Still hoping that we've got a loan target on ice waiting for his team team to tie up their preferred signing. Wouldn't even mind the likes of Vydra from WBA as cover if Mel gets the attacker he's after. I think the idea of no real competition for Rickie beyond a academy 18 yr old who had 1 league start would show a real lack of common sense.

Vydra is on loan at WBA, so they cannot loan him to us. Common sense.

couldn't we have used the Osvaldo money to steal Yevhen Konoplyanka from under Liverpool's noses like they did to us with Coutinho? He looked a proper livewire in the Ukraine game against England at their place. I'm in dreamworld aren't I.

I kinda feel like we need someone, but theres no point panic buying. The staff and management team are obviously happy, but I feel a bit nervous, even if we have only lost squad players + Osvaldo

why is buying someone now classed as panic buying?

our short comings at CB once Jose or Dejan are out have been there for all to see.

I kind of hoped we have been constantly scouting people and have had various targets lined up

dont get how getting someone in a designated transfer window is panic buying?

nervous about what?

Signings are bonuses in my eyes, not something to expect in a January window.

it's not, but I doubt we had it in mind to buy a striker up until a week or so ago.

Nice one SSN.

'Fulham are hopeful Holtby will be available for tomorrows, crucial, bottom of the table clash with Southampton. Obviously Southampton are a bit higher up, but it's a huge game''

Err yes, nice one.

could be a good signing that for Fulham. Their centre midfield looked terrible against us last time out.

Well, nervous about squad depth and options I guess. Like I said I know its mainly squad players that have gone but it still makes me feel like "what if"? What if Lamberts injury carries on for a few weeks and JRod picks up a knock for example? Where are up the creek!

Why is it something we should expect?

because the club are letting its record signing go. We signed him for so much money for a reason. We needed another striker and a top quality one at that

much like why we signed a top CB. we needed one

if we are fine with gallagher and why did we push to sign ossie and spend so much money on him in the first place

also, we tried to get Damiao. but why if we are all of a sudden fine with a rookie?

I suspect it was a Cortese hissy fit signing

It was something of an extenuating circumstance though to be fair to the club, especially on top of all of the Cortese malarkey. I'm sure Pochettino wouldn't consider it an ideal situation.

I know that he HAS to go.

but I was thinking that the club are constantly scouting targets all over the show. I just cannot believe that if we are serious about the FA cup or maintaining a nice top half finish with that. We are going to let a striker good enough for Juve go and not replace him with any real quality. Not even a loan

Indeed but we've never been the quickest to get transfers across the line in the best of situations, so it was a tall order based on past form.

we were all told (mainly on here) that it was because NC was impossible to deal with..........

understandable, and the left and right wing (do we even play one of those - its more Lallana in the hole) are positions we don't have a great deal of options in, but the way I see it, we have plenty of players, so we'll field a half decent side come what may. If our best players get injured it will be weaker, but that's life. The one injury away from Jos concept doesn't worry me that much at all. I know the club has moved on from the nightmares financial problems of the past, but I still just can't let myself get worked up about whether or not we have spent a wedge in the window. As long as the club is ticking over reasonably and we are not ****ing ourselves with outrageous contracts that would kill us if things went pair shaped that I'm ok. Obviously being content is not allowed on here, you have to have ambitions of grandeur, but not too much otherwise Turkish will take you to pieces.

stoke are in real danger of going down

I think fulham will go, they just let in so many goals, they will score a few but they (like us in 2005) just cant defend

Fulham are the worst side I've seen this season. Have they improved much since their visit to SMS?

who knows if that was true, but if the clubs policy on minimising agent fees hasn't changed then quick transfer are unlikely to happen. Large agent fees tend to oil the wheels these days.

Surely if Hughes fails at Stoke, then he's finished as a top flight manager? How many more chances is he going to get....
