Wiggles31 Posted 10 November, 2013 Share Posted 10 November, 2013 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/10439633/Southampton-revival-puts-England-on-path-to-success.html Not sure if this has been posted. A good read about our youth infrastructure. Hopefully England will implement a similar system. I can't think of a better run club than ours right now. Bucks Saint Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 What secrets? We invest in the youth teams and the training facility, and put a lot of effort into getting it right? Dont think Wikileaks will be getting too excited yet
Tony F Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 I detect that the ethos of the club, as we now see being firmly developed with commitment of club money and demonstrated as successful (so far), has 100% buy-in from senior players who are excited to be part of it. This will, in my view, be a compelling reason for them not to jump ship when the so-called glamour clubs come knocking at doors of our star players in the coming transfer windows. Watch this space? Minty Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 Another thought - by having such a good training and development set-up, we also put ourselves in a strong position when it comes to recruiting coaching staff, or even retaining retiring players who want to go on to coach. Young players want to be part of the Academy, but potentially so will coaches, new and experienced, who want to work at the best places.
St Louis Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 Great read, thanks! Everything seems to be going so well at the moment, long may this continue. Jeremy Wilson (the journalist of this article and ex-echo) is a Saints fan too, so hopefully the positive Saints coverage will continue
