Wrong seats - ticket office mistake ??

I arrived at SMS on Saturday with my Dad and two children with 4 x tickets for block 21 row B. When I got there, another family were in our seats. The stewards said there had been a mistake at the ticket office and the family sat there also had tickets for the same seats. We had to be moved across to block 25.

Not only were we in seats we preferred not to be in (block 25 is behind the goal which is what we wanted), but at half time the gate gets put up in the corner of that part of the ground so we couldn't get across to the Chapel end to chat to some of our friends who were in that area.

Not happy. Anyone else experience this.

Can understand the frustration, as others have said, it was obviously an honest mistake.

If you really aren't happy just send the ticket office an email/letter and you may get some kind of compensation for the mistake (depending how it is worded of course).

When SMS first opened I purchased some tickets that turned out to have a restricted view (from memory they were in the family area). Ticket Office were great afterwards and offered us a pair of complementary tickets to another home match.

A restricted view? In St Mary's? Really?

Were you sat the right way around in your seat?

:mcinnes: I'd hate to see how you'd react if you ever had an actual problem.

The team is doing so well on the pitch that it's easy to forgive/overlook stuff that's off the pitch.

In general terms, the ticket office seems to be a pretty appalling shambles.

Don't quite get why it isn't simply sorted out - it's not rocket science, really.

Well it was actually a problem wasnt it. Block 21 is a different stand to Block 25 and is separated by a gate. You cant get to one from another. And some of my friends were in the other block which means I couldnt get socialise with them at half time.

A particularly chose seats in the Chapel for that reason.

I don't understand why anyone would want to sit in Row B behind the goal to begin with, it's the closest thing to a restricted view you will get in St Mary's.

I noticed on Saturday we seem to have resolved the problem of not big empty areas by selling the front row last, about a quarter of the stadium had the front row empty. Makes sense from a security perspective as well.

I actually meant 4 free tickets - 2 Adults and 2 Under 11's as per my original purchase for the Hull game.

I assume this will be 1 seat in each of the 4 different stands!

Clearly it was more of an inconvenience than an inability to survive. My life was never in danger. If you're spending around £70 on tickets you deserve to be sat in the seats you chose. I was right to complain and now have 4 free tickets to show for it.

sure it was inconvenience and you have a right to complain. i couldnt upgrade a junior ticket last saturday sbecause the ticket system was down prior to the match but didnt feel the need to start a thread on it on a forum designated to talking about football.

sureky there must be a generic forum dedicated to poor customer service that would be more relevant?

what next the loo paper at st marys is like tracing paper and is to rough for your poor arrse ?

Seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to post about, the OP only said "not happy", not sure it deserves all the sarcasm.

I want to know more about this "gate" in the Chapel - what's it for? Where does it go? And yes, I am serious. It's 150 yards from the nearest away fan, is it just to stop Chapel proles sneaking into the expensive stands or what?

Its put up so the tractor thing can come on in that corner of the ground I think.

No that would be ridiculous. I originally started the thread as I was interested if anyone else had similar problems. I can think of many more a thread about more trivial matters. If the thread didnt interest anyone, no one would reply and it will quickly fall down the list on the home page. Your additions to this thread have kept it up there. If you dont like it, dont open it.
