Chelski will probably want him to play in a stronger team - perhaps a lower Premiership team - in the second half of the season.

I doubt it, they would probably prefer if he gained more first team experience at a lower club like us than be a bench warmer at another premiership club.

A rather glass half empty post!

1) It's good news that Cork likes it at Saints. It suggests that the dressing room is a happy place with the team pulling together.

2) I think you're wrong. Were Cork to be on the fringe of the Chelsea first team I could see some logic to what you say, but he's surely way down the pecking order yet. A more likely scenario is that they might sell him to a weaker premiership or top championship club in the summer, if he continues to develop here but seems unlikely to make it at the level Chelsea require ..... the most likely fate of every youngster at any club that can just buy ready-made international players at will.

Actual positive news....gulp.

He's a top player with a first class attitude. He's was one of the few who seemed to care towards the end of the Palace game.

No point him playing 6 lots of 10 minutes for Chelsea in the next six months (if he's lucky!). Much better to get 20 odd games of nerve jangling relegation scrap under his belt......the boy Cork is obviously a masochist.

I wouldn't read too much into it TBH. When cornered into a sound bite whilst dishing out presents to the kids in hospital, he's hardly going to say that he's hating every minute of it and can't wait to get back to Chelsea, is he?

Have you actually read the article?

I guess all of us would like him to stay on. At the moment even a struggling premiership side would use him only as a back-up, which clearly he does not want. Saints probably suit Chelsea as it's an easy commute for the lad so they don't incur additional expense etc. On the other hand if QPR went calling? Usually, one London club will not entertain the idea of helping another so maybe all will turn out well.

Yes I have actually, both on the OS and on the Echo. I just think people read too much into these reports, whether they have positive spin or negative spin. It's all smoke and mirrors and I'd much rather just wait and see, than pencil Cork (or Lallana, or Surman, or Saganowski etc. etc.) into the team for the rest of the season.

It's hardly a "soundbite" though is it?

Nobody's asking you to run down the street in your underwear...

It's just encouraging to hear a player speak in length about his desire to stay at Saints...

Especially when that player is a good one...

Far be it from me to be pleased by anything Saints related though...we need to stomp out such behaviour after all...

I would be delighted if he were to stay. But he was being interviewed in Southampton General Hospital on the Santa run. As I said, he's hardly going to say anything adverse, is he?

Cynics of the world unite......

He's hardly a media trained old pro with mercenary tendencies is he? Give the kid a break.

Bottom line is he is keen provided Chelsea let him extend. Every cloud doesn't have to have a grey and thunderous lining.

I thought this was good news until I actually read the article. While still good news, it actually says he wants to stay "a bit longer", not that he wants to stay at Saints long term. So some good news, he is prepared to stay and fight to the end of the season, but nothing to suggest he sees Saints as a long term option.

It would be fantastic if he stays with us but I have heard 1 or 2 rumors that he is off to Bolton on loan or being sold to them I am not a ITKer but have heard it said a couple of times that is likely to happen.

He has been a great loan signing for us but you could see him doing a job in the Prem if he was a bit taller he would make a 1st class centre back and maybe make the grade at Chelski I hope we hang onto him

Great news that Cork is happy to extend his loan here, now it's down to the club to strike a deal.

Cork has been brilliant for us so far this season and we'd do well to keep hold of him.

His versatility has been a massive help for us too, and he seems to do a job wherever he plays.

If we were able to sign him permanently one day then that would be even better! Won't hold my breathe though.

This is Danny Guthrie all over again IMO. Come the end of the season we will think we stand a chance of signing him, even if its on loan again but he will end up going to a bottom half Premiership side.

Wow - a bit of spin-cum-ghost-writing by Lowey and Co. in preparation for the departure of Surman and Lallana, and its stiffies all-round....

Perhaps you should read the link first before posting your spin, that way you will see it was actually Cork speaking
