Swansea are going to sign Tom Ince. Make of that what you will.

wrong side to replace Dyer though, hasn't one of their wingers just gone down with a biggish injury? Spanish blokey.

I wouldn't mind Dyer though, probably grown up by now. I could well see Dyer getting an England call up soon to replace Walcott.

From Premier League to Serie A short step. Osvaldo knows, this summer has hailed the Rome to fly to Southampton. Estimators, in Italy, there is no shortage. In recent weeks, Inter has tried to borrow. And after injury Giuseppe Rossi Fiorentina, in addition to Matri, he thought to himself. The Southampton, however, has no plans to give up his attacker, a fortiori loan. If you decide to put it on the market, however, his card would cost 16 million to 17 million euro. Consuming task, Italy can wait.

Rumors continue to fly. Pablo Daniel Osvaldo and Southampton, with Italy in the background. Inter and Fiorentina like the striker, they both tried to acquire him on loan. But the English club has no intention of selling him with that formula, at least at the moment. In the meantime, tomorrow the intermediary will fly to London to talk to Southampton. That should give us a better indication for the future. Should they decide to sell Fiorentina and Inter wouldn’t be able to get him since the English club wants at least 16 million euro. Italy is in the background, the intermediary is flying to London. Osvaldo’s future will be clearer tomorrow.

Just can't see us ditching Osvaldo now unless there is a definate target lined up.

We have got half way through the season with next to no contribution from Osvaldo.... Perhaps we can survive the other half and re-invest in the summer?

With or without Osvaldo we are going to finish around 8-12th imho

Im not sure we need a striker or an attacking midfielder more then we need defensive cover in the form of a keeper and a L sided CB tbh

If Lallana got injured we would be 100% reliant on Gaston or some kid for our creativity. I think we definitely need to strengthen the " supporting three" if we want to climb much higher in the table.

Certainly more of a priority than GK IMO.

Really? Scoring goals more of a problem than conceding at the moment? Wow

I kind of agree. It's a tough one really. Our first choice defence is great, our first choice attacking 5 is great, but there is still room for improvement, and it's always great to be able to bring someone on if we're struggling to break a team down. Saying that if we keep clean sheets then we only need one goal to win, which is what we were doing at the start of the season.i think we're fine at full back, Chambers is a more than capable deputy and Clyne can go to LB.

For me, if we don't get another GK to challenge/fill in for Boruc it will be amazing shortsightedness. Then CB cover, then striker (Ings as a cheapie I hope)

In all fairness Osvaldo has contributed very little other than that wonder strike against Man City. Without him, we'd probably still be in 9th, so it would be no great loss. However, rumours on players coming in are very quiet which is worrying. Surely the last 2 months have shown MP we need to improve the squad?

The agent of Cheikhou Kouyate says he has been in talks with us, as well as Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal. So no chance of getting him, but at least it looks like we are actively seeking a CB. This was the guy linked back in the summer, maybe we should have made our move then

Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate is attracting interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Southampton and Manchester City according to the player's agent.

"I have been in talks with representatives from Liverpool and Arsenal," Saffet Balkan told Turkish-football.com. (external)

"Southampton and Manchester City have also been in contact with me over him.

"It's very likely that he will be joining a Premier League club soon."

The Senegal centre-back, 24, has made 27 appearance for his club this year and impressed playing for his country at the London 2012 Olympics.

Sounds exactly what we need, would be great to get him in this window.

Re. Osvaldo - if he knows Inter are keen to get him on board, will that unsettle him? Can see why the move might appeal to him, but can't think for one minute why Inter would think we'd go for it?

So you would base our transfer strategy on the moment and not level-headed consideration of our squad as a whole? Wow.

Nope. I'd base it on GK being a pressing need we haven't addressed for years alongside other pursuits. You were the one who introduced some sort of hierarchy of need - 'Certainly more of a priority than GK IMO'. Transfer strategy is always 'at the moment' as it is a window-based system.

The only teams who do business at this stage of the window are the desperate ones i.e West Ham.

If we do anything we will just wait and see what comes around. I am sure we would happily do nothing, but if someone on our radar becomes available then we will move.

To be fair I won't be too bothered if we don't bring anyone in on this window, panic buys and over priced players is not a good thing.

Having said that I'd be a tad worried that without some cover to some of the positions (GK,LB, CB and AM lol) then we wouldn't finish as high as we could so that may get too our better players that are linked with moves away and make a move away more likely.

The better we do and higher we finish the more likely the best players will stay at least until we bring in players in the summer.

Inter Milan and Fiorentina are apparently interested in taking him back to Serie A, but Pochettino will not let the Argentina-born striker leave.

"In Italy, in Spain, in Russia and Argentina with Boca Juniors, too," Pochettino said in English of the constant speculation, before adding through his Spanish interpreter: "He is very happy here, he has been training very well.

"He is very expectant to be fulfilling his contract here. He is also expecting the birth of his son and is expecting his son to grow up in England.

"I am very sorry about all these rumours happening right now, but they are just not true."

Asked if expectation brought by the lofty price tag has had a negative impact on Osvaldo, Pochettino added: "I don't think he was an expensive player, I would say.

"If you look at the prices in the market, I don't think he was an expensive player.

"If you look at the price to his quality, he is a cheap player. I don't mean cheap in a negative way, I mean he is value for money.

"The hardest thing has been his adaptation to the league, that has been the most troubling thing and something he has been working on."
