England vs Chile Match Thread

Lallana had a fine half in my opinion. Jay Rod, a few nice touches, no bad mistakes, but not seeing much of the ball.

Think you might have your Saints specs on there. He randomly shovelled it straight out of play when trying to pass, and had a "shot" from 25 yards that barely made the goal. Lallana has got better after a nervy start but hasn't yet done himself any justice whatsoever. A decent benchmark for when others slag off the likes of Welbeck, Strurridge etc.

Dreadful from England, Lallana has been as good as anyone out there for them (not saying much, really), Rodriguez has been poor unfortunately. Would not be shocked if he doesn't come out for the second half. No way Clyne is worse than Johnson.

Chile play an a good pressing game (sounds familiar) and England look clueless as to how to stop them.

Our players are playing in the wro system. We play with the striker pressing and one of the cms helping. Lallana and j rod (Lallana more so) have been given very defensive roles in markig the full backs. Unfortunately j rod is scared of giving it away, therefore retaining possession by passing backwards. Johnson not helpig Lallana and I feel they show too much respect to some of the "stars" and should do what they do best.

Lallana good, Jrod poor,

Our CM is so so poor. Wilshere given the ball away so much. Lampard is just awful as always, Milner has been good.

We seem to be doing a sort of half press, sometimes we press but it's all in 1s either press all together or sit on the half way line. We're at home FFS

Johnson is an awful right back.

Jones is, not a very competent centre back.

Baines isn't as good as Cole.

Lampard, "bless him", should step down now as he's looking past it.

JRod, unfortunately, isn't ready for this.

I like the idea of continuing to see Wilshire, Rooney, Lallana and on current form, Milner. Shame Gerarrd isn't playing today.

Lallana's been involved in everything good so far really.

Feel JRods just doing what he's been told but he's looking lost cos seems that roy's told everyone to do different things.

Don't think the management put much thought into dealing with Chile's playing it out from the back

Osvaldo with a superb touch as an assist for Italy's equalizer against Deutschland

In the International set up, Jay Rod would be better comming off the bench with 20-25 to go with a bit of energy and pace, his direct quick feet and cutting in will cause defences problems specially after having someone like Townsend or Walcott before hand giving them hassle.

Lallana looks good, bar the bad Corner i cant think of a bad mistake that would make me say your looking ****, linking well with Rooney.

Saints would be murder this England team. You can tell its all to slow for jay and Adam. Pressing is utterly dysfunctional and our lads don't know when to press or not. Always going to be a tough debut. Chile are a quality team... We're not talking about Poland or Ukraine or Moldova. This lot beat Spain with something to spare. Ads doing okay. Jayrod likes to run at team's. But if England don't get Chile on the back foot we are always playing through then and that doesn't suit him! Cone on saints!

Don't think J-Rod has done too much wrong really, apart from that tame half-hit towards goal when he had better options, but I won't be surprised if he is taken of at HT. Lallana has been good though - really got involved and made his presence felt, and had a couple of efforts at goal.

A poor team performance from England though. Tactics seem sketchy and a few experienced players are having a mare. Lampard is a strange one - how is it that somebody can reach 100 international caps without ever actually having a single decent game? And in what twisted version of reality is Glen Johnson a better RB than Clyne?

J rod unlucky, played too deep to be effective... Would have liked to see the midfield pushed up higher so that he pressed on the full back (ala saints style) - may have got him 1 on 1 a little and enabled him to run at them a bit... Still at least he didn't get injured!
