Window Cleaner Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 Good, he still has a lot to offer once he gets all these WC jaunts out of the way, Turkey on Wednesday, Montevideo the week after and then back to Saints thursday or friday with a game on saturday. It just can't work, he's always out of the first team ambiance, same as Maya really but in Japan's case they had a fairly easy road to an early qualification. Window Cleaner Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 (edited) So how does Suarez manage it? getting a 10 game suspension helps I suspect. Midfield is a hard place to be (especially chez les Saints) if you don't have an ideal physical condition. Window Cleaner Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 Well he doesn't, does he? probably actually nets about 100K a month, you can still get a nice place for that I expect. Don't know how much Uruguay pay their players but there will probably be a handy bonus once they've crushed Jordan a couple of times. I know we as a club will get about 2800 dollars per player per day (standard period is about 33 days) so we can expect about 60000£ per player involved. No doubt participating assosciations will get a big hand out as well so bonuses for being there will be the order of the day.

I feel people are simply making excuses for him, he either can do it it like Suarez or not, Forlan at 36 can manage it (maybe Ramirez is too young?) and many other plying their trade and playing well in the top European Leagues, clappers need to man up and say he has been simply **** and an absolute waste of money. The9 Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 In case there's anyone who still doesn't know though, Ramirez wasn't available to Saints on Saturday for the Hull game as Uruguay have their World Cup Play-Off with Jordan on Wednesday. Suarez only played for Liverpool because they stumped up for a plane to fly him out there immediately afterwards and Uruguay agreed, but the rest of their squad wasn't available for selection on the weekend either. But that's it, he hasn't been THAT bad. He's been disappointing vs his fee, but he contributed a good amount last season. This season he seems to be out of favour, but NONE of us know why that is. I don't think his fitness is up to scratch, but then the Italian League is much slower than the Prem, and maybe his fitness is there now and he can't get in based on the form of the team at the moment. We all know you have an irrational hatred of him...

He has been woeful and nothing short of it, people WANTING him to (I also do believe it or not) be good does not make it so, step back and see he has been awful, absolute crap, lack of fitness, desire and want have been key to his total failure, we have had him for 18 months and he has done nothing for his price, his price alone is the only reason he continues to be selected for the squad, and also the massive dent Cortese's ego has taken over this. Gaston wasn't here for most of pre-season and he's been gone for 2 weeks 3 times since. So since July Gaston hasn't been available half of the time. We need to get this difficult qualification for Uruguay out of the way and then I think we'll see more of him. When the lads playfor England they're back on Wednesday before Saturday games but in Gaston's case it must be Friday moring every time.

Mowgli Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 I personally think gaston is a class player who will come good but competition here is getting stronger each transfer window. He was recognised by many of his team mates as the most talented player on the training ground but because of a serious injury he has not been able to reproduce that form on the pitch. Assuming we are in Champions league next year, I think he will give us important options - and he has already proven himself against European clubs. So I would stick with him as one for the future but In Poch we trust.
jasonb Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 I am unfortunately in the 'think he's been a bit of a let down' camp. However, I feel he can still do a job in the Prem and become and integral part of our success if he works on one thing! ONE THING!! SHIELD THE BALL!!! Surely with our quality coaches this can be hammered into him?? I personally would have him doing one on one sessions with Wanyama twice a day until he learns to fight for and keep the sodding ball more. He'd be a world beater if he did that IMO.
