidding on Shaw and JWP would already be aware of their ability/potential... Doubt they rely on tabloids for transfer tips! The only consequence it might have is a slightly higher bid and that just increases the clubs options in dealing with the offer.
