Tickets for traveling fans

Hi There

I am planning to take the trip from Denmark to Southampton this spring. The last couple of times I have been watching the saints (last trip a couple of years ago), I have had no problems reserving tickets for a match some month ahead. But when i wrote to tickets@asintsfc.co.uk i was informed I couldn't reserve tickets and would have to wait until they go on sale (about 4 weeks prior to the game). When I need to book plane and hotel that is way to late to get a reasonable price, and if I buy the plane and hotel now I might not be able get tickets next to each other if at all!

What do other foreigners do to get tickets?

Jon

It is very difficult for overseas fans to now buy tickets. I have a lot of friends who come over regularly from Holland, Russia, Sweden, Norway etc., who always struggle to purchase tickets themselves. We don’t seem to have any overseas supporter groups anymore, or if they do exist they don’t appear to be very active. It must be very frustrating for you, the only way I can suggest is that you ask a season ticket holder to purchase the tickets on your behalf.

The only thing I can suggest is that you get yourself registered on the online ticket system as soon as possible. While tickets generally only go on sale around 4 weeks in advance, no game has yet sold out (suspect Man City will be the first, considering more than 3,000 have been sold today already), so while clearly nobody can "guarantee" you a ticket, the balance of probability is certainly in your favour.

that sounds like it must be nearly sold out then? if there are 3200 away fans, 3000 sold to non-season ticket holders , roughly how many would that leave on sale?

i am surprised we do not assist overseas fans IF they have a history of buying tickets in the past, especially in our non-Premier league days.

Not including corporate tickets, there are just over 6,000 available on a match-by-match basis this season.

I think he means a home game rather than away. If you pick a game against a lower table team, you're pretty much guaranteed to get a ticket as most don't sell out.

He's talking about a home game. 3200 away fans, 3000 tickets already sold to non-ST Saints fans plus the Saints ST holders doesn't leave many unsold.

To be fair, Aussie Saint is doing a superb job in starting to bring us overseas fans together.

We have started to link up our FB & Twitter pages #globalsfc so it is worth checking out whether there is any Danish Saints group yet.

Now that we have the groups, it is easier for fans to share information or to have access to tickets from friends or families. The club are also starting to look at this as there are starting to be communication and possible articles in match day programmes coming up.

I know from here in Dubai we have managed to help out some Russkie & Singapore Saints and the spirit of co-operation is growing.

I understand the dynamics involved behind the scenes to try to start to bring us all together into a more official capacity (like the London Saints group) but from what I see it IS starting.

Check out the overseas saints posts for more info and even if you THINK you are the only fan in Denmark you may be surprised, we now get around 30 fans each week, but have around 1,000 followers on Twitter, the Aussies are up into being REALLY organised with groups in each City, trips to A League games and EVEN an annual Dinner.

We're a bit behind that but plan our first fully official event - the 40 points party

In worst case? give me a PM, will try and help out but a tad busy next 6 days with the whole Golf thing down here

Out in Dubai now for work, just got back to my place after a very nice meal with a new client at the Millennium Hotel (Asian restaurant on 18th floor)... And he was a Saints fan! Saints clearly running the Emirates!

PS - the drivers out here are ****ing dangerous, not in a funny "look how fast he goes" Greek/ Italian/ Turkish taxi driver" way, I mean, proper, life threatening, lane dodging loons. Oh, and it's quite warm.

Pretty sure there are a few saints in DK. Quite a few of us in sweden. We keep in touch via the svenskafans.se site. There we try and help each other and share tips as well as organise trips together. Your more than welcome.

Same problem for me. Flights and train tickets have to be booked well in advance. BUT you'll probably always get tickets for home games. Best advice is just to go for it.

Do as Steve mentioned . Get yourself on the ticket site. It actually works well for me. Then get online as early as you can. Bingo!

I have no problem with the ticket office saying you have to be on the database to buy tickets particularly when they fear away fans may purchase in our end. My only problem with this is the new ruling of having to have purchased a ticket on your customer number in the last two years.

The Manchester City match is on sale to supporters with a purchase history from this season and/or last season.

As a foreign fan you may not be able get over every year which is understandable. I think this new ruling is ill though out, surely if you have a ticket purchase history from 2-4 seasons ago when we were in league 1 or the championship then you are not likely to be a Man City fan. I just feel the rule has been brought in to try and force people to attend more often which is fine for those of us like me based in the UK but for a foreign supporter like most on this thread it is a complete joke.

I have helped Andy Durman get tickets for the City game and I would encourage others to do the same if they can as it must be horrible to think you are back in the country and you cannot get a ticket to see the team you love play.

Lol you think THIS is warm? It's ******* winter!

Check out the Twitter Feed, may be some of the lads watching the England games down at Barasti @dubaisaints. Most will be in the bar at the golf tomorrow afternoon. Some mugs will be working :?

There are a scary number of us here these days

Won't help you but for Citeh & Arsenil games both Etihad & Emirates offer flight & ticket packages for (our) away games. No help for Arsenil this year they have stopped offering them, but for those across Asia/Afr/Aus it may be an option. Check out their websites

It's only "in the last 2 years" now because they had a data cleansing exercise when they put the new system in and only migrated the data of the people who bothered to respond to it.

Ha, all the local ex pats have said the same! Just sat in T3 waiting to fly back, top trip, have to say Dubai grew on me during my time here. Clear to see ex pats look out for each other business wise. Common theme being no matter what infrastructure, tech, facilities the locals out in the main thing needed is genuine talent, something that takes a generation or more to nurture.

Anyway, enjoyed yet another buffet at the Millennium (airport this time) got to make the most of the booze packages eh Phil? Fella Ive been with is taking the Saints fan along to the golf corporate tomorrow (should have loomed at options before booking my flight back for tonight, schoolboy error not to be repeated). If you're there there will be someone else to enjoy our England dominance with at the Barasti or wherever you end up!

Man City have returned 600 tickets which will be sold on to Saints fans, so a few extras up for grabs

good, and as long as they recorded the sale against your name and customer number you'll have no problem getting tickets for future matches as you'd be a recognised customer
