What a player! What a fantastic game he had against Hull - magnificent interceptions and passes.

This is borne out by the analysis in this article:

If James W-P carries on like this he will also be pressing for a place in the England senior team. He is awesome.

Brilliant free kick delivery then to assist England U21's going 1-0 up against Finland. Rio Ferdinand said in the build up to the game he's the most likely of today's team to make the step up - a real compliment when the likes of Butland, Zaha, Morrison & Sterling are all playing.

Well, Carrick had surgery on his Achilles on Tuesday.

Although he is now walking he knows it will be at least 6 weeks before he is playing again and is worried to death of any setbacks as he will miss the plane to Brazil.

Knows his spot is under pressure from "the young lads coming through from Southampton (AL & JWP).

That last question WAS asked when he passed by the media centre, it is not in this article but may turn up on Sky IF they show the full run

wasnt he (apparently) offered the chance to go out on loan recently and turned it down to fight for his place?

Not sure a out loan but be gave an interview in the summer saying he wasn't happy to sit on the bench and would fight for his first team place. It's worked, he's gone up a level this season,
