ladysaint Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 This was posted on the Saints list by Herbie Taylor hope he doesn't mind me posting it here found it very interesting, seems we have come along way since the dressing rooms at the Dell . I have been asked twice today whether, in the light of having a female assistant referee, (lines -woman) M.s Sian Massey on Saturday, have we got a separate dressing room for such an occasion. The answer is yes, including mirrors.(for the male refs!) Just inside the tunnel area there is an Officials Room, once inside there are two doors, behind each is an identical small dressing room with showers, changing area and in some ways a miniature version of the players dressing room. I thought M.s Massey, who is 28 years old and a school teacher had an excellent game on Saturday and was always up with the play. Lets have a few more like her. As an aside there is bell push to signal to the players dressing rooms when to come out before kick - off and at half time. Someone on a stadium tour, (a scotsman) told me that one of the Scottish clubs, Aberdeen I think he said, has 'referees room' written in braille under the words on the dressing room door! I am not sure if I have mentioned it before on here, but last year the Home dressing room shower and toilet area was upgraded to include a 8 man jacuzzi. New showers and posh new toilets too. Also did you know the Manager and coaches have their own dressing room, separate from the players? This was upgraded at the same time as the Home dressing room. Very swish. There is also a small dressing room for the visiting manager. Not so swish! We now have an upgraded Warm Up Room which is on show during stadium tours. It includes some special gym equipment and floor mats that I am told are used to ensure the players have a light workout before going out for the warm up on the pitch. This is to prevent muscle pulls during the pitch warm up. The Visitors dressing room does not have a warm up room nor a Jacuzzi, just two baths and ten showers. Herbie ( dreading that last ever tour) .
manina-pub Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 Having used the facilities 3 years ago they have obviously come on a tad. When I played in a charity friendly there were still tactic flipcharts up from previous games. PS.. we won 5-4 and I scored a hat trick (with new boots - never worn since) wearing red n white stripes with no.7 on my back . Celebrated in front of my season ticket seat , does it get any better for a 49year old bloke ?
Kingsland Red Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 I was lucky enough to manage a team in a local cup final at St Marys a few years ago. After taking our sons on a (birthday) tour of The Dell, St Marys changing facilities etc were quality.

The9 Posted 12 November, 2013 Share Posted 12 November, 2013 Aberdeen story is amusing, but where's the warm up room before the warm up room for the warm up? I hope we're not scrimping on these essentials!
